I love how you find different mediums to print on. I had something I wanted to share with you so badly. My husband works at a papermill and brought home a sample of something that they throw into the vat to make construction paper with. It looks and feels like a super heavy matte photo paper. I put in through my printer and...oh my word! This stuff prints like a dream. One side is more matte and the other is a little more glossy....almost satin. Both sides print so clear and crisp! And they stamp even better, but ink has trouble drying. It will dry over time, but you can smear it pretty easy while you're working if you're not careful. I wanted to send you some because I know you would love it, but I did a shipping estimate and I don't have the money available to ship it. UGH! I wish so much that you could try this stuff. They call it "envelope" in the mill, but it doesn't remind me of any kind of envelope I've ever seen. If I am ever in Germany, I am going to bring this stuff with me and get it to you somehow!!!!

This was like watching a kaleidoscope come to life! The visual textures, elements, colors! WOW!! Even though this was a "tape" video, I would love digital papers with these amazing results! Luise, you remind me of Marga Faulstich a German glass chemist who, through constant exploration and experimentation, created over 300 different types of lenses for eyeglasses, microscopes and binoculars used both personally and industrially. She was also holder of over 40 patents for her work in glass chemistry. Congratulations -- I unofficially award you a patent as the inventor of "self-adhesive ink kaleidoscope tape"! Incredible!! 🥳

I think there is something in the collective at the moment as I am seeing a number of red based journals on line. I have been making a journal for my son. It's called On Red Mountain and has a lot of my poetry incorporated in it. I love red and have used it in my art for a long time. I just bought your guitar papers and am so excited. As I look into them, I can see landscapes and even mystical figures which I will enhance and play around with. I think the reason you got a yellow residue left from the red ink but not from the blue has to do with the pigments in the spray inks. Arohanui from me in Aotearoa New Zealand. ❤❤❤

Absolutely fabulous and fun project!! Especially using the scotch tape. Quite doable! "In my eyes," I think that you got yellow because it was one of the main colors used to make your brown. Red is a primary color, so no color mixed in. The blue also has yellow as a mix-in. I hope this is helpful! Of course, you could always ask Tim😉😁

I was inspired by your suggestion of printing on clear adhesive sticker paper.. I ordered some that same day, and It arrived the day I was printing out some papers for an autumn journal. I’m not good at fussy cutting, so I ended up putting the fussy cut pages on the clear adhesive stickers. They printed out beautifully - I may have to put all my fussy stuff on that clear adhesive. Thanks for the inspiration. One of these days I may find the courage to try and emulate some of your other creative experiments. Keep up the good work.

I thoroughly enjoyed and was fascinated by today’s experimenting! I will love playing with this sticker paper. The only thing I can think of with the brown and the peacock feather ink is that the brown has some yellow in it, whereas the peacock doesn’t. Maybe the yellow is a stain from the brown spays, ‘else like you, I can’t figure out why the peacock remainder was so whitish. Looks like so much fun. Thanks, Luise.😊

Luise your work is always stunning I love it! Have you considered that because the ink is still sitting on top of the sticker paper that the water is just reactivating the ink. That's why it looks like it has depth because the ink is still sitting on top, even though it is dry it's not soaked into the paper. Just a thought again I love all your experiments your creations are amazing!!

I think the reason the peacock was not so yellow is because you put it on an area that had already been "activated"? If you put the peacock on a spot of the red or black without previous experimenting I think it might give you that bright yellow. Just a thought.

Hello Luise, It seems that the ink isn't fast on the sticker paper because you used an inkjet printer. I would be curious what happens were you to print on sticker paper for a laser printer (using a laser printer). Even when printing on regular paper, inkjet ink is not stable when wet, the ink will bleed. As far as the yellow, it may be that this has to do with what the ink does to stain the sticker paper film. It could be that the composition of the yellow IN THE INK, is what determines how yellow it would stain the paper film. This seems to make sense with red, because there was likely more yellow with the red combined with brown spray stain, and there is likely more yellow though not as much in peacock feathers spray stain, which is in the blue range. I myself would not be comfortable using such a medium knowing it is so vulnerable to water (making what you called slime). It would only make sense if you used a fixative after it is dry, to make it water resistant. In any case I commend your curiosity to experiment. Not all experiments will be successful, but they may point you to what to try next. I think this is one of those experiments. Keep going! ❤

Oh poor Luise 🥺 Your bathroom alcohol ink adventure sounds so distressing (no pun intended lol). It sounds like the alcohol ink on the photo/sticker paper needs some kind of strong varnish coat to protect it from water. I hope you are able to liaise with an industrial chemist to find a solution (again, pun not intended!). I’ve been fixing scratches in paint on a car & I wonder if the top layer of a gloss coat that is the same as the car’s glossy coating, would seal it in & ensure it wouldn’t react with water (since car paint doesn’t react with water). If you try it, use a proper mask though.
