I still think they dropped the ball with this mechanic. They could have added another B button. There are two buttons that jump for no reason. Characters would go from appetizers to full course meals. Captain Falcon could actually use his gun, Link could have more items, Bayonetta could use other weapons, etc.

At the end of the day Sakurai intended for Smash to be a simple fighting game where anyone could pick it up and play. Maybe that's why it was never considered. Also we know he doesn't like to heavely alter characters movesets. Still would have been sick if not really hard for the team to balance out and make more characters.

Ganondorf's down B where he rises up and then goes diagnally forward with it was incredible for him. He also had an up B recovery that was higher distance and had vertical kiling power. It made him jump up a few tiers in my opinion.

Unfortunately, it'd probably just end up like Mortal Kombat 11. Every character would end up with a particular set of custom moves that would be ideal to use, and picking anything else would just be a waste of time. Not to mention that some of these customs had easy access to infinites and stuff.

Honestly Fiery Jump Punch having poor recovery can be made up for with Quick Missile and Mach Cyclone, because both have way more recovery potential than even just normal Jump Punch 💀

Missed Opportunity.. Tbh those 2 things including giving maybe a few other modes would of made me find it worth one day a play.. But even then there is hardly ANY Nintendo Games I find worth me going back to them and buying a Switch. Besides after the WII/WiiU stuff, the KZbin Affiliate Program crap, Fangame takedowns, the lackluster releases they pulled, to even the few times they did Paywall crap of basic features like a DIFFICULTY behind a Amiibo with Metroid: Samus Returns.. in 2017 I declared, NO MORE Nintendo stuff.

@@shyheimcarter5916 There was a glitch when Mewtwo was first released (patch 1.0.6) that allowed Mewtwo to "access his custom moves". Since they don't really exist, all that does is completely break the game. The glitch would be patched out of the game shortly after his release (patch 1.0.7).

Mach cyclone was absolutely busted. Not only did the increased height give you a better recovery option, but also pushed enemies closer to the blast zone and had unreasonably high knockback on that final hit. If you didn't mash you could use it on the ground as a kill move and if they try to jump or attack to avoid it, you could mash as the last second to catch them or get out of the way.
