Yh it's only part of it, don krieg is know as king if the east blue with a fifty ship fleet under his command and buggy was a tyrant so they got high bounties meanwhile arlong was basically chilling more or less, they acknowledged arlong strength for his bounty

12:25 That was a miss translation... they meaning that Arlong fought side by side with Jinbe when they were part of the same pirate group. It's the same as saying that Usopp fights side by side with Luffy, doesn't mean that Usopp is as strong as Luffy or Zoro, just that they're facing the same trouble together.

So the Buggy Episodes were all “Cover Arcs” in the manga. Basically Oda will start a chapter with a one off drawing, but sometimes those drawings tell a side story. So occasionally certain side characters will have their own many story chapter to chapter.

the ep where they meet Gaimon (ep 18 I think) isn't filler they just changed when it was supposed to happen in the manga they meet him after the orange town arc but in the anime, they meet him after syrup village so the only difference is Usopp is there.

Don Krieg was technically the "King of the East Blue" while Arlong mostly kept to the island he was taking hostage...I'm sure the Navy knew Arlong was stronger but Krieg was more of a destructive force. Also Krieg wasn't that much weaker than Arlong...he might've been a coward hiding behind expensive armor, but before Luffy that armor never cracked. If Arlong were not near water, I'd say Krieg would beat him

nah, in the sub he watched it said he was on par with Jinbei, and in the official Viz translation it says "he used to be Jinbei's equal", which is obviously not true, but nothing says Yosaku is supposed to be a reliable source of information. maybe that's all he said in japanese but both translations say otherwise so it's not even a misunderstanding on his part.

@@okhappiness4773 having just re read the Fishman Island Arc where we get more backstory with Jinbei and Arlong, Jinbei is definitely the stronger of the two. Arlong was just a member of the crew while Jinbei was the 2nd in command behind Fisher Tiger. I think the simplest explanation is the truth got muddled over time/distance.

the reason for arlong don and buggy for being so close in bounty isn't bc it's based off strength. it's based off how much of a threat to the gov they see them as. don wasn't strong but he had a huge crew so he got a large bounty. and arlong wasn't making any large moves bc the navy didn't know what he was doing at arlong park.

Quite a few people already mentioned it but just to add a bit... A coverstory in the manga... Oda usually begins all chapters of the manga with a coverpage that shows 1 of 3 things... a random fan request of something goofy with the characters, a surreal fantasy random picture of the strawhats doing fun stuff, or a few pictures of the characters that we meet along the way in previous chapters doing their own things... Now... some of the surreal random fantasy pictures make it into the anime openings... which is why we get some random vacation like weird scenes in the openings... Also the pictures of characters we have already met before sometimes become a cover story... which is for example the story about what happened to buggy after being defeated by luffy told in 1 page only each chapter for a few chapters in a row... few of these stories did make it to the anime (with scenes added to extend them) but all cover stories are canon to the manga...

Stuff that's mixed canon/filler is worth watching, as it's often a side story from the manga fleshed out with some anime-only content. You should watch anything labeled anime canon, too, as it's important to the flow of the anime's story. Specifically for the upcoming episodes, 50-51 is technically filler but is worth watching, as Loguetown is pretty short without them, and they're supposedly Oda's own story ideas he decided to cut from the manga so that Luffy could reach the Grand Line by manga chapter 100. You can skip the Warship Island arc.
