It would be great if we knew what round it was so it’s easier to follow

Coming from America, the one and only bit of criticism I have about ultimate pool (and I would assume this is the case for even pub tables around the UK? Please correct me if I’m wrong,) is how IMMENSELY forgiving the side pockets with their rounded knuckles are on these tables. It makes the game so much easier, it makes an incredibly wide array of shots possible that simply are not possible on the tables we play on. Maybe that makes the gameplay go by quicker and thus more entertaining…but it cuts out quite the amount of tactical and precision play that exists in leagues like the WCPL or even just a bar table here in the states.

Couldn't agree more. My local district league in Kent (UK), the club tables we use - the pockets would not let a lot of these shots in at all. The margin for error looks huge in Ultimate pool and it does make it quite disillusioning to watch

@@lewishobbs1567 Definitely. It just makes it very difficult to tell what skill level the majority of players actually uphold. Players like Chris Melling and Tom Cousins make their skill obvious. Chris has a diverse history of playing in all the major world leagues. But I often wonder how someone like TC would fare playing on like a traditional 9 foot Predator or Diamond table against a player like Shane Van Boening or Ko Pin Yi.

You are kidding. You guys invented the bucket size pockets 🤣

@@ahhahahaha12321434e2 I mean....tbh I don't know the history there but...I don't design pool tables homie, I just play on whats available....but the size of the pockets isn't even the issue, its the shape of the knuckles. I mean I'm not even upset about it, I'm just acknowledging that the round knuckles make it possible to pot balls in the side pocket from angles that are physically impossible on tables with sharp angled knuckles. The main point wasn't really about geography, I just mentioned being American for context. Not quite sure why you're being combative/condescending about it.

@@ahhahahaha12321434e2 Cue sports are different in many ways all around the world, Im not saying that any one way is better than another way. I guess I'm just saying that what I'm used to playing on gives me a skewed perspective watching this league/circuit...I still watch the ever loving shit out of it though. Lol Side note: the size of the pocket holes themselves on uk ultimate pool tables are around about the same as they are here, on average, give or take less than an inch in variation. But its kinda common sense that having rounded knuckles on the pockets makes it much easier to spin balls into whatever size pocket. I would love to play on a table like that someday just to see how right or wrong I am about that but I don't think it takes a genius to figure out the difference in physics.

@@indolencegaming Might be spread but its better to have a near levelled surface rather than a small bump of chalk
