I think the reason we are getting NSMB U Deluxe instead of a new NSMB game is because they are planning on going in a new direction with 2D Mario after this. Give the NSMB a swan song before going with a new art direction, and rebuilding the game mechanics from the ground up.

I don't think, or at least don't want them to do pixel art in the next 2D mario game. Keep that stuff to the indie games unless maybe its just for certain sections like what they did in Odyssey. I'd like to see them go away from 3D rendering in their side-scrolling Mario too though. What I'd like to see are HD sprites. Maybe they could have a hand drawn style to them, but they don't necessarily have to.

i feel like a lot of the direct hate is because everyone expected a big smash announcement so theres just a lot of salt that isabelle was revealed and not like. geno or skull kid. im super stoked for katamari personally, that was my highlight and its really really great that its on switch. even if somehow i didnt csre for anything shown in the direct katamari wouldve been my instant "10/10 direct"

Personally I was disappointed at first, 'cause there were exactly two things I was expecting from the direct: Mario Maker (either as a port, a sequel or whatever), and a new 2D Zelda (or, well, I guess they're all 3D now, but you know what I mean... Top down Zelda); and I got neither. But then, later reflecting upon it, I realized it was actually a pretty good direct, with some very neat reveals... Loads of Final Fantasies, which is always good... Plus, I've never played any Luigi's Mansion or Animal Crossing, but hey, maybe it's time I try it!

@@andromedasgarden the only thing i wanted during the direct was something rhythm heaven related, and ill admit it was basically only because there was news about nintendo renewing the trademark for it the same day, and id also really love to see karate joe in ultimate, but it didnt happen. but as i said, im so absolutely positively stoked for katamari on switch you have NO idea. its ok to be disappointed but i dont think its reasonable to call the direct bad, especially when there were so many good not smash announcements. how many satanic summoning circles have been made in hopes of a new animal crossing again?

@@angelofdeathgabriel1610 I've been thinking about that as well, with Daisy it could be shyguys/shygirls but in smash her move set uses toads this could easily been because she's a echo of peach but maybe she does rule over toads since we know very little about sarasaland and we know for a fact toads don't just live in the mushroom kingdom (since toads do live in the bean bean kindom) but for Rosa it's a bit difficult for right now I believe she was a mushroom kingdom resident similar to Mario and Luigi but when she became the princess of the Galaxy she became larger (I'm referring to her size in her Cannon games which is way taller than peach)

I think the dislike for this direct comes three-fold. Firstly, a lot of the stuff that were going to be surprise announcements ended up being leaked early due to the delay, so it seemed like that it was just repeating stuff that was known. Secondly, the hype for Smash once again rears it's head, with people being disappointing that someone huge wasn't dropped. Finally, the whole direct was soured with the online service, which people think is going to be trash, and is what I think got the ball rolling. I don't agree with many of these ideas, I quite liked the direct personally (because LM3 exists. nuff said.). But, this is my understanding on the dislike for the direct.

Official digital versions of Yugioh never last (exept Duel Links, but it has different rules) because fan-made things like YGOpro and DuelingBook exist that let you just play the card game without having to grind/microtransaction your way to a full deck.

I'm pleased with the Direct. There weren't a ton of new first party announcements, but the ones we got for Luigi's Mansion 3, Animal Crossing, and Town were great. I am looking forward to playing FF VII on the Switch as well. The 3DS getting ports is alright to me. My only port request remaining is Mario & Luigi Partners in Time so we can play the entire franchise on 3DS.

Luigi's Mansion 3 Hype. Kirby's extra epic yarn. I get why it's on 3ds the freaking Trains levels, having a touch screen will make it a ton a Times easier. Town looks interesting I'll have to see more but I am interested for sure. Mecha game looks hype think I may pick it up. Yoshi Crafted world looks good hope it's sound track lives up to woolly world. I have never heard if any if those table top games may try some if there is ever a break in Indies Madness. Starlink looks cool, I will wait for some Let's plays just to make sure but will probably get it. Final Fantasy 7 and 9 baby now 1-6 please. Also KH 1.5+2.5 please Square. ( a lot if people don't like 8 I don't remember the reason) I never wanted Isebelle outside of an assist in smash but i am totally fine with her. Also rip Chugga's free time.

Why are you positioning the mission-based structure of Dark Moon as "what fans don't want" when plenty of fans enjoyed it? Why not have Luigi's Mansion 3 be a mix of exploration & missions? There are multiple floors so I bet there's a way the people behind 3 can make that work.

While I can't speak for everyone, It still was a controversial change to the game's Formula... Dark Moon used a mission based Formula because it was a handheld game meant for short play sessions, forcing Luigi out of the mansion was the game's way of saying "You can do real life stuff now" One of the reasons why people hated the Mission structure was because it broke the game's sense of exploration and pacing... every mission had Luigi explore one chunk of the mansion, and often times you'd hit a dead end when you try to go off the beaten path (One of the few exceptions was the last mansion, as you actually had to go out of your way to get some of the collectables) The mission structure naturally limits exploration, hence why they made multiple mansions to explore different environments and gimmicks Another issue stemmed from the fact that you get kicked out after every mission, and when it comes to extended play sessions... can get annoying fast for some people... You could argue that the original also kicks you out of the mansion, but that only happens after bosses, and even then, there are times where you need to backtrack to earlier areas for boos and portrait ghosts (prime example being the twins in Area 1) With the switch's pick up and go nature, one might argue that the mission structure is more suited for the new game... but the switch isn't for Handheld games, it gives you full triple A games that you can take on the go I'd argue that they should remove the misison structure and allow you to just save whenever you want, make it simple to just jump right back in if you choose to quit. While I think having a set objective for the general area would help players from forgetting what they need to do which leads to unnecessary frustration, Luigi should stay in the actual Mansion as much as possible... If you made it this far, congrats! You may not agree with me, and that's okay, different opinions and all that... this is just my opinion on the game's structure, it's hard to judge a game on a 30 second trailer... so all we can do about the actual game is wait and see
