I think the entire story happens in his head. His exhausted brain is simply playing a trick on him. Maybe there was a snowman there, but the rest was created by his mind. Perhaps, due to writer's block, he was so determined to start writing that his mind crafted a compelling story. By the way, Luke, this is a really great episode! The story has a special atmosphere and leaves plenty of room for imagination. Your explanations and examples are very informative and professional. I can imagine you spent a lot of time preparing such reliable material. I hope I’ll be able to explain things as well in my native language during my volunteer lessons for foreigners. Thank you, and take care!🙏🙂

That was an amazing story! I really enjoyed the video and your teaching. It helped me learn new words and phrasal verbs. Regarding the story, I think the snowman is haunted. A year ago, a couple spent a weekend at that cabin. Their 6-year-old daughter went outside to build a snowman, but tragically, she got lost in the woods and died from the freezing cold. Now, the snowman she built is possessed by her soul. She’s lonely, waiting for someone to play with her. That’s why she throws snowballs at the guy

Another compelling episode from Luke's English Podcast! Thank you so much for all the work you put into these episodes. I can feel your passion all the way over here, on the other side of the screen, in Québec (Canada). As for the snowman… maybe it was built by a kind of wild 'Daniel Boone' who enjoys scaring people. He lives alone in a small shack hidden in the woods. But from time to time, he likes to feel alive by annoying the rich folks who can afford to stay at remote mountain cabin. ;-)

Okay, I fairly feel compelled to let you know that the story itself is worth nothing without your performance. I get everything you say in whatever video of yours. I don't need to listen to RP too much, especially to the well-articulated speech. I got every thing about the story. I didn't remember the meaning of only one word throughout the whole tale which I would be able to guess or google in a matter of seconds. I nearly missed the story, so concise it was, and immediately fell asleep after it. When I woke up, you were somewhere in the middle of explaining things. To everyone's surprise, I got back to the point where I snoozed out to listen to the explanation I had slept through even though I didn't need it. If I were you I would consider this a huge success. I like how descriptive and expository you are in these short story vids and am quite impressed by the number of parallel wordings you are able to suggest for the notions you explain. It's just fun to listen to you explaining things. Sometimes it could be educational, like Dan Brown using ghostwriters for The Da Vinci Code (which explains a lot, lol), sometimes it is something cultural. So it wasn't quite useless for me. The thing is, it would be a challenge for most youtubers to get me involved at all, first and foremost. As for the story itself. Why he, not she? What a biased sexist you are! Let me explain. A female writer goes to a remote cabin for a couple of weeks. Her boyfriend gets bored alone and decides he needs to bring a little romance into their relationship. He hides in the forest and makes a cute snowman, like Phil made an ice angel for Rita in Groundhog Day, to impress his love and suggest a nice little roleplay for them. But she gets frightened and spoils the whole thing leaving the next day. What a pity! So sad! I cried... Btw, to the sexism, I've been always curious why is it a snowMAN? Once in my happier and younger days, my friends and I made a snowperson who was definitely a MAN (with the three carefully cast snow details at the front part of HIM) so that in the morning (it was а New Year's Eve) the mom of one of them, who had been back home after celebrating with her friends, asked us to "dismantle this disgrace" because the neighbors were about to wake up.

Happy New Year Luke! 🎉 As a long-term listener, I wanted to thank you for this episode, I really enjoyed it! It was one of those episodes that felt easier on the ears, so much so that I found myself listening to it multiple times. I’ve noticed something recently that I thought might be worth sharing. Some episodes, like this one, are incredibly engaging, while others I might only listen to once or find a bit harder to get through. When you speak at a natural pace, like in this episode-with pauses, gap fillers, and that conversational tone-it feels more enjoyable and easier to follow. On the other hand, when you read from a PDF or script, it sometimes feels faster and a bit tougher to listen through. Of course, this is just a small point from an old student’s perspective. You know best how to structure your episodes, but I thought I’d share what I’ve noticed as a fan. ❤
@LukesEnglishPodcast27 күн бұрын
Hello! Yes, I am aware of this difference, which is why I try to mix things up a lot. There are advantages to speaking from a script (there's a script for people to check later) and speaking spontaneously (it's probably a bit more engaging and easy to listen to). So, instead of choosing just one method that I always use, I've decided to mix it up and do some spontaneous unscripted episodes, and some which are more carefully planned.
