✅ X-lock system is clever & changing arms is fast
✅ Rear assembly has 5 different plates, rear-cam mount, and tilts!
✅ XT60 on rear assembly frees up battery space
✅ Aluminum DJI O3 bracket is good for cooling and cable management
✅ Front DJI O3 mount allows cam to move forward and backward
✅ Premium materials - carbon, aluminum & molded plastic
⚠️ A little hard to install GoPro mounts
⚠️ I would have liked a more generous hardware kit... pre thread-locked hardware would be nice, m2.5 8mm screws may not be long enough

Just a head's up on the GoPro mounts, you can file the carbon a bit on the bottom if they're too tight. They're specced to slot in without too much force, but sometimes tolerances are a bit challenging, especially on the first run. If you're having issues, get in touch with GetFPV/Lumenier support and they should be able to arrange for a new plate to be sent out with confirmed tolerances. Usually a few passes with a file or sandpaper on the bottom of the plate is enough to get it slot in and out smoothly though. Moving forward this should be a non-issue though.

Tpu gopro mounts will be superior vs hard plastic. Hard plastic is like going back to 2015-2017 , at the same time its a colab with Johnny so i think crashing was never part of the equation 😂
@colibrifpv
@colibrifpv 4 ай бұрын
Those plastic mounts seem super strong once they are installed since they lock onto the carbon plate. The problem with TPU is that the screws holding them to the frame could pull through the relatively soft material. Have you seen the GoPro mount on the Moz7? It's TPU, with a carbon plate holding it onto the frame...
@timothyreyes5392
@timothyreyes5392 4 ай бұрын
@@colibrifpv The CF plate for the Moz7 is to reduce unwanted flex and yes to avoid pulling out due to not having washers installed and over tightening. I use TPU or PCTPE for gopro mounts simply going back to hard plastic or may it be PA12/PA/PC is still not an option in my opinion as it will surely break from any FPV crash.
@timothyreyes5392
@timothyreyes5392 4 ай бұрын
so I still think crashing was never part of the equation considering a high production pilot like johnny, the guys here just swap out the quads for a different one and have the spotters or mechanics? repair what can be repaired. With that said I think modularity is what they went with with this frame design. TPU print will still be more expensive than plastic injected parts so it could be said its cheaper to just replace the gopro mount if you dont crash or hit something that often.
@colibrifpv
@colibrifpv 4 ай бұрын
I used used similar mounts on Diatone frames and I've broken loads of stuff, including arms, a GoPro cage ( I know, I know, should have used a TPU case) but never the plastic mount on the frame. If you know what you're doing with a 3d printer than you can probably print up a mount that is more durable than the included one. You have to admit that the rear mount is cool though, right?

@@colibrifpv I print and print my own most of the time I love having color options as well! hahaha but yes absolutely no complaint about the rear mount. For sure Naked gopro at the front and rear. The design speaks high budget skill, hardware and crew hehehe. I just built this frame. Mixed feelings. Frame feels and looks premium. But having to file down the frame to get the GoPro mounts in was a faff. Had a problem with one of the screws locking in the XT60, had to order some more. And the screws are not long enough to mount the O3 unit. Unless I’ve messed up, but I can’t see that there are any other screws of this dimension 🤷🏻‍♂️ Not as straight forward as it could’ve been.

Thanks for your feedback, sorry you had problems getting this frame together. re: GoPro mount, it was pain to get it in the first time, but after that it goes in and out easily. Be careful not to tighten that screw down too far, the mount will crack... re: XT60 screws, yeah I had a problem also, mine were not long enough. Problem is they are M2.5, which is not a standard size. re: O3 screws, really? That surprises me, mine fit okay. You are right that about the QA issues, especially at this price point. Very nice frame, badass! But i have few cons that i don't like it in my opinion... 1) the price, man that's too much, $110 and it just too much to me. 2) the back of frame, where the DJI 03 antenna is sitting back with that piece of carbon fiber, that got my azz cringe 😬, cuz it does look like it will break so easily on hard-on crash, or like a branch hit the back and it will be bye bye DJI 03 antenna and it could ruin the 03 system. 3) the color of bronze does not look good. I prefer it to be like any bright color so that way we can see it more pop out with black carbon fiber instead of both bronze and black carbon fiber are both dark/dark. 4) i prefer TPU to cover up these ends of arms and motors, cuz nowadays motors are getting expensive. 5) the soft feet, oh boy that's so old, but understandable to save money but since it's $110.00 frame, they should provide more better high ends for feet, cuz the tpu to cover the end of arms and motors, PLUS it acts like feet too so don't need these soft feet on this frame. It's just my few cons that i don't like on this frame, this frame should be about $75, in my opinion so therefore it's not for me at all. But great video as always, thanks for share this video... This frame cringe my azz, cuz of the back of frame 😬 🤣🤣🤣

@QuadMcFlyFlies 4 ай бұрын
The price actually isn't that bad when you look at what comes with the frame. You don't need any 3D prints, most folks spend $20+ on prints for antenna and camera mounts that don't come with many frames. It also comes with all the additional accessories and mounting, XT60 connectors, wires, etc. Plus the custom machined aluminum is not inexpensive to have made. The epoxy coat on the carbon also adds to the manufacturing costs. It's definitely a premium frame though, but when you consider frames were going for $100+ 10 years ago, the price is actually not bad. The frames we were buying for $100 back in 2016 would be $130 today with inflation, so $110 at release is not too bad in my opinion. I'm glad prices have dropped, and the Bardwell edition is available for those that want a more standard frame, but to get these kind of features it unfortunately costs more to produce. Also we've been testing the frame for 6 months plus now and have yet to damage anything on the back end. It's actually super durable, and the rubber grommet actually helps prevent damage to the antenna compared to other stiffer mount methods. It's actually saved my antenna more than once. I agree with you on the foam feet though, I throw them in a box and don't use them. Fortunately there are plenty of aftermarket options if you want to add your own arm protectors. Brain3D will have ones for this frame shortly. Of course you're free to not like the frame, personal preference and all, but we did put a ton of thought and testing into it, and it's being offered at the best price possible for what was put into it. Either way, happy flying with whatever you put in the air!

You've got some good points here, but just to clarify, I did have the thicker rear plate installed for this video, which is intended for a rear GoPro mount. There are other more streamlined plates included. If you use zip tie on your antennas it's pretty secure, and even if you were to break something in a crash it would just be the antenna (cheap replacement) not the O3 system, which is super well protected. I do like to use foamy feet on ultralights bc I like to get the longest flight times possible, but if you are free-styling or flying aggressively, you could print up some TPU arm guards. You have to admit that the back end of the frame looks pretty amazing though, right? Did you notice that moving the XT60 off the main plate frees up more battery space?
@indroneswetrust1

@@colibrifpv yes I do like that idea of tilt on the back of drone and it moves xt60 and GPS module and 03 arena freely, I love that one, and yes I do freestyle and I do sometime aggressively freestyle, that's why I was talking about TPU mounts on end of arms and protect the motors and it acts like feet as well, like it's for 3 in 1, if you know what I mean? Yeah and I used to do 3PV, the rear GOPRO mount for 3FPV. But I can see that stick that holds the GOPRO mount will break very easily on my aggressively freestyle flights. So I don't fly with 3PV anymore to save me more weight and fly longer cuz I'm flying with 03 system for 4k/60fps. I'm all about aggressively freestyle, fly longer, save weights, durability, and some of speed... Gotta have the need for speeds, heh! 😁🤣🤙🏼 By the way, are you saying that in case iffff I break the 03 antenna and it is completed off from 03 system, and it will not ruined??? Are you saying that it will be fine after I install new 03 antenna??? Can't be, cuz just like analog system, I used to fly on analog system so long ago and I have ruined many analog VTXs, cuz of antenna is completed chopped, off from VTXs while it's still plugged in the battery. Yes, there are props in view in the O3 footage but you hardly notice it, at least with the "wide" 4k60 + Gyroflow, which is my normal workflow. You could probably avoid props in view by filming linear, but I think you lose gyro data that way... If you want best image possible, use a GoPro, if you want good, usbale images, just use the O3 DVR and don't worry about it, like I said you hardly notice it. I will have the full review up shortly with lots of samples...

I like diy fpv, I'm working on a project myself. However, I feel like the sport all together is getting patented, branded, hyped and upsold for prices that aren't realistic. Makes it hard to get into and get started.

Hey, thanks for watching and leaving your feedback! Well, just like any sport there is high-end, specialized gear that provides a level of quality that some people will need and appreciate, and some won't. If you want a cheaper option, go with a Source One... it's flexible, durable, customizable, and cheap. If you want or need one of the best frames on the market, loaded with premium materials and innovations, consider this one 👍 😁

You can always 3D print the chassis that you want for around $15 as well

@@colibrifpv You kind of repeated my point right back to me but I understand, kind of like EV's. Sure, they are great for the environment, if you believe that, but there aren't any in what would be considered a "normal price range". An odd comparison I know however, I want to start with something built with quality but can't. On the other side of that coin there is the prospect of cheaper products, lacking in the quality of experience, but still usable. No one wants to go cheap in regard to quality. I believe it would sour the whole sport for someone just starting out.

@@bubbabirner6152 A minor redesign but yes, at that point you are looking at a few calculations, motor thrust, strength of the print, taking into consideration material and since we are referring to this from the point of affordability, most wouldn't consider a 3D printer. Transmitters are another large part of the expense, and deciding on one when you are in for lack of a better term, beginner mode, could be difficult.

Yeah I hear you, I had the same problem and they suggested using some fine sandpaper on the plate to widen it out ever so slightly... once you get it in the first time it is much easier after that...

You have a point, and I can see how TPU feet would be worth printing up because they do add some extra durability. I've noticed a lot of frames out right now come with parts like plastic motor wire guards, side-plates, TPU air unit mounts etc. that can add weight without being necessary.
