I was waiting for the right time to release this video and it never came....so here's part one of my full review of the Lume Pad 2! Just keep in mind this video review series was recorded in Nov 2023, so some apps are no longer available (LeiaFlix, LeiaDream) and the camera resolution has been lowered. My review of everything else remains unchanged

You neglected to mention that per your previous video, "They Ruined the Camera" with a software update that spoiled the resolution and depth. Despite extensive discussions by users in the Leia Forum, Leia no longer seems to have any staff participating (Nima gone).

True, I should put some sort of heads up in my pinned comment. This video was filmed back in November last year. There are some outdated things, like no more LieaFlix, Leia Dream and the partially downgraded camera, but I think everything else holds up the same

Love this tablet although the lack of 3D stability sometimes kind of annoys me. The weight is also daunting sometimes when you're trying to take pictures or videos. Looking forward to your eventual review of the Nubia Pad 2 3D

ha thats funny, best review for the device on youtube hand down. I just bought one and yes allround its the best tablet under 500 usd. 2d or 3d. doesnt have the fastest processor but in all areas is great and many tablets have glaring drawbacks or flaws this tablet has none. im getting 33 hours with real racing 3 with brightness at 0 and sound at 20 percent, its bright enoough suprisingly it looks like half brightness even at 0 and sound is crisp. 33 hours like i mean actually 20min per 1 percent, its insane it can do that it would even be insane if a tablet did that with screen off. incredible device. yes the new updates lower picture resolution but they did that for a higher quality picture on average especially low light its called binning. you can adjust everything anyways. incredible review I watched from start to finish and enjoyed every second. exciting times. the question below is should i wait...no is the answer the price is 500 usd and the new tablets will be pushing 1100 so no the slight bump isnt worth it for the average consumer

I have the original Nubia Pad and could not be more happier with it. I was expecting this new one to be a major upgrade but I am not getting that impression. If you were in my posiion would it be worth upgrading. That's if it ever becomes available - ZTE Customer Service cannot give me a date. I bought my current one directly from them.

I’ve seen your positive comments in the past and am always surprised that the small separation between the lenses doesn’t make it a near deal-breaker instead of the top-of-the-line 3D tablet. I’m not well-versed in the area of 3D tablets. Maybe this is common but it’s very surprising.

I take 3D photos with two identical smartphones on one camera plate (2x 64MP). The result is a very high-resolution SBS image that has been precisely calculated by 3D image software. The two smartphones trigger at the same time and there is no time offset and therefore different levels of movement in the image. Is it possible to view these SBS images natively on the Lumepad? It works perfectly on my Quest-3 and also on the 3D projector. I also have a Sony HDR-TD10 that generates 3D MTS files. It will certainly not be possible to play these. Or is it?
@josh_3D
@josh_3D 14 күн бұрын
It should work no problem to view them on the Lume Pad 2. Just open your SBS images in LeiaPlayer and they will display in 3D. Sounds like you have a pretty nice capture method worked out. You can also post to share with other people in 3D on LeiaPix which is fun

@@josh_3D that's right! i have many years of experience with 3D and i'm fascinated by it. 3D has never been dead for me. Unfortunately, the market didn't deliver any good devices because companies like Sony brought extremely bad 3D consumer camcorders onto the market that only caused problems. Even semi-professionals couldn't understand it and you had to use an idiotic workflow in the editing software to get halfway good results. I think you know what I'm talking about. In my opinion, this nonsense was done deliberately to focus on the professional sector. I can only say. ugh Sony! I help in the community as well as in development. For example, for immerGallery - a software company from Germany that offers an excellent solution for viewing immersive content on Meta Quest. I've experimented a lot over the last few years. It started with using half-hearted things like 3DSteroid app on Android smartphone. Then I synchronized two bridge cameras (timecode), but they became too heavy for me to use practically in everyday life. Finally, I mounted two very well synchronized camera smartphones, which can be perfectly adjusted to each other on a plate and thus the stereo width is very easily variable. I would actually have to share that with everyone. It's simple and produces excellent results. It has nothing at all to do with the devices available on the market. Even the new Acer SpatialLabs Eye is put in the shade in terms of resolution and image quality compared to my solution.

I understand this is part one of a multi-episode series, but I’d like to share what I’ve enjoyed and some challenges I’ve faced with the Lume Pad 2 so far. First off, the spatial image and viewing mode on the Lume Pad 2 are incredible, particularly the live-view 3D preview feature. Being able to adjust the depth is a standout capability. The 2D-to-3D AI conversion for non-3D photos is exceptional, although the video 3D conversion still needs some refinement. Flat photos with good lighting and distinct depth levels look especially great when converted to 3D. The converted images are automatically saved in the download folder and appear in the Media tab of the LeiaPlayer app. Additionally, 3D photos taken with the Lume Pad 2’s camera can be further adjusted for focus and depth, which significantly reduces jittery or blurry images. I was pleasantly surprised when I took a photo of a black-and-white print and adjusted the depth and focus-it added dimension to the original landscape photo of mountains and fog. Now, on to the issues I’ve encountered, in no particular order. During or before shooting video with the Lume Pad 2, it’s essential to adjust the focus because, unlike photos, you cannot fine-tune the footage after it’s been recorded. There’s also no privacy tab or folder for sensitive images. All 3D or converted photos are exposed in the Media file, which is the first thing that appears when the LeiaPlayer app is opened. Another downside is that the screen is difficult to view in bright sunlight, and the tablet heats up quickly, causing it to glitch. At a funeral, I wanted to record a horse-drawn carriage procession, but the video quality was poor due to these issues. While photo conversions from 2D to 3D are saved automatically, the same doesn’t apply to video conversions-there’s no option to save them. Storage and file transfer are frustrating as well. You can’t save photos and videos taken with the Lume Pad directly to a microSD card, nor can you easily transfer files between the microSD and the Lume Pad’s internal drive. Since I use a Mac, transferring files between the Lume Pad and Mac is tedious. Swapping the microSD card between devices is a hassle, and if I make changes on the card, I have to redo everything just to restore the images on the Lume Pad. Finally, if you delete a file, photo, or video that hasn’t been copied to the Lume Pad, it’s lost-and you have to repeat the whole process to recover it. I may have missed a few other issues, as there are quite a few problems.

How does this compare to The Looking Glass?
@josh_3D
@josh_3D 9 күн бұрын
@@saintly9388 in terms of the 3D, it is definitely more lifelike 3D image quality, but requires the use of head tracking which can sometimes be unstable. Looking glass looks less real, but is easier and more stress free to view because it requires no head tracking and has no “sweet” spot. As long as you are with a certain viewing range/angle it will always look 3D even as you move, and supports viewing by multiple people at once. The Lume lPad 2 of course functions entirely as a nice android tablet and has very high quality built in cameras
