There’s already remakes to old arcs but also I like seeing the anime progress at styles it makes it less boring and it’s also one of the things that makes one piece not dull looking compared to other anime

One thing consistent about pre and post time skip is the “outlier” arcs. Like thriller bark and fishman island. Personally I loved thriller bark but I’m just a Halloween theme fan. Good video and good points, I could honestly watch your vids for hours and still be interested, got disappointed each time you brought up something like Yamato and didn’t go into depth but I can guess what you would’ve said 😭

Pre-time skip One Piece had me crying at the edge of my seat. Post-Time skip One Piece was enjoyable, but did not have the same magical storytelling as Pre-Time skip. Mostly because majority of the Arcs in Post-Time skip are just recycled from Pre-Time skip but without the character building. Fishman Island was original, but the final fight was WAYYY too long. Dressrosa was WAYYYY too long and was recycled from Alabasta. Whole Cake Island was basically Ennis Lobby/Water Seven minus the important character building. I am currently read/watching Wano, so I will see how that goes. I think that the best arc in Post-Time skip that I have seen so far is Punk Hazard, because it was original. Cesar was a perfect villain, but he ended up basically being a non-threatening villain to set up Doflamingo and Dressrosa.

@theblackphantomhd well yeah but sanji is unreasonably self sacrificial and lacks self worth, we saw that big time on Thriller Bark. so when the direct source of those feelings drags him away from his safehaven ofc he's gonna end up falling into that pit harder than ever, as well as eventually overcoming it when he reached a breaking point of either truly giving it all up and dying or letting himself finally be 'selfish' and allow Luffy to assist/save him (and even then it was in his own kind, selfless, Sanji way by saving his abusive family in the process)

@@theblackphantomhd also factoring in Big Mom and the effects of generational trauma, Katakuri and Luffys dynamic, the multiple different angles of analysing the thematics of familial bonds, both healthy and unhealthy, etc, I'd argue Whole Cake is one of the most character building + analysis focused arcs in the show, or at least Post Timeskip alongside Dressrosa, Wano and Egghead

Just a quick correction, gear 4 does not make luffys haki stronger. What gear 4 does is combine his haki with his rubber, effectivley making it so instead of having a shell of haki around yourself your body is just made of a super flexible haki. The increase in luffys "stats" are from the concept of gear 4 being the speed of gear 2, the power of gear 3, and the durability and attack potency of his haki. Hoped that cleared this misconception up. Otherwise great video!

I think when you have a show that spans 20+ years youll see a divide amongst fans that grew up with it vs new fans. That being said One Piece is definitely a different show now than what it started out as. The og seasons were more personal and character driven while the newer seasons are more lore and plot driven. Niether is better than the other imho, both halves have their own flaws and considering One Piece as a series spans almost 1200 episodes, i think its done an excellent job at staying fresh. Especially when compared to similar series like Dragon Ball or Naruto.

I agree with some points like chopper not having much to do in post timeskip(even tho he and carrot were essential in finding out the mirror world exist in WCI) but there are things i feel are kinda not great here and i disagree with 12:18 Luffy's fruit being the Hito Hito no mi model Nika was kinda set up throughout post timeskip. Gear Fourth Bound Man and Snake Man have the steam rings and with snake man have the flame hair that Gear Fifth does. So it was planned for a while before the actual fruit was revealed. 12:25 Zoro still has some good character moments post timeskip. While theyre not obvious and not what you might have wanted it to be, Zoro still has moments that are more than just him being "the guy who cuts things". Also Zoro's family tree really isnt as important to Zoro's character as Sanji's was so there was no real reason to include it in the main chapters. 12:48 while Usopp hasnt had a major 1 on 1 fight since Dressrosa doesnt mean Usopp has done nothing since Dressrosa. Usopp helped Nami weaken Ulti so that Nami could have an easier time winning against her. Usopp had good moments in Wano 14:22 Brook went toe to toe with Big Mom. You gotta give him credit there. The fact Brook not only fought Big Mom and even touched her with his sword is pretty massive. Brook also broke the picture of Mother Carmel disguised as Luffy. There was also the part that Brook had 3 road ponegliffs printed out in his skull. Brook fought Big Mom again in the massive chase between Big Mom and the straw hats and even asked to see her panties. Also in Wano, Brook saved Robin out of her demon form so that the other straw hats dont have to see her that way. I get its a joke, but like, it implies Brook has done nothing in post timeskip which is simply not true.

Pre timeskip is amazing. But imo, Post TS wins. The scale, complexity and the way the arcs tie into each other to create a constantly moving world around the strawhats completely elevates OP from being a great shounen to becoming the greatest piece of fiction of it's era.

In pre ts it never felt like that and although the writing was very good it didnt make me take it all that seriously in the grand scheme of things. Im not talking about the summit war here cause obviously that was very important to the overall story but everything besides that just felt like the straw hats going island to island without any final goal

@@fatinahmed5406 You're only looking at the bigger picture. Writing wise pre ts was better. Like just take a look at wano it was a whole mess. Post ts had too many characters that the main straw hats didn't develop enough. Which is why I didn't really like post ts all that much. The whole story also felt very repetitive to me, straw hats go to island, meet oppressed character, kill the evil colonist, and leave. The new world also felt very underwhelming since every straw hat won their fights and no one got any fatal injuries that would have a long lasting effect except for luffy(his overuse of gears). But hey, we all have our preferences.
