I'm sorry I have to disagree with your statement that it is not a pro camera. I'm a pro photographer and as a pro, you should be able to get results from any camera in your possession at the time. I use the G100 to shoot pro pics especially taking street photography plus I get excellent results photographing Scottish landscapes which I mount onto canvas and sell to the general public. The biggest gain I get is weight carrying a DSLR camera bag with a couple of bodies plus various lenses up a Scottish mountain is a severe chore. With the G100, not a problem plus it does run the same system as the G9

For this pro photographers a pro câmera is something that makes taking photos more difficult lol câmeras have to be big and heavy for these pseudo pro photographers

@@filipelollita806 facts. Most youtubers aren't even professional photographers. Just salesmen for brands. There is not a single camera that's made in this day and age that isn't capable of producing professional quality in stills and video.

I actually bought this camera out of a gut feeling and I got the olympus 45mm f1.8 and it has been amazing. It exceeded all my expectations and it a great step forward from a smartphone. The olympus lens combination is killer.

I just got my new-to-me G100. All the reviews complain about the crop on the camera's 4k video. While the 4k video may be a problem for vloggers, it could be a boon for others. I tested the G100 4k video with high stabilization shooting at 140mm on my 14-140mm lens. Jpg from the video showed the 140mm having a field of view at 547mm! So instead of 2x crop of m43, the G100 with 4k video on high stabilization had a crop of 3.91x. This could be a real benefit for nature photographers and videographers! Nicely presented video!!!

literally most displays dont even playback in 4k. 1080p is more than enough.

This is a good point. I shoot with a G95 which also shoots 4k with a 1.25x crop and around 1.4x with e-stab. I don't vlog and so for me, someone whose main use of 4k video is nature and wildlife, it's a bit like having a built-in teleconverter (that you can't remove 😂). Yes, you do lose some of the sensor area compared to full width (so you're shooting with something more like a 1" sensor area on the G95), and I do wish there were an option to shoot full sensor width 4k for short clips... that would be nice for some interior travel clips. Of course you can always shoot those in 1080p which is quite good on these cameras. But if you're not a vlogger shooting in 4k, the video crop might be less of a deal killer than many make it out to be, particularly if most of your video is in decent light. And we can often ask ourselves how much 4k is truly needed. Sometimes shooting 1080p60 is preferable because you've got an easy option for slow mo, you can capture a lot more footage given your storage space and battery, editing is faster and easier, and most videos will be watched on phones in 1080p anyway 😂. Additionally, I've mixed 4k and 1080p video together in videos and, depending on how you view them, it can often be quite difficult to tell which is which. Sometimes good enough is truly good enough. And sometimes what people think they need is not truly a "must have" but rather a "nice to have." Being flexible with "must haves" vs "nice to haves" can open some interesting options that you end up just as happy (or happier with) in the end.

I'm honestly more interested in the camera as a photo/travel camera than for vlogging. the only thing missing for me is ibis. there's so many good selling points though: evf, articulating screen, pop up flash, interchangeable lenses, AND it's affordable!

Dimension wise (except for the top EVF of course) this camera looks to me as the long awaited successor to the GM5. And a perfect successor. For travels I would rather favor a stabilized camera because I don't want to get back home and have too many blurry shots. I will use it as an everyday camera like my GM5. Perfect for that.

Unless you're specifically a travel vlogger, might as well get the GX9 for the same price but with IBIS. I really hope this isn't the last compact camera that Panasonic make, would be a very sour note to go out on.
@mmartel
@mmartel Жыл бұрын
Maybe. The EVF on the GX9 is... well... it's not good. The best one can say is "it has an EVF and you can use it." Compared to the very good EVF on the G100. You do get IBIS which is nice if you shoot unstabilized lenses at slower shutter speeds - but not everyone does this - or if you use unstabilized lenses for video. The GX9 also has a tilt LCD for people who prefer that vs the articulating panel on the G100. You also get less crop 4k (1.1x vs 1.25x) if that's important - and it might not be. You also have another 100g of weight and an extra control dial with the GX9. Sadly, that rear control dial, useful as it is, can be failure prone and there are numerous reports of problems with this dial assembly for the GX9 as well as other models that use the same dial (GX85, GX7, GM5, etc.). Finally, GX100 has a built-in flash but its max sync speed is only 1/50s 😮👎 (only has electronic-first shutter vs full mechanical on GX9) vs 1/160s on GX9 and the GX9 built in flash can be pulled back with your finger and bounced off the ceiling for indirect light which is truly awesome 👍.
@MrJed_s
@MrJed_s Жыл бұрын
@@mmartel great points/comparison! Completely agree about the EVF and the G100 being lighter is quite a boon for me personally. Currently using a GX880 which is lighter/smaller still and has a screen that I prefer over either (and its single dial is faulty too!)
@mmartel
@mmartel Жыл бұрын
@@MrJed_s I definitely appreciate the conundrum camera makers have to deal with when it comes to designing small cameras. Nobody wants the same thing! You've got those who prefer a GX880-style screen, those who prefer a GX9-style screen, those who prefer a G100-style screen. Some who care about a big nice EVF like on the G100, some who don't use the EVF at all except when the sunlight prevents them from seeing their screen so they want the smallest usable EVF possible to keep the camera small, and some who say don't bother with an EVF since they use the screen only. You've got those who say IBIS is critical and won't buy a camera without. You have others who say it doesn't matter that much and if it helps keep the camera small and light, get rid of it. You have some who say they need unlimited no-crop 4k30p (which would drive up cost and weight to handle the extra processing and heat), some who say they need unlimited 4k but don't mind a crop if it keeps the cost and weight down, some who say they want no-crop 4k30p and will accept a short record limit in exchange for keeping the cost and weight down. Which tradeoffs do you choose? As a camera maker, you'd love to bring every combination of camera you simply can't do it and still run a profitable business.

Vi overvejer virkelig DJI Osmo Pocket, fordi det er meget nemmere og mere diskret end et stort kamera. Vi laver lige nu videoer (der kommer op i 2021) med et Nikon D7500 - og det er så beværligt :-D

It's a cool camera I won't buy it for to record limit wish you cud record unlimited.and the stabilization is not that great the focus either in my opinion look example you have the old nx500 that takes amazing photos and video quality specially with some lens amazing shoots and stabilization.maybe if there's a way to FIGUER out how to get unlimited recording then this camera be much better.i have no clue why they keep making cameras with that 30 min record limit and some with 4k 10 to 20 min to record .that's so lame lol.oh well
