100% agree. So well shot/filmed. It appears as if the whole thing was not staged for the movie though of course it was. One of the great scenes in movie history. Frozen in time. It could not have been done more perfectly. 2:37 forward is particularly poignant.

Wow! This made me tear, remembering how NY used to be before the pandemic, and we all used to come out to dance whenever taxi drivers blasted music outside our HS, or whenever princesses went to Central Park and everyone got together for synchronized dancing. Those were the days.. 😌👍

The building they are coming out of is actually a church on West 46th Street in Manhattan, directly across the street from the former high school that inspired the movie and the TV series. The school wouldn’t allow the film to be shot in or outside the school. The church still stands; the high school has moved to Lincoln Center, although the building still exists.

This song drew many emotions and made me braver and happier and it’s sad that music today doesn’t convey the same feelings as music made in the past decades. Great director, Midnight Express, Bugsy Malone etc but I think he may have been a bit of a prick. He hated Brian De Palma, hated the kids from Fame, hated Scott Baio and Jodie Foster. Just saw a pattern forming A weird directorial CV. you could never accuse him of sticking to one style
