Hey moin, HLG is for a very different reason. You can make wonderful Rec2020 HDR Videos with HLG. The Rec709 Color Space is a downgrade from HLG. But HLG can be Rec709.

I watched your tutorial on how to set up 10 bit 422 on GH5 but camera is telling me that Photo Style menu is not available when I'm using that video quality. Any ideas?

I've never used Adobe Premier Pro, I use DaVinci Resolve. However I notice that both apps are very similar and I was able to follow your Tutorial and easily replicate your grading steps. I think that with your knowledge of Adobe, you could have DaVinci Resolve nailed in an afternoon. Seriously, no joke. You used Adjustment Layers in the Time Line. The only difference is that Resolve does not show those adjustment layers on the Time Line. There are enough things cluttering up the Time Line as it is. Resolve just call's your Adjustment Layers a different name and has them pictorially represented as little square boxes. You give those little boxes a name and do your grade, just like your Adjustment Layer. The boxes flow into each other. So for your Tutorial, you would have two little boxes and give them the same names. One would have your Leeming LUT and the other little box would have your chosen secondary LUT. The little boxes are just called "Nodes" and they are shown away from the Time Line. And that's it. Both apps have the same tools for correcting the footage, they are just graphically presented in different ways. Rather than Adobe's sliders, Resolve has little wheels to spin. Same outcome. The killer feature for DaVinci Resolve though is a bigger colour space. You can either use the Leeming LUT for excellent results, or use the massive Resolve Colour space which eliminates the need for a Utility LUT like the Leeming LUT. You still get to use what ever secondary LUT you wish with the same benefits. Both apps work and I was able to follow your Tutorial and grasp your concepts. Resolve is not scary, its just more powerful when colour grading. And even better, no monthly subscription to Adobe, or anybody. You either use the free version or buy the licence which gets each and every update for ever.

i've been wanting to try resolve for exactly those reasons. i just having pulled the trigger yet on it. maybe this summer i'll just download the free version and try it out before i get busy in the fall again 🤷♂️

@@CalebHoover You won't regret using Resolve and you may never need to buy the Studio version either. The free version is very good with only a few features kept for the paid version. However the Noise Reduction is well worth every single penny of the Studio version.

I dont get why you would use rec709 and all it's limitations and not rec2020/BT2100 ? Wouldnt it be 'downgraded' to SDR (6 stops of dr) and also lose all the WCG.....Also, try Grass Valley EDIUS for editing and color grading ...brilliant software and no monthly subs
