Love your videos. They are the best instructional tools available anywhere for Luminar. And your masterclass takes it to a whole other level! One thing I have wondered about is whether there is any advantage to converting to black and white vs reducing color saturation to -100?
@CleverPhotographer
@CleverPhotographer Жыл бұрын
Thank you, Don. Generally the main difference is the possibility of adjusting the Luminance and Saturation for the individual colors with the sliders in the B&W tool. You will not be able to do this with the saturation down to -100. However for a basic edit it would do the trick.

Thank you! I have a question . After doing the adjustments in the b&w . How can I return the color with all the adjusments I did apply?

Hello, and thank you for your comment. I hope I understand right that you would like to keep the dodge and burn effect while removing the B&W tool (effect) from the image. This is very simple. After you finish the editing, navigate to the Edits section of your toolbar (top right - next to the Tools section). Click on that, and in the list of the edits, find the B&W tool. Open the tool, and on the top-right corner of the tool click on the arrow icon (Reset tool). Once you do that, the icon will turn into a little bin (icon). Once you click on that, you will remove the B&W tool from the edit, while the rest of the adjustments stay the same.

Thank you for your helpful video! I would like to use Luminar Neo regularly. Unfortunately, the function to create metadata (EXIF, IPTC, ...) and save them in my photos is missing. Will an update of Luminar Neo bring this feature, what do you think? Which app do you use to store metadata in your photos?

Hello Frank, thank you for your message. While we hope to see this feature in the future, I am unsure if it is currently in development. As for my professional projects, I rely on a combination of Lightroom, Photoshop, and Luminar NEO.

Thanks for another helpful tutorial. Sadly it seems the NEO v1.0.7 on Windows 10 presently doesn't support 'Masking' feature for the 'Develop' tool ??
@CleverPhotographer
@CleverPhotographer 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Peter, thank you for your lovely comment. That's very strange to hear that there isn't a masking feature in Develop tool. I have checked this morning (On Windows machine - Windows 10), and I have the same masking tab as on the Mac with the Develop tool. I am using the same version as you - 1.0.7. Do we talk about the same tool!? Let me know if I can help 👍

@@CleverPhotographer Thanks for your prompt reply. I've checked & discovered that it is ONLY the 'first use' of the Develop tool which has no masking tab. Subsequent applications of the tool DO have the masking tab. I am greatly relieved & feel very foolish.

BTW I specially like your suggestion of applying the B&W tool which enables a focus on the tones to help visualise areas which could benefit from Dodge/Burn without the distraction of the colours.

I like to use leukemia to make selections of both light and dark areas. Then I can use those selections to either do my d&b, or color grading.

Hi Mark, using Luminosity for D&B is a great technique, sadly Luminar NEO doesn't have this possibility, yet. Hopefully soon... but thank you for your tip.
