*Note up top: If you purchase anything with a warranty that is one year and you use a major credit card to do it, usually your credit card will add an EXTRA year on top of that first year warranty. So with that Beam first generation unit you may be able to work some magic just by calling your credit card company about the situation if Xreal or Amazon won’t help with it. Comment follows: I get you. I don’t have ADHD. None of the things you mention bother me. These are not sunglasses though. They are displays which are meant to allow a person to sit in public (like on an airplane) and not have to look like Kylo Ren but with a white face shield and be labelled as just plane weird. Getting down to brass tax…you just don’t like them. Again, I get you. And I appreciate you sharing your perspective, your thoughts. The speakers are terrible. But for that you have to put on a nice set of earbuds. Whatever you do, I recommend that you don’t get the Ultras which I have just ordered. This is an early adopter product period. It isn’t ready for prime time. With that said, these glasses work for my use case…just not for yours. What is mine? Simple. I like to watch video content, often KZbin, and (expensively moving on from the Beam 1 unit that I originally purchased, another negative-EXPENSIVE early adopting thing) with the new Beam Pro I can add a second screen up right to the right of my primary screen, and this one is Chome. In Chrome I am able to launch my law firm’s corporate instance of Outlook or Excel (hit F10 for that beautiful VBA back end and you can be a wizard with automation) or any other Office app vended right from the cloud. Brilliant-I have everything I need right in front of me, plus I can switch them back and forth. Now get ready for this…another reason you won’t want to move forward in this ecosystem. The new Ultra glasses (Xreal has tacitly noted on it’s website and in a comment from a rep at CES) will have a new “companion device” for the Ultra glasses, which will support their new 6 degrees of freedom (DOF). Yet another expense. I had zero problems with my Beam 1. But you have experienced a terrible situation with it-it doesn’t work. Your comments, all of them, are VALID and I agree with ALL of them. My post here is only to say that this line of product is for early adopters, plain and simple. And by jumping into this area, you have taken a chance and become one of us. Good on you for taking a chance and trying them out. By doing so you have supported a fledgling industry that shows promise. It will improve, and the future holds bright promise in this area. Regarding electrochomatic dimming, you really don’t need that feature in regular sunglasses. Am I right? I have heard about “transitions”. I hear that you can have a pair of “readers” which magnify something close up that you are reading. Those glasses can also have different magnification points. I’m interested in this. I use readers because my eyes are getting older (I’m 58). So I like to be able to use my iPad or read a book or a legal binder, journal, court notes, any of it. These exist and without batteries. Xreal provided the chromatic feature to keep the light out as much as you like when watching your content, like glare elimination, and also adding privacy addition…just a thought there but otherwise why not just make the lenses transition with no power needed and call it a day? I wish you well. By the way I love three displays and I haven’t gotten there yet with the glasses. Keep on being a power user. And keep on voicing your opinions. Opinions are what drive progress. Oh and by the way? I want the Tony Stark glasses too. Without cords. And Mr. Fusion from Back to the Future WITH that Delorean! In Newport Beach California on Saturday August 10, I was fortunate enough to be at the America Legion Yacht Club. After leaving, right outside were two Deloreans. Both were immaculate versions of the car from the movie. I sat in one and punched in the exact day, date and year of a special event in my life from back in 2018. What would I change? Nothing at all. :)

I thought i could go on 😂 thanks for the words and insight. Yeah i knew this product would he great for a lot of people even some of my co workers loved it early on. It just didn't fit my use case. Im looking into other products to review to try and find the perfect one for me and people like me. Amazon took care of everything I returned the broken beam and i sent back the glasses too for a partial refund.

I bought the Xreal Air Ultra 2 and waited six months, only to be really disappointed. I tested it with Beam, Mac, Android, and their SDK, but found them to be completely useless. I would advise them to focus on improving their beta applications. The AR glasses seem to be just a micro panel from Sony placed in a frame with speakers, then sold. It feels like a chest business.

I had a bit better experience it sounds like but ultimately i have to agree they felt unfinished. I also was looking for smart sunglasses not just a 500$ screen

I recently got the Air 2 Pros as an upgrade after owning the Air 1's for a couple of years. However, I'm returning them and keeping my Air 1's due to the "blurry edges". Some people don't see them but I do. I loved the new features of the Air 2 Pro's but can't get past the blurry edges, especially for gaming.

I also have the quest 3 and love it too but that's a different use case for me. I like the sunglasses form factor of the Air/Air 2 for media watching/flat gaming.

Thanks for sharing Dylan I want to have a pair of AR glasses that I can watch Video content on while doing other boring tasks like cooking, cleaning etc. Is it possible to have a small video screen in a corner and be able to see the surroundings?
@Technogizguy3 ай бұрын
Yes the glasses have a mode that puts the screen off to the side and the beam device supposedly makes that experience far better
@SinisterSpatula3 ай бұрын
Been looking at XR/VR devices a lot recently, and had been looking at xreal, but the biggest issue I found was that they lied about the virtual screen size, saying "oh yeah you'll get a huge 175 inch display virtually", but have heard that isn't really the case. My use case was for programming and working on my computer, so I ended up going with visor instead, which while more expensive, seems it will be worth it (hopefully). If you can swing that cost, definitely give the visor a look.

Afraid to go anywhere with them because they are so expensive and you're afraid something might happen to them...? Uhhh...if you have a premium phone from Apple, Samsung, etc...those are going to be more expensive than these glasses and I doubt you leave home without your expensive phone. Also, why in the world would you try and use these as standard sunglasses? They have a very specific function and blocking out the sun isn't what they were meant for.
@Technogizguy3 ай бұрын
Right, but my expensive phone is wrapped in a hard plastic and rubber case and usually in my pocket. and I wanted sunglasses so I could take these outside and have smart glasses in the real world. I have my eye on a few competitor products that I think will serve my needs better.

If you were cross shopping these against a projector to your bedroom ceiling for solo (uh oh) viewing, do they work as well? Better, with the built in audio and ability to shuffle to the rest room and keep watching?
@Technogizguy3 ай бұрын
@@Cloxxki yeah these would probably feel pretty competitive to a nice projector. Id suggest using earbuds for a better audio experience and the beam device allows you to tether the image in space so it doesn't follow you. I think for the money these will beat any projector but if your gonna compare these to a 1500$ laser tv projector or something in that realm the glasses will fall short

Great review. I have the air 2 with the beam after a few months' audio stop working had to use them with Bluetooth headphones, for consuming media they are great, as you mention software wise they are really buggy and not worth it, as a company I think competitors like viture, rokid or tcl will deliver more quality than xreal (on both hardware and software)

So u expected ar glasses, but these are vr glasses (vr tech is more matured than ar tech) also xreal are not the best vr glasses the best are viture xr pro glasses Ar glasses still in demo versions and there’s not really a product that is fro people to use today (only for developers) But I have viture ar glasses (xr pro version) and (in my case) are better than most vr headsets and glasses, these glasses fix many of the things u complain in this video
@Technogizguy2 ай бұрын
I have to respectfully disagree, unless you have the lens filter on you can still see the world around you. The xreal glasses add to reality not create it. VR tech is more matured than AR, yes but the xreal glasses are definitely in the ar class, they are ar glasses that have a few vr features. Like the quest 3 is a vr headset with some ar features. I expected a usable face accessory i could add to my arsenal and this just wasn't it. It was a fun product but its just not what im looking for. Im very into biohacking/cyborg stuff and i wear multiple fitness/health trackers i usually have an rfid ring or two on, i want a practical version of Cookie's setup from Neds Declassified if your old enough to get that reference

i’m an Enthusiast that would pay for the non fda approved neuralink right now just to try it. in my review I said flat out that these were a great product they just weren’t what i need them to be because the tech is immature at present moment. an XReal has even commented on this video and I’ve told them that I’m eagerly looking forward to their next products. I am the level of insanity where I know well what I want out of bio hacking/computing devices and this product just isn’t that. plenty of reviews on KZbin tell you all the great things about these products that’s how I found out about them and that’s why I bought them if you want someone to tell you good things go watch one of those other reviews all of my videos come from my perspective because that’s what works for one person may not work for another. hello I even wear RFID rings daily to get in and out of various places for my day job in my personal life. I’m full throttle when it comes to the whole bio hacking scene. my only goal with my content is to entertain educate, and of course push technology to higher limits and standards for even more hope the machine revolution will finally usher in peace among humanity

I am for good reason. They are a great product if you play games or watch a lot of movies and want that experience. Thats not what i wanted out of the product. I wanted more of a HUD where i could put specific data on view or mirror my whole phone but most importantly i wanted to he able to wear them as sunglasses either with the hud or without. The glasses are great my expectations were the problem. I did try to use the glasses for daily use but i found my eyes getting tired from the lenses that show the screens. My ultimate goal was not to hate the product but more to constructive criticism that hopefully xreal will use to implement a better v3 or even one of their competitors may come and do it. Competition is good for the consumer
