I always think amongst all the monster log pressers of the world Luke is up there because his technique is absolutely spot on, he uses every part of his body, as opposed to a Irob Biby or Bobby Thompson whom for the most part strict press the log

Failed my strict log today. Could really have been that my head went through too early. Will cue staying back hard next time. Video came at a perfect time.

Unreal breakdown - side note I naturally used to do the foot change from DL phase to lap with my feet going outwards but thought this was wrong so have trained them to stay forward and not move 🤣🤣

Absolutely love the Stoltmen, and you do such a great analysis. How would you fix Luke’s deadlift? How would you train the split jerk for axle?

I’m thinking that I will take the triple extension out of the clean, until I can press a lot more in the log as I feel as it gives me too much power in the clean and a lot of the time throws me off balance.
@MSTSystems

Yeah, technique is all about understanding, e.g if you Understand the outcome you can decide if it suits you or not! There’s no real right or wrong at the end of the day!

Iron biby manages fine as is, looking forward to see what he can do now he’s lost some weight! Should make his clean easier I think he can press whatever he gets to his shoulders to be honest power is insane
@MSTSystems
@MSTSystems 2 жыл бұрын
@@ArmchairCarcass managing just fine and having an expert extract your maximal strength potential are 2 different things. There’s a reason in EVERY high level sport there are coaches & athletes, strongman is small still so a lot of athletes wing it themselves with little understanding of more than the basics! The basics with consistency and intensity can take you 95% of the way but a top level coach can add that cherry on top 🤙
@ArmchairCarcass
@ArmchairCarcass 2 жыл бұрын
@@MSTSystems yeah absolutely, although with biby I think it’s more access to kit to be fair if he was over here a few years ago he would’ve won worlds by now.

Interested in the dip mechanic, I believe I remember you discussing opening the hips at the dip in previous videos to keep the torso upright but here Luke seems to dip fairly straight forward with less hip external rotation? Guess you may say personal preference/biomechanics, but interested to know as I think I may have taken that cue too far and exaggerated the hip rotation too much. Log has been a weakness of mine due to failing to get the dip/extension right on it. I much prefer the strict technique as feels more stable but my pure pressing strength isn't that high and I rely on good technique on axle, dumbell etc. to match others, but Log I have neither.
@MSTSystems
@MSTSystems 2 жыл бұрын
You want to try to get the hip to open as much as possible but the goal is always force, so if you think of it as a blend, I would teach a 50/50 split to the masses on a video and think of this as the base recipe, then you would need to figure out which is better for you, Luke is around a 70/30 split of forward knee travel but if you watch from the side he still remains vertical throughout (that’s the 30% hip part!) hope makes sense
@craiglewis2734
@craiglewis2734 2 жыл бұрын
Cool video, would you say the dip mechanics should be the same if you split the log instead of push press?
@MSTSystems
@MSTSystems 2 жыл бұрын
Hey man yeah exactly the same it’s your transition after extension thst obviously changes but the dip/ force into the log is the same

That 230kg Attempt video is April 2022 I think as the last show before worlds 2020 was Europe strongest man in August/Sept 2020 and worlds was in November , was no Arena shows in 2020 except BSM 2020 in January time. Wouldn't have been October 2021 as he failed the 210kg Log.

On the 230 attempt there IS no mistake dude. It's just too heavy !
@MSTSystems
@MSTSystems 2 жыл бұрын
Well that’s your opinion, mine is that he is strong enough to hit it but on that attempt just slightly missed his extension on the push press drive (which I showed in the video clearly ha) it is hard to execute perfectly under maximal load but it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s to heavy unless you hit everything perfect and still miss it !
