The mentality, the dominance, the trash talk, he gets triple teamed and can’t be stopped, he steps up his game even further come playoff time and just does things nobody else can. Gotta give credit to Dinwiddie and the Dallas defence though last night. Dinwiddie balled out too and the D was hustling for every single play even when they were up 40. Kidd and Luka are creating something special in Dallas.

As a Mavs fan, I would say he's always been special but there has definitely been growth and maturation on his part. Still complains a little too much for me, but he's learned to reign that in and focus on the game more. When he does that, he's very hard to beat and his greatness really shines.

Luka got a weird off-season type of elevation man. After clippers game 6 loss (2020), he prioritized on his midrange with dirk fade, Next year losing to Clippers Game 7 (2021), he focused more on FTs with balance 3s (35%+), This year Warriors (game 5) in WCF, I feel like he will look into more defensive help points and improving his midrange again to what he had in 2021. Only cavet on Luka's game that has been consistent in critics is his defense which is not great or average, he got pretty much up there with average near the end of the season with DRTG numbers but that only means so much. If Luka comes up with defense this offseason, + if C.Wood embraces JKidd system, the Powell/Luka combo that seems normal might change to an elite offensive weapon, ESP if mavs run when comfortable, A Brunson/Luka/DFS/Cwood/Maxi type of lineup

@@johnchoi2901 court vision, reading the floor, passing, less ball utilization. He takes up 12-16 second of the clock by himself. Being able to post up on the right block and fade away right shoulder AND left. He can only spin one way. Things like that. And most importantly, learning how to use his body and feet on defense. Since he is slower he cannot play you straight up closely, so giving defenders space allows them room to dribble and blow pass if they have a fast first step.

Playing a bit more off-ball and catch & shoot 3, actually scratch that, he needs to practice his shot from a right hand dribble His 3pt from a left hand dribble is already elite, but he struggles when has to shoot with the same hand the dribble comes from, and doesn't have even to be 3s, just midrange shot in such situations would be enough 🙂

He had big numbers in Game 1 and 2 as an iso player, but Dallas lost those. Once his point total dipped and relied more on his mates, Dallas started winning. He also needs to clean up his free throw percentage. If he had Dirk's FT percentages, he would terrify every defender in the league.

Hardaway Jr most likely second best player on team, in his absence Brunson has advanced as expected. Offensive output is not as high as it can be because of his responsibilities, he became a tough defender who works very hard and he's the most vocal person on the team. His 14 points / 4 reb / 3 ast is underrated for sure. If somebody doesn't understand what Dallas is truly missing then they don't understand the value of raw effort and they don't remember how deadly a microwave is in this league. He's the guy who averages 14 cuz he scores 6-10 a lot and scores 17-25 a lot. He also has respect of his opponents meaning players understand who they are messing with. How dangerous can Dallas be next year? the size, ability and toughness of Finney-Smith, Bullock, Dinwiddie and THJ is pretty crazy. That Leaves Luka never on the court without protection and Dinwiddie will be a far far better defender in this system next year. Dallas will rotate starters a lot i would assume. THJ and Dinwiddie are perfect team to come off bench together. Dallas future will rely on players restructuring contracts, can't get by with Bertans being owed that much. Can't trade him or keep him, also rough that basically Bobans existence doesn't help even though he's a delight. Wasted money and roster spot. Dedication to Powell should pay off because i would assume injury and being average will make him super affordable and while us Mavs fans can be rude we'd be lucky for the guy to play here another 4 years just rather him fall down depth chart so he can come off bench and really fly on dudes. The same way that Kleber is able to come in and drop 3's or play great defense. Cuz overall Kleber lacks a lot defensively but off the bench for effort minutes Kleber comes up big on defense he just gets exposed the more he's out there.

I personally think he’s the best player still left in the playoffs. He’ll probably be the best player in the league next season. I mean Giannis is the best right now, but Lukas team is worse and he still beat the number one seed in the league. Yeah the Celtics are a really good team but the Suns were deep too and they had no answer for Luka. The Suns got better this season, I don’t think the Bucks would’ve beat them this season especially without Middleton. Luka isn’t even all that bad on defense either; he was actually pretty efficient against CP3 in this playoff series.

Everyone else can't score and just standing. They just took advantage of the trash team. Before playoffs they loss to all good teams. Boston, bucks, heat, etc. 1 of the worst offense ever for 1st seed.
