Take a daily vitamin D3 tablet, it really helps to ward off SAD (seasonal affective disorder).

We have had a couple of really nice days, blue sky, hot sun, didn’t last of course. I don’t like the cold dark days either and I’m dreading this winter especially the worries about heating costs.

The gap resolution really depends upon how the doorway is finished. I love the idea of a pull out for ironing board, etc. It would be a good use of space. I'd have a good chat with the building crew and see what ideas they might have.

It's strange how we all have our favourite seasons. I love autumn as I can't stand hot weather. I think it's cosy when it gets dark early. My husband doesn't like the dark evenings. Nothing beats a cold dry day. Xx

Lovely vlog. I'm a November baby so I love Autumn, but clean, crisp days where it's dry and sunny but on the cooler side. I do hate the dark mornings but love the dark evenings. 🍂

I'm with you on Autumn and the closing in of the days at this time of year. Especially when the clocks go back. My nan used to call them those dark, dark days before Christmas. She used to look forward to 21st December and say next month on 21st Jan there will be one hour's more daylight. I'm getting more like her with every year that passes.

I used to live in the state of Vermont with almost six months of winter with darkness and freezing temperatures. I have since retired to Guadalajara Mexico with sunshine and warm temperatures nearly year around. My moods are sooooo much better, and no more "seasonal affective disorder" (emotional reactions to seasonal loss of sunlight). I have a guest house here in Guadalajara and the welcome is always out if you want to escape London's winter dreariness. ☀️🌞😎

Im exactly the same with the seasons as i watch the nights drawing in my mood drops but you have to learn to cope you must be looking forwRd so much to your kitchen being finished as you like cooking so much Brighton looked so nice i lived in whitley bay and loved it so much and it is being developed now as it had dereriated a lot

I'm with you re Autumn, and even more so this year ... feels like we've had 3 days of summer here in Scotland 😢. I love Christmas too, but Spring can't come soon enough 😂. I loved Amy Winehouse too, and thought Back to Black was really good, although it made me sad that we've lost such an icon far too early. Started watching The Perfect Couple, may have to go back to it as I couldn't get into it at all. Emily in Paris is on the list 😊. Just getting over watching Baby Reindeer 😳🤯. great video Luke as always yes when we had our kitchen done we ended up going out more to get away from the dust, i too hate the cold ice and dark nights i normally get sick Brighton is such a lovely place, it looked amazing and the sun was shinning. yesterday was really warm here in Nottinghamshire, and last night we had major Thunderstorms and Lightning at first no rain then it came down in buckets. it is still raining today. I do like the Autumn decor though. all the best to Zara with her training for the Marathon, Looking forward to your reveal with the Kitchen. good idea to having space for the ironing board iron brooms etc. love to you all xxx

Ooh, that little space could be wine storage! I love summer best, but fall to me means hot apple cider and donuts, a fall fire, getting the cozy things out to wear, the beautiful colors............and also a wee bit of dread because I know winter is not far behind, lol. I don't like driving on the icy roads!

I totally agree with you. Our -25 temps are bad enough in winter, but the lack of daylight is actually worse. Why can’t we get rid of Standard time?!

Regarding your skin flare up, my mum went through a period of mass stress at one point and had a similar issue - sebborheic dermatisis. She had it on her scalp, around her eyes and nose. She used the nizoral shampoo specific for sebborheic dermatisis and it sorted it out in no time!

Happy Sunday Luke, Zara and Maggie! Luke I totally get your autumn/winter blues. I'm in Québec so as soon as I see the leaves fall I think snow is on it's way. It gets so dark. My goal this year is to create a very well lit and cozy interior so it doesn't feel so abysmal. Also plan to take advantage of our lovely nearby nature reserve to enjoy the weekends! Brighton looks lovely! You deserve the mugs so no need to apologize☺️ glad you all got out to enjoy the sun. Can't wait for the next kitchen update.

Hi Luke you might benefit from a daylight/ SAD lamp for your winter blues. It’s so common I usually leave off my vitamin D supplement for summer but had to start using it again in July as I could feel my mood dipping.

Hi to you, zara & Maggie loved watching your video. Kitchen's really coming along it's going to look amazing I can't wait to see the finished result. My daughter bought 2 of the IKEA shelves you have and I'm interested to see how yours look as we found hers tilted downwards think because the wood is hollow inside where the bracket poles go in the shelves just didn't sit right. Probably me I'm absolutely rubbish at DIY 😂. Brighton looks so lovely never Been. The gap at the end of your cupboards could be a wine rack 😊

Hi there love your vlogs just wanted to say 100% use that narrow space for things you mentioned Like ironing board etc we did house extension + renovation a few years ago on our 1928 house its very open plan downstairs but the one thing we didn’t plan for was a tall narrow cupboard for those items its so annoying so yes defo put a door on that ..perfect solution. Thanks for all your posts. x

RE: the rash on your hairline--it may very well be an allergic reaction, when we had our previous home remodeled, I discovered I was SEVERELY allergic to the gypsum they use in wallboard (not sure if they use it in the UK) and that it's a very common allergy! We had the dust from it everywhere and I was an itchy mess. Crossbody straps are a blessing to dog moms everywhere, I've had to do the same thing Zara did!

I am so grateful for a person like you on KZbin, Luke. I dislike Autumn/Winter too, they are not my seasons either. I adore the Spring/Summer seasons. I am so fed up of watching people on KZbin obsess over PUMPKINS!!!!!!!! What is the obsession with pumpkins, pumpkin mugs, pumpkin cushions, pumpkin candles, I just don't get the obsession, it's not healthy to be so obsessed. People wanting to be wrapped up and cosy, NO, get out into the warm weather and enjoy light, long days.

Hi Luke if you scrunch some aluminium foil into a ball . Add it to a small pot of water bring to the boil and add 1 tablespoon of bi carb soda . Put your earrings or any other silver jewellery in , all will come out tarnish free and shiny . Then rinse and buff with a soft cloth ! You will be amazed 🤔

@@LukeCatleughI was a jeweller for many years. It sounds odd, but a quick rub with some toothpaste and warm water will do a good job cleaning the tarnish off of sterling silver jewellery.

My daughter is like you hating dark days she found out she suffers with sad and you can get a bright light where you have to sit in front of of it for a while and it lightens your mood .

i also have psoriasis (as did my mother) It always seems to be triggered by extreme stress - and yes its always so much better in the sun than in winter. . Ive been using Daivonex ointment which i think has vit D (also known as Calcipotriol) As long as i am proactive - hit it with the ointment at first sign - it really works. Loving that ring Mr

Those mugs 😮here in Spain were very popular in the 80s in amber, green amd transparente glass...they have mugs,plates,bowls.....they are back again and People looking for them at thrift shops.......

Loving the kitchen Reno , personally I wouldn’t go for the ikea floating shelf’s , go to a reclamation yard there’s plenty in Greenwich / Deptford and get a nice scaffold board and sand it down and wax it will look so much better than those ikea shelf’s , I feel like you’ve spent a lot of money on a lovely kitchen only to cut corners on the accessories .

Even if you could only get the ironing board in that gap, it'd be a right result. YOUR SKIN: now, dont anyone have a go at me p,ease, but have you considered a sunbed? Drs prescribe it for SAD. You'd start with 3mins every other day, then work up to 7, then just go once a week for 7 to 9mins or something. It'd cheer you up in winter, its relaxing, and it would help your skin. I follow a woman called Claudia Glows and she is a massive fan of red light therapy, she's got all kinds of very expensive things to sit in, or to stand against, or to wear, but you could investigate that. I've got a redlight mask from QVC and its very good. People comment on my skin and its very good for rosatia, spots, wrinkles, etc.

That’s a good suggestion…red light therapy is good for skin ..don’t know about the sun bed ,but it can’t hurt to check it out.. Some people probably will have a go because they like to be “ clever “ or appear to be..take no notice. 😊👍
