As you say, nice that they have recognised the problem in the first place and done something to fix it. Even to me it looks like a quick fix and not something that has had some R&D applied to it. Your fix is so much better giving the size of the insert and the additional strength from the one piece rather than 2 little corner pieces.

Hi Raul - Thanks for posting. I firmly believe that your technical and calm approach to pointing out the frame manufacturers lack in proper design, makes a big difference. Keep up the good Work 👍 PS. I don't mind you letting us know how your holiday went. 🤓

Good to see you back Raoul. It's plain as day that your modesty, knowledge and unassuming nature come to the fore (as always). Kudos to you for encouraging, cajoling and acknowledging Cannondale's attempt .....but for me I know which fix I would insist upon (RL). For me half a fix from Cannondale is NOT a proper solution. Let's stick a couple of metal nibs in the corner from Cannondale seems to me to still risk concentrating more than necessary load on those single points, albeit through the nibs. Rather than using your all encompassing solution, a metal plate fully bonded across the entire head tube introducing substantially more load spread, rigidity and addressing torsional force issues in full. Smacks of quick fix and penny pinching from Cannondale ..........really by now you'd thought they would / should know better. Fifteen years ago they did, now it's a race to the bottom. Where has the integrity and leadership disappeared to in this once highly regarded brand ?

I had a 2021 SSE which destroyed its own headtube - no crashing, it was babied, but it still slowly chipped away on the inside. I made a warrantee claim to Cannondale which they replaced (great) but said that it wasn’t part of the warranty, it was on good faith only. Doing the right thing but totally not fessing up to their own problems..

Nice having you back!! I have a question for you, how good are Ridley bikes you had come into your shop? I'm looking at "old" Ridley bikes like the Noah (2012-2014 mainly) and modern ones to an extent. Thank for your videos Raoul, always a pleasure to watch

Welcome back! Glad they fixed (somewhat) the issue. Always trying to maximize the profits/minimize the costs. 🤦‍♂️ Oh well, brands come and brands go. I was curious if you have an opinion on chemical impact on unfinished carbon? I was watching another video where there was literally rust running out of a headset bearing and down the fork. The point of the video was to highlight the complication of a bearing replacement with a fully integrated cockpit, but I was more concerned regarding the water contamination, rust, broken down grease impact on the raw steerer and bearing seat.

Hi Raul, much appreciating your video's! Have you seen the new Supersix model with triangular steer tube? And what are your views on it? It seems to solve problems of the previous model but I wonder if the new steer tube shape would lead to any new issues. Thanks

CAN NOT say the same for Specialized. my Venge's fork is an absolute shocker! Same issue as the Tarmac, but not only Specialized refuse to acknowledge this defect, they desperately want me to buy a new fork AND WANTED THE OLD ONE BACK! What a joke of a company and a £6.5k bike!!!!

Hi Raoul, thank you for your work and offering a solution. Did you have a chance to see how the 2022 supersix headtube is done? Is it the same as the fix on 2021 model with the small corner plate? Thanks again

There is another frame that destroys itself. the Lapierre aero frame (aircode) has no stops on the aero fork, so the only way it stops is to smash into the frame. They said that problem would be solved on the next model, but they said that with the release of that bike. It baffles me that they dare to release the bike in the first place if they know the problem and mention it themselves... Not only does the fork gets destroyed, but the frame as well. The warranty claims on that bike will be countless I think. It really bothers me that manufacturers develop bikes with flaws that they know of and yet sell them. Also, if you look at the new c'dale in the video, there is cable rub in the front of the carbon head tube. How long until it rubs trough...

I have not seen this model. I agree that it is less than ideal to release a bike with known design flaws.

@@LuescherTeknik If you go to the site, the new 2022 model has something on the fork, so I suspect it has a solution now, but the 2021 model (that's still for sale) doesn't.

I can tell you why you have a heavy chamfer on one side. It's dremel'ed afterwards for the fit (there is no engineering behind it, unless you count grinding down until fits as engineering 😉). Cool that they've done something but it looks a bit cheap and dodgy.

If this issue is so obvious, it looks like that a lot of ignorance was involved in releasing this product. First- in designing it. How is that possible in your opinion that a bike with that type of issue was designed, prototyped, tested and manufactured in big quantities??.... I guess it's not the question of reducing the manufacturing cost because it's not cheaper to make it thay way. My impression is the people who design those products have no clue what they do. I have no technical education but can see what risk is hidden there straight away. Why can't they?

Now they should only backengineer external Cable Routing and Rim Brakes and im a future Cannondale Customer.
@sbccbc7471
@sbccbc7471 2 жыл бұрын
The SuperSix EVO still has a rim brake counterpart (now on direct-mount) and its routing config is conventional internal routing (enters the frame from the down tube instead of the top of the head tube). External routing refers to what 20th-century road bikes have.

@RollinRat It is all about Veblen Good & Impulsive buying emotion (95% buying decision came from emotion). Rich guy will buy it anyway. The one who are always/capable enter the race tournament will buy it too. The problem is the people who don't have money in the bank a week/two before payday and not entering any tournament. This kind of guy buy thing with emotion. Our country's currency is low and it will make 5 times crazier when purchase things. They will look down to people who ride cheap bike and worshipping the expensive bike. Most of them buy expensive house/car/motorbike/bike and at the same time complain about their own children's need such as school fee. That is why I always ride alone and enjoy it. I still join the ride group and it is what it is. I treat it as an exercise tool at the same time improve my personal strength/stamina/health. I assemble/fix my own bike.
