I love this podcast but yall never had a single opinion on One Piece I agreed with. Luffy is not free. Danny doesnt really know about his backstory in Goa yet, so Ill forgive him but once you get to that point its like: Luffy knows so intimately that living outside of society doesnt mean it cant reach or hurt you or the people you care about. Luffy is not unaware of how the world works he just doesnt let it stop him. Also 'what is a pirate' is something that is discussed all throughout One Piece and actively moving against the government is not it. Thats what the revolutionarys do.

I feel like Nick doesn't fully understand what the main overall theme of Naruto was because he has brought up this idea that side characters like Sakura, Rock Lee, and Neji better exemplify the show's message multiple times in the past as well. While in OG Naruto, the show is mainly about Naruto working hard to overcome being weak (blatantly being called "the weakest genin" multiple times), Shippuden is almost entirely about getting Sasuke to come back to the village. It might not make sense what the theme really is at this point, but once it's revealed that Naruto and Sasuke are reincarnations of two brothers who are pretty much destined to fight for eternity through their reincarnations, it becomes clear. The main theme is about overcoming the "bad" fate that you are destined for. Denying what people may stereotype you to be and showing them that you are better. And while other characters also demonstrate this, Naruto has been doing it from Day 1. This is why in OG Naruto the show was about Naruto working hard to get stronger by learning multi-shadow clone jutsu, summoning jutsu and the rasengan. Because everyone else had categorized him as the weird, loud kid who was weak. Once Sasuke leaves, the show becomes a show about getting him back. This is because it is the opposite of what previous reincarnations of Indra and Ashura would do. Naruto doesn't stop exemplifying the show's core theme, the fate/stereotype that he's working against just changes. TL;DR. Naruto isn't JUST about being born with nothing and working hard to get powerful. Naruto exemplifies the core themes of the show better than anyone else in the show. Minato isn't the strongest. The Child of Prophecy has nothing to do with strength.

The other side characters also represent this theme, but it takes them a while. Sakura becomes the strongest kunoichi and saves most of the main cast multiple times, but she was almost useless for all of OG Naruto. Rock Lee had a similar struggle to Naruto in the beginning and overcomes it as well, but it took him a whole extra year to get there because he graduated a year before Naruto. Sasuke took the longest because he definitely folded to the stereotype of what an Indra reincarnate is and it took him 2 whole shows to get to a point where he gets over it (mostly because of Naruto).

Also, Minato wasn't the strongest hokage. It was Hashirama. He was just a very talented ninja. And Naruto being the Child of Prophecy doesn't correlate to his strength either. It was about overcoming the hate in the ninja world and bringing about peace. I don't know why Nick didn't correct or inform Danny of this since Danny hasn't watched the whole show. I don't mind comparing the two shows, but for someone who is supposed to be the Naruto expert, Nick has a lack of understanding of what his main source of income is about.

I agree that most people won't put Luffy in their number 1 spot for fav One Piece character, but my belief is that you won't find him outside of most One Piece fans' top 3 out of that huge ensemble cast. Even if you put aside whether you like him standalone, he is probably your favorite character's ride-or-die and that dynamic is often compelling enough to get him up there alone. If you like Zoro for any of the obvious reasons, you also like Luffy for how they keep each other's edge. If you like Nami for being the brains, you like Luffy for being the brawn and for often being the reason the brains are necessary. etc...

They WILL not care that they were used. Harbor freight would probably be better because their generators are cheaper and relatively quiet.

I understand where Danny is coming from regarding Luffy since he is only in skypiea, but he is truly looking for freedom for himself and those around him, not only is he wanted as soon as he goes out to sea, but also meets people and goes places where tyranny is a given and he does everything he can to break the cycle. I think becoming the king of the pirates is his way of being free and spreading that freedom to everyone he knows

Narutos themes are: perseverance, overcoming hatred and being able to change your fate. He embodies ALL these themes. He never gives up, he literally overcomes not only his own hatred but so many other characters (zabuza Neji gaara pain obito kurama sasuke etc) and finally changes his fate by breaking the cycle of hatred. Nicks idea that narutos about “Hardwork beats talent” is wrong and is a very popular misinterpretation of the series. That’s why he thinks characters like sakura Neji lee and guy embody the themes better. That theme was lees theme not narutos. Narutos a great MC for his series if you actually know the themes.

I wanna say to Danny thinking that Luffy never changes as a character in Water 7, Luffy fights a crewmate and it's a really emotional moment and in a arc later down the line a crewmate goes to fight Luffy and Luffy refuses to fight back because he grew from the previous encounter and he knows his crewmate is the one really hurting and he won't give up on them

An important thing to consider is the possibility that as ai robots would expand and grow, they'd be superior but not necessarily malevolent. Just like the new generations of human are the hope for improvement and betterment of society, while culture and society adapt around them, same can be said for the robots. A lot of the issues with society essentially stem from humanity's inability to escape their own perspective and attempt to force their worldview into maintaining relevance when new ideas and minds should be taking hold to improve our lives. If humans benefit from a society where robots are allowed to shape society, there's literally no issue other than base tribalism. There's not a scenario where humans just die off or are subjugated, because the robots don't have the flaws that humans do that manifested such things. The best analogy I can think of it would be if we had the ideal world that was handicap accessible, to the best of our abilities as society and to the benefit of our "less dominant" groups. Wed essentially be the handicapped people in a society of robots but to a good extent not a shitty one like the current US or something.
