LittlePajanda1964 this was my first linear groove I've ever learned. There's a variety of ways you can incorporate this groove onto your drum set and there's different variations of this groove you can make up

Much respect to Luke Holland. He is the perfect combination of ambition and natural talent. Its obvious that he has worked his butt off and tenaciously become a pioneer of KZbin's drumming community. To most 17 year olds its very scary to put yourself out there on the internet like that

I've been playing a lot of sambas recently and I've found that this groove sounds friggin awesome if you change the rhythm of the ride to 1e+2e+3e+4e+ or 1+a2+a3+a4+a.

So I watched this video a while back and have been practicing this groove ever since, and for some reason I really struggle with getting consistent sixteenth notes in my right foot, even after slowing it way down and building the speed back up. Any tips?

Actually the Beat isn‘t linear. The hihat and snare are played together on beat 3 which makes it non-linear

3, 6, 9, 12? It's simple stroke technique dudes. The groove is very simple, but as a fellow drummer I wish you all the best. I just wish that there wasn't so much effort put into a display of a simple groove!

It's how many inches above the skin your stick should be as you hit Ghosts are 3inch above Loud stroke 12inch

That's just bullshit! That's what it is. In other words, you better stick a measuring tape to your snare - otherwise you won't be able to perform this exercise because I don't see any groove in this pattern nor any sober reason to place it in my playing . Sorry but this is not a groove it's just throwing sticks ate the drums.

With certain styles, you want your ghost notes to still come through the music. Play them too quite and they get lost instead of adding texture. Have you checked out Luke's band The Word Alive to get an idea of how it translates live or on a record?
