Luffy isn't actually cold/has no spatial awareness he just realised that he can't impose on Nami's life without her relying on him. That's how he has gotten everyone on the crew to follow him. Because he realised they were giving up their dreams and holding themselves back it's been a consistent theme throughout the whole recruiting phase of the straw hats. To follow Luffy is to follow your dreams, rely on him and you won't have anything to worry about

This is the moment where Luffy became my favorite protagonist. His Iq may not be the highest...but you eventually realize that whenever he is being silent (We never really get to hear his thoughts so maybe sometimes he really doesn't give a shit😂) his Eq and ability to read people shines through which makes him a man worth following. I love how he didn't even listen to Nami's backstory and was already willing to help. It don't matter who it is if someone makes a member of his crew cry, he is about to beat the living shit out of that person.

they all saw her stab herself..and no one talked about it...they just hear luffy out as captain who changes their plans......we don't know if they had a plan to help nami after meeting up..we never saw them meet up so we don't know if they all just arrived met luffy first or met up there....all we get is luffy stopping her and telling them to go and they agree...how luffy knows where to go i have no idea...maybe zoro told him prior to seeing nami where arlong park is or on the way there but its just great how they don't show any of that..we get the heart of the story...for maximum impact...its great....luffy is helping and the others know her story so they help too except zoro who just helps cause he was saved by nami and luffy said so....he trusts his cap to do the right thing..and help him when he needs it no matter what...even if it has nothing to do with his goal..nami is someone he wants to help even if she does not come along...

That line of Nami saying " taskete " can be translated as " help me " , "help us" or simply " help " because the sentence doesn't include pronouns. It depends on the context , so you can choose whatever translation you prefer , but since we know how much weight she carried caring about the townsfolk , I think " help " is the most fitting .

The reason he can't do himself taller is because of one of the properties of rubber called FLEXIBILITY, it refers to an ability to deform/stretch and return to its original form when applied stress is remove. So technically he can make himself taller, but it needs a constant stress/force to maintain that tall and it is very exhausting.

It's not so much that Luffy didn't care about Usopp, he just didn't believe he was actually dead. Luffy also wasn't being heartless or anything by waiting for Nami to ask for help. Before she could pursue her dream of mapping the world, her current dream is to save her village and Luffy doesn't want to intrude on that without being actually asked. It's the same reason that even when it seemed like Zoro was going to die to Mihawk he waited until the fight was over to do anything. Luffy is surprisingly emotionally mature even now, even if he's not gifted in practical maturity. Also, a "dan" is essentially a rank above black belt if I'm remembering correctly. So 40th dan would be black belt plus 40 ranks.

The scene of nami asking luffy for help... Is not only the scene that caused me to binge the show... But was the episode I told anyone who was about to watch it to get to before judgement. Arlong park was the first moment that truly showed the essence of the show... Or better the moment that truly made luffy a beloved character... Yes he's a bit dumb... Yes he's childish... And yes he'll do whatever it takes to protect someone he calls a friend... As someone who is caught up to the manga that is one aspect of luffy that will be a constant, and to me, that's why I love him as a character... He is different from someone like Naruto for the simple fact that he does not care about what could happen, but constantly fights for his friends.. he is the embodiment of the phrase "whatever floats your boat just don't sink mine" he will do dumb shit but the moment someone he seems a friend is threatened he's down to ruin their shit.. multiple arcs can literally be described as "friend of luffy gets fucked with, luffy and the gang fucks them up In return"

Luffy doesn't care about people's backstories because what he cares about is the present. In his perspective backstories aren't going to change his views on who he believes that person is in the present. He also has high EQ (Emotional Quotient) in other words he is very emotional intelligent. He can read people better than most and can judge them better than others in the series. Luffy doesn't cross the line that others cross which is that he doesn't force his help to others. In this case, Luffy doesn't actually help Nami until she asks for help. It doesn't mean he'll abandon her when she first told him to leave the island it just means that he'll wait until they themselves decide on whether to ask for help since he values freedom more than anything, that includes the freedom to ask for help.

The Walk (tm) is the first of many One Piece scenes that I 100% highly recommend watching the entire scene through, start to finish, in it's entirety, as originally shown. There are definitely scenes with just as much, if not more, meaning to them later on... but The Walk to Arlong Park is the first truly meaningful scene of the crew simply showing their connections, their beliefs in each other, and their determination. "We are here to take down Arlong, and nothing is going to stop us. We will succeed, or we will die trying."
