Been there last October/November. It was becoming warmer every day and we were glad for the decision coming before it is really getting hot. This year we will hopefully make it in October. We're up near Grand Baie in a perfect location right by the sea where the wheather conditions are a bit more stable. Prefere to rent something instead of a 5* Hotel. Looking forward. Best time is during a cyclone! It's proper amazing. The main thing is that it's hot so the water and the rain doesn't matter at all, and being English it's a delightful because here in the UK the weather is far worse than a little cat 5 cyclone. Although, being without a radiator to dry your clothes on isn't funny especially if you get to day 3 without sun or running water! Honestly, cyclone weathers the best time to be there!

My wife and I have been to Mauritius for ten days in February several years ago. We just fell in love with the island and its people. Weather-wise it was indeed hot and humid, but it was such a welcome escape from our Belgian winter that we enjoyed it. We had rain every single day, but it was all short-lived showers that did not ruin the sunshine that still prevailed most of the day. Have we been lucky weather-wise? I don't know, but what I know is that I hate rain at home and in Mauritius it did not bother me. The circumstances of life and of the world (COVID) have so far prevented us from going again to Mauritius, but we definitely want to go back.

Mauritius needs to ditch its stupid mask and quarantine policies. These are what are putting a lot of people off from visiting or relocating. I wouldn't want to go somewhere where I have to put a silly rag over my face all the time. It makes no sense. You need to get your government to drop these mandates.

Been there in February 2019 and think that was awesome!!! Yeah, some days it was a bit too hot for unaccustomed visitors but the weather patterns made for absolutely mind-blowing sunsets and sunrises! We were staying mostly on the southern coast and had a chance to enjoy both every day. Photo-wise that was a totally gorgeous trip! And occasional rains didn't really bother much. Even getting wet in those temperatures was nothing to be afraid of. But now that I got myself injected with the kiteboarding I wanna come back somewhere in May or later to explore this other side of the island. :)

@@marinahuber9228 Hi, yes I was there from 19th - 30th September. We stayed at the hotel La Pirogue at Flic n Flac. Weather in this area should be okay, but I was informed that weather in different areas is too cold and windy, and it is no-go. Flic n flac was good - too hot when it was sunny, but little bit cold when it was cloudy (80% of time!) So there was need to wear light sweatshirt especially in the afternoon / evening. After 4 pm it was too cold even for staying in the swimming pool, some days sea was cold, other days it was okay. Conclusion = next time I would choose october for beach holidays, but it was okay for exploring. Important information - weather keep changing every few minutes and it is absolutely unpredictable. Sometimes it was cloudy and we wanted to go for trip and before we changed clothes and prepared, it was suddenly hot and clear sky. Sometimes it was sunny, and before we took swimsuit to go to the sea, it started raining. Not really my favourite weather conditions :)

it is definately January/February reasons: #1 you might enjoy a beautiful tropical cyclone. Perhaps it is a once in a life time experience. 🙂 #2 the island is empty of tourists therefore everything is cheaper and more comfortable, there is no annoying mass anywhere, the traffic jams are not that serious. #3 it is winter in Europe so nothing is better than jump up two seasons in only 18 hours.

Hei,:) is it still warm enough to swim in may? or does it rain a lot?
@LucyLeheilleix2 жыл бұрын
The water temperature is around 24 degrees. Definitely still warm enough to swim 😊Normally there is less rain, but the weather is becoming less and less predictable.

Thinking about coming for a month mid September to mid October. Likely to be dry?
@LucyLeheilleix Жыл бұрын
I’m not too sure Claire. In theory….yes, but the weather is never certain… I’m a fan of that time of the year as it’s less humid.

Thank you for that. Two weeks to go till our trip out to Mauritius, looks like a thin waterproof could be useful. Minus4 degrees yesterday morning driving to work, so looking forward to your 30+. Very stressful time now, as we have to test PCR negative the day before we fly. We have no control over that, just trying to stay away from the crowds etc. 😎⛱☔🍹🤞

@@oliveringram3056 what company are you using for tests and how much is it cost? I bought randox tests for home testing but now thinking to return them and go to the clinic for sample and quicker turnaround. Thanks

Staid for 2 months beginning of December until end of January. One week was constantly raining but as the temperature never drops you can still do beach walks or swimm. Otherwise we were very happy and yes it's warm but not to hot as there's a constant breeze. Love Mauritius

I wouldn't agree about the best time to visit Mauritius, Winter, if I'm wanting to taste the different tropical fruits of Mauritius as they all ripen in summer. The best pineapple in the world grows there, the Queen Victoria pineapple and it's probably my favourite tropical fruit. If I wanted to experience a bit milder temperatures then I agree that winter is better and definitely cooler. The last time I came to Mauritius was in 2013 when I came in July for the first time in winter with my youngest daughter, previously the family would come anytime from November to February. The humidity in summer never bothered me terribly, although Port Louis could be a bit hotter and more uncomfortable. Regardless of the time of year, the sun is strong and it's not hard to get sunburnt and I have more or less olive skin, but was still concerned about the sun's strength as far as getting sunburnt. Actually thinking back to when I was in Mauritius last, the weather was much more pleasant in the winter. And regarding tropical fruit, I wondered why the pineapple tasted so good when the Australian grown pineapple was mediocre and then years later I read that most judges of quality fruit regard the Queen Victoria pineapple as the best pineapple in the world. Lychees are also like very much and don’t think I’d ever tried one before I first went to Mauritius with my wife in 1985. And papaya which I thought I didn’t like when I tried it in Mauritius it tasted good. I can’t recall if the papaya I tried was local or imported from South Africa as it was winter in Mauritius when I tried the papaya although I understand papaya can ripen in autumn also.

Thanks John for your comment. As the climate is mild all year round, I think the only fruit missing in winter would be litchis as one can get pineapples on the island all year round.

Winter is another kind of rainy seasons with fine rain the whole day, and very windy as well as gloomy.
@LucyLeheilleix Жыл бұрын
It can be like that….particularly last year’s winter. It all depends on the day really. The weather is becoming less and less predictable. At least we have had some rain and the dams have had a slight top up. 😄
