I totally get that, living in/near a major city, indoor makes the most sense especially for biking!! NYC has 45 pound/20kg public bikes that definitely count as a workout, but as for speed/really pushing, indoor it is!! Love the outtake with Pickle :D

I honestly would have thought that it’s the other way around 😂. I find myself having to drag myself to go ride outdoors when indoor cycling is so much more fun and time efficient. On the trainer I can spend the time going fitness while gaming on the console, watching shows, getting work done on a laptop etc. can’t do these outdoors. Plus, the weather is always better indoors too

As someone who runs only (5 miles to 1/2 Mar')- many think I'm nuts with most of my training indoors (treadmill/stair-climber) ! It's nice to know that one of the longest races on earth can be won off the back of indoor work !! Fair to say however, your indoor volume requires an extraordinary level of focus and determination. Your mind and body are made of special stuff !!

Non competitive rider here, but spending the entire 2023 doing almost nothing but riding structured rides indoors and gym work has done wonders for my fitness. Ride just north of 6-7 hrs weekly, and my FTP went up by around a quarter. Plus, it’s way more time efficient and enjoyable than riding outdoors since I can just catch up on all the shows I’m missing or do work on the laptop during the z2 rides. Makes me wonder why more ppl don’t just do indoor training. outdoor rides now is now a chore I see as necessary to check that my bike still works.

Always interesting , I really enjoy watching your videos and getting more inside on your way of training and how things are working out. I for myself prefer Rouvy to Zwift, as the routes are more realistic and it makes for me more enjoyable riding them rather than some virtual landscapes, but that is my personal opinion and feeling. For sure Zwift has a broader audience and thus offers other advantages, but as a triathlete, I am used to training alone and thus can accept the fact that on those virtual training session, I have less people around. Further not training the running on a treadmill (no space and budget to add this to my pain cave) I only need a platform which offers cycling, but I do not need it to offer running as well.

One thing people must never forget, indoor training can be some of the best training for mental and physical fitness, but does you 0 good if you crash because you have no technical skill. Make sure you get outside occasionally and work on those technical skills. Also, Lucy said it best at the start, know your course as well.
