I am not technical enough to understand why the 3d fan browser will not even play 2 d from 3dfilmsonline much less 3d. Lumepad 2 has the same issue but Viture’s SpaceWalker nailed it. If you have any pull with 3d fan I would appreciate an explanation and if it will ever will work. Also need to have an app that is geared to the US market if there is enough demand. VUDU 3d movie trailers worked.

I have posted your videos about the unbelievable iPhone screen-protector 3D on several websites and Discord channels, and some people post angry disbelief messages like: "Even if it gives a simulacrum of 3D (like other lenticular displays), that video contains an absolutely staggering amount of extremely obvious BS-especially about increased resolution. And the asking price is hysterical." That is part of a lengthy exchange on a website called "Mixed Reality News" in the comments at the end of a May 24 article entitled "Take a Look at These Beautiful Spatial Photos on Your Meta Quest" (link won't post).

Hey thank you for sharing about the screen protector. I bought the screen protector and tried it thinking it was going to suck. The first video on it was my first impression and I was literally blown away. Couldn’t believe it could hold up against things like the Lume Pad 2. Resolution actually isn’t quite at the same level as the best glasses free 3D mobile devices out there, but it doesn’t fall too short and is unquestionably high for mobile glasses free 3D. With solid chunks of color the “pattern “ of the lenticular barrier shows through, but that is not equivalent to 3D resolution. I started making these videos with the original Lume Pad and have tried to access and review as many as possible since then. After 2.5 years of using these things every day las a normal consumer of the products I have a good sense of what good glasses free 3D should and can be. To me it felt like a miracle that such a good visual experience could be brought to iPhones out of nowhere. Without this product the only way people would ever get glasses free 3D on iPhones is when Apple decides make phones with that kind of display.

So zero BS. I genuinely think it’s amazing and enjoy using it every day. Software and apps are a big issue though, and I’m trying to figure out how to get people and developers to support this quickly so that the product has a chance to succeed and go mainstream and also so that the manufacturer can invest in even better future versions for iPhones and other smartphone brands

@@josh_3D "Software and apps are a big issue though" -> exactly this!!! Owning as well a few of those glasses free 3D devices (Lume Pad 2, Acer SpatialLabs, ProMa King Tablet, and also the iPhone 3D screen "protector") I can tell that many of them have really nice and solid 3D hardware nowadays, at least enough for a relaxed media enjoyment with more or less ghosting. However, the thing is that many have a very limited software ecosystem, and watching your own 3D movies - if you have some - can only be done by using their proprietary player app (to support the lenticular structured layer and head tracking). So questions like changing language tracks, display subtitles, correct image aspect ratio might be one thing. Another thing is even how to access your media files over USB or even over samba network where you might have stored them. And even worse: modern video (mkv) and audio (ac3) formats often are not supported by those proprietary apps, so you end up in re-encoding your stuff first, just to watch it on the specific device. Most of the Chinese solutions come with free access to some grayish online movie streaming services instead (which sometimes are completely non-accessible outside China anyway), and if you want to access your own local files you have to copy them over into the app. 🤷‍♂

I'm not surprised, this is China we're talking about. The government gives incentives for production in certain markets and manufacturers bid on the subsidaries and since there is very little enforement of regulations the manufacturers often cut many corners to negate costs. Sometimes they even intentionally produce cheap fakes of their own products and mix it with their regular product line. SD cards and flash drives are a very well known example of this.

The 2d to 3d conversion right now on the lume pad 2 is very disappointing, especially with KZbin content. It warps and distorts unnaturally and inconsistently: it ends up looking like someone took a video and put it on a flexible projector screen and was messing with the screen a bit behind it with their fingers to create the "depth". I think the AI assumes depth is just a z axis distortion map rather than actually recognizing proper foreground and background separation. It also struggles with interpolation between its 3d perspectives. I think ultimately without a second REAL perspective taken by a real second camera, we won't be able to have a good non distracting 3d experience. So in my book, anything with AI 2d to 3d conversion is just a useless gimmick. It's nit high enough quality to be convincing or useful. (The. Again im a 3d tech snob/enthusiast and i won't go watch a movie in 3d if the 3d wasn't made with real 3d camera rigs: in short i hate the fake stuff because it's not quite there yet). As for videogames: I like using reshader to add the depth in. I played cyberpunk this way and it's awesome. If you already have the depth data of a 3d environment you don't need the fake conversion.

The reason some videos have muted colors is because you filmed them in HDR which doesn't translate properly in different apps. De-selecting HDR will give you proper looking colors across the board. Regardless I wouldn't use Spatial Camera until they fully synchronize both cameras. It's not a huge difference in videos with less movement but even a frame off is just jarring, so until another update I'm sticking with the stock camera app.

HTC evo3D was a very good 3D smartphone I know I still have it and it still works and the 3D screen is still brilliant

The 3D looks odd. E.g. at 3:09. Perhaps the distance of your video camera is not correct, so you get the images for the left and right eye at the same video frame? Can you film and upload this in 3D? I have still an 3D OLED TV with passive polarization filters to view it.

Exactly, I filmed it up close to show this difference intentionally otherwise you can’t even tell it apart from a regular 2D TV when filmed from the correct distance 3.5-4 meters back. Up close you end up getting some overlap of the left and right views. As you suggested I’m going to experiment with capturing it in 3D

@@josh_3D Great! :) Perhaps you have some time to create stereoscopic videos of all 3D devices in action to see the quality of the 3D optics.

$5k for another 3DTV or comfortably wearing 3D glasses that I already own. The choice is obvious.

Great video. I think you covered everything that was missing from before. But I have a question: what is this other channel you keep mentioning with 3D videos and how do I get to it?

Its an experimental channel where I post 3D videos. Many of them are me just practicing editing or testing 3D conversion quality of existing videos. It would be great to have feedback though like on the newest one. No one has commented, and its the first video I've filmed and fully edited in 3D taken on the iPhone 15 Pro. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJmWhqqwotOjgLs

Thank you for another great video! At about time stamp 2:10, and the start of the 2D to 3D conversion, you mention Netflix along with KZbin as sources for conversion. I understand KZbin 2D/3D conversion and enjoy those along with some other sites. But as i understand it, Netflix video have DRM (Digital Rights Management) protection....in the US for sure. So wondering about this....would love to see conversions of videos from subscriber channels like Netflix and Prime, etc. .....on Leia Lume Pad and other newer 3D products like the TV you are describing. Thank You!!

I'm assuming that any signal that can be sent trough an hdmi source can be upscaled to 3D.

It's not passing through another device, so DRM wouldn't even come into play. It can do that to whatever is on screen.
