Lumix S5MarkII - Is it worth it???

Not saying the EF lenses work as well as L mount lenses, but the Kai W, and PhotoJoseph videos show they work way better than I thought they would. Very impressive.

Yes this is the golden nugget for EF lens owners. If the video CAF performance on adapted lenses is solid then I reckon it makes this and presumably future PDAF LUMIX cameras a legitimate option for EF mount lens owners looking to move to full frame mirrorless.

Happy New Year, Magnus. The S5 II's IBIS is very impressive. AF is pretty good other than in low light / high ISO, but so is Canon to a degree. I wouldn't leave Canon for Lumix for the same reasons you wouldn't; plus I'm more photocentric and the S5 II lacks in too many important photo areas. But it's definitely a contender for new users looking for a system.

@@bongpeninoy6313 for me, (1) Megapixel count is fine for video and OK for most photos. But my R5 has 45 MP, great for detailed landscapes. (2) FPS combined with rolling shutter. 30 FPS electronic shutter is great, but the rolling shutter makes it unusable for bird photography. It's worse than the R5 and R6. Which leaves only 7 FPS at most when shooting mechanical with continuous AF. Way too slow compared to the 12-15 FPS mechanical speed, with tracking AF, of the Canons, Sonys, and Nikons in that price range or even lower. (3) AF is simply not up to par with Sony, Canon, or even Nikon. Those makes can recognize animal eyes, vehicles, and more, depending on the model. With Sony and Canon, the camera will track a subject's head or body when the head turns away, then snap back to the eyes when they're visible again, without needing a different focus mode to do so. And Canon's eye AF works all over the frame, not just the center.

From demos ive seen of the S5ii, the EF glass actually performs just as well as native glass. It's a surprise, but a pleasant one.

The IBIS is insanely good for a ‘real’ camera. Not action cam level but, for practical purposes, good enough.
