Would they all have been getting the amount of first team football they got elsewhere in order to progress their skills to get where they are now? Lukaku took years to grow to the form he is in now, and while he was gone, Chelsea had Costa banging in goals, won both a PL, Europa and UCL. Who knows how good KDB would have been if he had to compete for game time vs Hazard, or how well he would have grown under the 20 different managers Chelsea went through. If they all came back to Chelsea in top form now it would be amaing, but one of the problems with being a top club, is it can be hard to give these top players game time when your trying to develop them, but you are also expected to win most games. Both Salah and KDB had been on loan a few times, and were sold to other clubs where they got full playing time, before they got sold on to Liverpool/ManC

Ok, let’s get this straight. All Chelsea fans who were watching the games last season saw that there was a problem, especially for the finishing. Chelsea’s finishing ratio was very poor, that’s why they decided to buy a striker, which it’s now the case with RL. We all know that Werner had a poor finishing overall, he might actually benefits from the Lukaku transfert, with his runs and the way RL can linkup with player like Mount, Ziyech, Havertz, etc… RLs progression has been incredible since he first came at the club, especially during his Prem’ time. He just had maybe his last 2 best seasons in career. After winning the CL, Chelsea NEED to do something great, to kinda send a message to the rivals, so, no disrespect to Tammy, you can’t win the league with Abraham, even though he’s scoring goals, he need to improve in some areas of his game (physical strength, linkup, first touch, decisions). The price might be expensive but, the Haaland saga was just a bunch of nonsense to me, we are talking about spending maybe 170M on a kid, with a huge potential obviously, but that’s kinda scary when you think about it. RL is a Chelsea man, we all know that. He was the only REAL option available for Chelsea (no way Levy selling Kane to CHE), so it make sense for me.

Lukaku is an extremely good one dimensional player who did not fit the United way. At the time in United he was suffering health issues which caused him to be overweight which contributed to the lack of technical ability and lack of support from fans(although at the time it was thought that he was just carrying too much weight for unknown reasons). He's done very well against mid-table teams and had an awful record against the top 6. United were right to sell. Ole Gunnar, although came off the bench for united and scored less goals was a more suitable striker for the United way of playing and he was happy to get rid. We have Mason coming through who will beat Rooneys record.

I think werner deserves another chance. He has shown what he can do (in the bundesliga) and he has had one year to adjust in the premier League. Plus he had many goals disallowed. I think last season it was a combination of bad luck and the transition to the prem. Anyone can have one bad year. Furthermore kai havertz also underperformed in terms of goals but he seems to have regained his confidence. 115million isn't worth it

I seem to remember us United fans saying his goal scoring was great but he ruined a lot of build up play because at the time we were reliant on the striker being involved in the creativity as we didn't have a number 10. If we had Lukaku now with Bruno and Sancho no United fan would be complaining this season because all he would need to do was be in the box and score goals.

Completely agree with this. Chelsea re-signing him for this price is almost as bad as United re-signing Pogba. I always believed he could be one of the best strikers in the world. He didn't help himself by piling on the pounds but he was still a damn good goalscorer. I never understood why he wasn't given the faith like Lingard/Pereira. There have been a lot of players cleared out at United but he shouldn't have been one. If we can fit Cavani into this team, we could have kept Lukaku and sold Pogba when we had the chance. Any way rant over (just needed to vent on this)

Agree that Lukaku gets a bit too much disrespect for someone with his goal scoring ability, but to say that he has made more of an impact on football than Michael Owen is more than a bit ludicrous in my eyes. I can’t see Lukaku being signed by Real Madrid in their Galacticos period or winning the Ballon d’Or (or being in the top three). Not to mention, Owen is technically better than Lukaku, even if Lukaku is a (marginally) better goalscorer. That’s not even mentioning that, though he is a great goalscorer, his all-round play (which he seems to have drastically improved while in Italy) was the source of most of the scrutiny.
