I think a lot of the chemistry between Alex and Luke is down to the chemistry between Charlie (Luke) and Owen (Alex)... they confirmed that they lived together during filming, just them two (Jeremy had a girlfriend/fiance and Madison was obviously very young still), and so they became accustomed to using each other as a sounding board for ideas or conversations and became comfortable with each other and it bleeds onto the screen when they look at each other first or do something just them two because of how close they are in real life and so their characters appear to have background issues or a relationship. I still ship these two SO HARD!!!!!! I need to see more of their supposed relationship... ideally like they did Unsaid Emily, a song (or 5) that Luke wrote for Alex and as they perform it, because Alex must find out and Julie wants to know who it is about, as they perform it, we get to see the flashbacks of their relationship and how they broke up. OR We could get a proper episode with it being played out in "real time" like the first episode when they told us it was 1995. My idea is that Julie discovers a song that Luke wrote for Alex or that Alex wrote for Luke (which would be really special since Luke writes most things, not Alex) or Reggie tells her about them having dated and so they have to explain it to her since she doesn't understand. And the only conclusion would be for Luke and Alex to get together in the end... Julie can have Nick or Reggie
