I bought the Ludwig CM from DCNH and ended up trading them for a Pro-Beat model set of Keystones....and wow do these drums rattle the walls! The 24x14 has the "levee breaks" sound & the floor tom is amazing! Other than lug design, they are the same shell as these KX model. I HIGHLY recommend these Keystone X's to anyone who listens to this video and wonders if it is somehow enhanced via mics & processors....these drums DO sound that good!

Think I'm going to go into business too Shane, just so I can fulfill my desire to try it all! lol! Another great offering here from Ludwig. I always appreciate your honesty and personal insight. Also I think everybody's aware that when you sit down to record a demo, cold, at 8 am you're not going to perform like Thomas Lang, but you do a great job regardless. We see and hear the drums clearly so the point is delivered. If you wanted to do a video of you at your best, showing off, it may make people admire your drumming ability, but wouldn't sell the drums perhaps.

Just ordered a set of these in blue sparkle from Chuckie at Drum Center NH in sizes 10, 12, 13, 16, and 22. Nice guys to deal with, and prices that are tough to beat. I had a set of Keystone's a few years back before the X's came out, and I loved them. From what I hear, these are even better. I "need" to order more things from DNH, I can't help it.

I have been a Sonor nut for a long time. But, this time around I wanted to get something both affordable and AMERICAN MADE. I asked Shane (who knows what I usually like) and the only kit he mentioned was this one. I watched this video and a few others and concluded that this was a great line in a well established brand. I played Ludwig 25 years ago but never bought a brand new set. I fine tuned the drums (13, 16, 24) with a TuneBot using their APP to determine the best tunings, and man-the kick is as large as life. It and the toms have incredible attack, and a fast decay-which really appeals to me. Incredible woody tone, too!

I got a Keystone X kit! It is incredible. With the 3 ply maple core....you get a warm, rounded tone...add the oak and you have a punchy but dry effect. It suits me very well. Loving it. Overall sound is very Ludwig!!

To me, that is the most impressive kit that I've heard in a long time. I bought a steel 14x5 402 a few years ago and that drum is a killer. I'm being brought around to the Ludwig way...

Hi. I've just ordered the Classic Oak in Tennessee Whiskey. 24,16,13. I understand it's basically the same kit as the Keystone X. I was wondering if you will be demo-ing a Classic Oak kit and if there is much difference between the Classic Oak and The Keystone X kits as most of the ones I've seen seem to have a wrap?

I was a big fan of Ludwig Epic, Loved the tone. But it doesn't compare to the Ludwig Keystone X. The classic Oak will be the next best option, but I have not seen it in a 5 piece with out snare. No one near me has any Classic oak. There is a Keystone X used but appears to have damage on the Kicker and 9 hour drive one way. Just a bummer. Man thanks for the video, I may just get my next Kit from you. What is 2 more hours of driving to get what you want. Still looking call Ludwig service Monday maybe just order the set and have it shipped to somewhere near me. Looks like another 3 grand on a kit. Thanks again!

What styles of music suit this kit best? Is the volume and attack that much more than say, Classic Maples? Is it versatile? trying to decide if the Classic Maples are worth the extra money.

I would say harder rock, as they are more thick sounding, less overtones, less highs, more focus and cut but not bright...a bit muted and less dynamic than the classic maple highs, which to me are too bright and attacking anyways, so these keystones kill for less sensitive harder playing where you dont want all the overtones and brightness that people usually damped out anyways...these dont need any dampening you can run them wide open w single ply heads...they actually sound more like vintage recorded 60s early 70s ludwigs...that vintage thud on all those albums you can get right out of the box with these, as you can hear shane playing here

According to the Ludwig website, the Pro Beat set comes with a 9x13 tom, 16x16 floor tom and... ..16x24 kick.

The green sparkle is a C&C kit, probably a Player Date II judging by the finished hoops. The other kit looks like a Tama to me.
