100% agree. So well shot/filmed. It appears as if the whole thing was not staged for the movie though of course it was. One of the great scenes in movie history. Frozen in time. It could not have been done more perfectly. 2:37 forward is particularly poignant.

Wow! This made me tear, remembering how NY used to be before the pandemic, and we all used to come out to dance whenever taxi drivers blasted music outside our HS, or whenever princesses went to Central Park and everyone got together for synchronized dancing. Those were the days.. 😌👍

That whole era was the best! I was in 9th grade when this came out. The 80s had the best movies and soundtracks. Irene was on top with #Fame & #Flashdance.

2:39 on after Bruno's dad starts fighting & the cameras pan out until the end of the sequence. Some of the greatest footage ever put on film. Goosebumps every time. Happy 40th+ anniversary Laguardia (really from a Fame standpoint)! RIP Alan Parker!

The building they are coming out of is actually a church on West 46th Street in Manhattan, directly across the street from the former high school that inspired the movie and the TV series. The school wouldn’t allow the film to be shot in or outside the school. The church still stands; the high school has moved to Lincoln Center, although the building still exists.

This song will always stay with me forever. It’s a shame music like this isn’t made that often anymore. This song drew many emotions and made me braver and happier and it’s sad that music today doesn’t convey the same feelings as music made in the past decades. Loved this song and Irene Cara for being the one to sing it.

Great director, Midnight Express, Bugsy Malone etc but I think he may have been a bit of a prick. He hated Brian De Palma, hated the kids from Fame, hated Scott Baio and Jodie Foster. Just saw a pattern forming A weird directorial CV. you could never accuse him of sticking to one style

Que lindo recuerdo. Cuando en los cines estaban repletos de gente.. y uno se iba caminando contento con sus amigos.. en dentro de la sala de cine ocupa vamos todos una fila del barrio la mayoría jóvenes de 13 a 17 años los mayores hacían otra fila con sus hijos pequeños..que tiempos aquellos. creó nunca volverá a ver otra generación que vuelva a vivir así ..unos se divertían conscientes sanos de sus cabales si ningunas influencias...
