Queen Novo's Pearl of Transformation contains the essence of the Wise Alicorn of Water (likely her mother/ancestor, with their couple being a griffon). The "First Queen" of the Crystal Empire transfered her essence of Elemental Air into the Crystal Heart (this is how it can control winds, keeping snow clouds away). -> The energies of 3 alicorns (plus whatever Rainbow Magic Starlight stole from the Chest while "researching" timetravel at the cutiemap) was enough to reawaken it. The Earth Ponies are the only equine race that still has "shards" of the Primordial Stone living inside of them (this is how they can digest rocks, like dragons). The lack of a way to properly channel that magic [until G5], prevented any of them to ascend into alicornhood.

Okay so a few things I would like to say: 1. I am so happy to see Celestia and Luna again. They look so cute as fillies. 2. I think the reason Opaline didn’t strike sooner is because she needed more time to become more powerful. And I have no doubt that Opaline took out Celestia and Luna during the time she separated the pony tribes. As soon as Twilight learned of her existence she decided to make the unity crystals and took away Opaline’s power. 2000+ years later she adopts Misty and raised her to become her henchpony. But that’s just my opinion. What about you?

@@KTWhatsup To be fair, Opaline is kinda treated as a joke even now. It’s not hard to imagine she’s been defeated and confined to her lair before, perhaps many times. The one thing she really has going for her is persistence, she’s bound and determined to prove she’s the best (however dubious that claim may be) and/or become the best at any cost. The fact that Celestia and Luna never mentioned her could be interpreted as evidence of how little they took her seriously. She wasn’t worth worrying about at the time.

I actually like that G5 recognized the Journal of the Two Sisters instead of disproving it like G4 did. I have no idea why Opaline calls herself a fire alicorn, though; I thought it was just her special talent (like how Twilight's was magic). But it makes sense to me that she decided to take over Equestria after Twilight ascended the throne. She was too afraid of Celestia and Luna, but when a young and inexperienced ruler took charge, she siezed her chance.

Opaline is a "Chromatic Alicorn" (red & black); with a bond to the Elemental Plane of Fire & one of the negative energy planes (likely the Shadowfell). Chromatic Dragons in D&D are naturally Chaotic Evil. -> Celestia & Luna are "golden" [ Metallic Alicorns ], literally "Celestials" [Type] of a natural Legal Good alligment (with potential for a "Fallen" versions of themselves being Legal Evil).

I don’t think G4 actually disproved the Journal. The Journal did mention what would be later known as Skyros, and was located in what would later become Canterlot. With those facts, Celestia’s comment of Flurry being the first Alicorn born IN Equestria would still be factually correct, as Skyros was never part of Equestria.

i see where yall are coming from, like that does make sense, but i _am_ confused about the actual founding of equestria now tho. i guess it was pretty watered down in the show since they just had like 20 minutes of runtime, but i would have thought celestia and luna - or yknow, the entire alicorn civilization - would have been at least partially referenced? that just makes me feel like something in g4 unintentionally broke canon (tho i will preface this next part by mentioning that i first got the journal of the two sisters in elementary school, i think i was in fifth or sixth grade? and i havent actually touched it in the almost 10 years since then lol so if it does clear any of this up ive long since forgotten) you could argue that the alicorns had been gone for ages, but then why would celestia and luna stay behind? because in one of the later seasons (idr if it was 8 or 9) when they're putting on the play with celestia, it explicitly mentions that she began to raise the sun because the UNICORNS - and starswirl was mentioned by name - were not strong enough to do it on their own. celestia _literally played herself_ so if anything about the play was wrong, she probably would have mentioned something, but she was completely fine with everything it almost feels like the cartoon is just in a different canon than the books, but that still doesn't work out because the journal serves as a plot point in the cartoon more than once so idk man lol (and that isn't even counting the g4 IDW comics, nobody has any clue what's going on over there lmao)

So let me get this straight. A unicorn can become an Alicorn with what I guess are 6-7 years, and become equal to her mentor within a pony lifetime ( all the mane 6 are alive in the finale), but an alicorn can't master basic spells till 1,000 years later. She must be connected to the dragons otherwise their flame wouldn't be compatible.

Opaline probably simply never left Skyros until Twilight was in charge of Equestria. We have no idea what exactly happened to Skyros, so anything goes there really. Maybe Opaline took it over and brought about its downfall, or maybe she just never felt like leaving Skyros until someone told her that now somepony other than Luna and Celestia were in charge of Equestria, so Opaline must have seen it as her chance to strike.

I think I can make it fit in the beginning of G4 “long ago, in the magical land of Equestria, there was a civilization of Alicorns, called Skyros. Our dear Royal Alicorn sisters grew up here, among other Alicorns. Among those Alicorns was Opaline, a alicorn of fire. She was among the least popular of the Alicorns and not even celestia and Luna wanted to play with her as a filly. One day Opaline swore revenge and even swore to separate the sisters themselves. She used a power dark spell, and with it . She created a dark force that inhabits the hearts of jealous ponies. (Hint hint wink wink) she sent this force to watch over our favorite princess sisters which then caused about the time of nightmare moon.

I personally would consider Celestia and Luna elemental unicorns as well. I’ve always thought of it this way: the seasons of summer and winter are largely based on where moon and the sun are at different times of the year. During the summer the sun is the nearest to the planet and it gets hotter and the days are longer whereas the moon is farther away. Celestia controls the sun and has sun based abilities. The sun is associated with heat, light and fire. Whereas with the moon, that’s closest to the planet in the winter time when the sun is further away. The moon it’s self has a strong connection to water which makes snow and ice. Thus meaning that Luna has a watery connection as well. In addition to that, when the moon is out of balance with the earth, floods happen thanks to there being a strain on the moon’s gravitational link to the earth and as for the sun, global warming would increase dramatically. So, yeah it would make sense that Celestia and Luna would have elemental powers as well. And you could make the argument that their relationship as sisters reflects that. When they are close the earth, the moon and the sun are in harmony whereas when they are fighting there is tension.

I have a theory (I don’t know how many contradictions there are in the show, but I tried): A: Celestia and Luna weren’t born Alicorns, as Flurry Heart was the first, so I’m assuming their parents aren’t Alicorns either. I’m also assuming Opaline is Celestia and Luna’s sibling, as that would fit into the “golden children” thing Opaline says. From what I remember, Celestia had the special talent to raise the sun, which usually took a bunch of highly trained scholars to do. Assuming this was when she was a filly, it would make sense for her to have gained her cutie mark and ascended into Alicorn-hood at that time. Luna probably did the same, but with the moon. It’s also possible that this happened during sunset or sunrise, where both the sun and moon were in the sky, so Celestia and Luna got their cutie marks and became Alicorns simuntanulsly. Assuming Opaline is younger than Luna, she would have felt left out, and therefore trained, and managed to find out she could control fire, and got her own cutie mark and became an Alicorn. Of course, fire wasn’t as cool as raising the sun or moon, and she was pushed out. I’m guessing being an Alicorn wasn’t as important back then, as no one really knew what it meant. I’m guessing Opaline left to further study fire magic, and become a true “fire alicorn”. Then, Discord happened, and Celestia and Luna beat him. They then (I think) became rulers of Equestria, and stayed that way for a long time. Opaline probably found out, and was deeply angered. It’s possible she tried to show them up sometime after they were crowned Princesses, but Celestia and Luna were stronger. Opaline then left again, probably to become even better, simular to Sunset Shimmer. Moving on, I can guess Opaline was eventually erased from history, simular to Nightmare Moon was reduced to an old ponies tale. So, after Twilight became the new ruler of Equestria, Opaline was deeply angered again. After all, her older sisters just crowned a random pony as Princess. So, she wanted that position for herself. After all, she was an Alicorn who could control fire, and represented strength. What was more powerful than that? So, she formulated a plan, and attacked Twilight sometime after her coronation. She lost, but swore she’d be back. Then, she found out about what Cozy Glow, Tirek and Chrysalis did to prevent Equestria from helping Twilight - they divided it. Opaline knew that she was better - she was an Alicorn after all - and thought about the other races. She thought they weren’t as important, only Unicorns possessing true power. She divided Equestria, making others fight. Making others think they were better. And in the chaos, Opaline was ready to take down Twilight and claim her rightful spot as not just Princess, but Queen of Equestria. Of course, this brought about the Windigos, and Twilight didn’t know what to do. So, she took all the magic in Equestria and placed it in three crystals - the Unity Crystals. These crystals would keep magic stable in Equestria, but only if ponies worked together. The Windigos’ magic was also locked away in the crystals, meaning the only consequence to fighting would be the loss of magic. Twilight also managed to lock Opaline’s magic inside the crystals. Twilight then banished Opaline, who then went to the place they’ve been hiding all these years. Twilight also put a bubble on Equestria, keeping Opaline out. She then placed a charm on the crystals, which made it so that whoever united all three Pony kinds would be granted Opaline’s Alicorn magic. Life went on as normal, until one Pegasus hurt an Earth Pony. The old rifts started again, and all three Pony kinds thought it best to leave each other. They separated, and formed their own civilizations. Then we get to the present! It probably has some holes in it, but I dragged lore from all over the place (including the comics). But I think it’s somewhat plausible. Or, possible? I don’t know the right word 😂.

This is _canonical_ information, too. This just shows how much of a failure Opaline was as both an alicorn and 'princess' if she didn't managed any accomplishments to her own name in the space or at the very least two of Equestria's ages, at least 1500 years(I pulling the number out of my plot here) and never rose up to the occasion when things were at their worst between ponies, to the point she didn't even manage to be in a anal of history of Equestria. For the place she apparently was raised with other alicorns, I would guess it's where Starswirl raised his students or where alicorns were created, I am a fan of that theory. At the very least this episode drop really helped to establish who she is and how much of a threat she poses on her own which is a lot but can't manage a cocky bake sale. It's a little disappointing that she isn't apparently Twilight's foal as it made an interesting dichotomy between between her and Sunny, with inheriting power and status to earning it, but I can live with it, I wonder if Cosmo will be mentioned in this series maybe, doubt it but still. This was an over all much better entry to G5 and made up for a lot of the previous issues there were with the first haft of the series, like more interesting and defined background characters that enrich the world of G5 along with adding in the zaniness and silliness of stories, it easily made up for a lot of the slightly more noticeable weird animation issues.

remember: the reason to why nothing makes sense is because the creators of G5 stated at the very start that it wasnt meant to have any connections nor ties to G4 aside from the mythical fantasy stories of the mane 6. The fandom was (rightfully) unhappy by that statement, so the creators and story directors changed their minds and decided to include more of G4 into G5 throwing off all sorts of lore. also a little side note, hate seeing princess celestia as a rainbow haired child instead of a pink haired child.

The more they add to the g4 lore the more the narative falls apart. It's a retcon, plain and simple. Originally Luna and Celestia were shocked that a Flurry Heart was born an Alicorn despite an alicorn foaling her. We were meant to assume that they sought to save their land from Discord and gained Alicornhood to defeat him with 6 MacGuffins that have been forgotten. Now they just come from a land of Alicorns and were total jerks about it. Thanks G5.

The land of the Alicorns were referenced in the book. In the early parts of the G4 there was a different Alicorn in the Hearts and Hooves day book, I don’t think she is Cadance, that caused issues after neglecting their duties due to a love potion. And there are other countries outside Equestria when referencing foreign dignitaries along with an alicorn in the Daring Do, Stanger than Fanfiction, episode. It doesn’t sound impossible for more to exist. If we ask where she had been, maybe it had something to do with the mysterious unicorn that discord referenced. We don’t know if she is Opaline hiding her wings or someone else. Another theory she was sealed along ago because what she did in Skyros? Can’t explain why she is still around though since Alicorns are long living but not immoral or it could only apply to made alicorns? But the question leaves where are Celestia and Luna?

Man. I think filly Celestia and Luna do look good in G5. I did watch all 6 episodes and the special of chapter 4 and I think the special is good. And the 6th episode is great especially it finally showed Sunny Starscout facing off against Queen Opaline! And the end of episode 6 showed Queen Opaline using another way to face off against the mane 5. I think chapter 4 of make your mark is good. But I am kind of disappointed that it did not have a episode about what happened to Twilight Sparkle.

I just like to think of G4 and G5 as diffrent AUs. G5 has a version of G4 that is slightly diffrent the the G4 we all know. that way it can make sense. there could of always been tons of alicorns in their own land in G5's AU.

perhaps opaline DID try to enact some sort of plan to get rid of celestia and luna when they were younger; maybe she tried to murder them or something? so, seeing opaline as a threat to both themselves and the rest of pony society, celestia and luna sealed opaline away similarly to how celestia sealed luna in the moon for a thousand years, like maybe a giant crystal. although, since these types of spells typically last a maximum of a thousand years (ie. luna and discord), that means that the princesses and probably twilight too had to battle her on occasion before sealing her off again, since i don't see them as the type of ponies to kill villains off. i think the worst punishment they gave a villain was when they sent cozy glow to literal pony hell, and even then it wasn't a permanent arrangement lmao (i think, my mlp knowledge is pretty rusty since i havent watched the show in a while). then after all the magic got taken away, there was no pony to keep opaline sealed anymore, hence why she was able to reemerge and enact her big plan to take over equestria. that's the best i can come up with lol

The real question I’m also wondering is how did Tirek know about Princess Cadence? The Alicorn Royal Sisters banished him to Tartarus and almost a 1000 years later, he escaped while Cerberus left his post in Season 2: Episode 20: "It’s About Time" and whose glowing eyes were shown at the end of Season 4: Episode 3: Castle Mane-ia (no that wasn’t The Pony Of Shadows, that was Tirek being foreshadowed so deal with it). But now that I think about it, maybe he did find the time to gather information about Princess Celestia's adopted niece and her ascension into alicornhood but what I don’t get is how did he not know about Princess Celestia’s faithful student and her ascension into alicornhood before he noticed that stain glass window in Season 4: Episode 26: Twilight's Kingdom: Part 2. I have an idea, there has always been an alicorn race and other ponies can become one, when the sister where young a mass band on alicorns went out among the ponies and other creatures so most of them hide in dangerous places that most beings wouldn’t dare to go near but the sister stayed as they controlled the sun and moon the other creatures saw no use for the other alicorns that controlled over things like fire the sister said they’ll find away for every creature to except them again but as the sister learnt some ponies can become alicorns they thought it would be to risky to let the existence of original alicorns to be known, also explains why the sister where surprised about the birth of flurry cause they never seen an alicorn be born from a non true alicorn, when twilight become head she was told about the alicorns from the sister and twilight went with the sisters all around equestria to find the OG alicorns only to learn that their basically magic their selfs and twilight realised that if these beings where shown to every creature mass panic would brake out as these alicorns can control anything so twilight banished them again explaining that the sister will take them someone where far away so they can live how they meant to be living as powerful ponies who are one with everything, the sisters found an excluded place where the alicorns built their village but some of them where angered as the sister had promised they’d be allowed to go back to equestria but was banished even worse then before they’re village wasn’t even apart of equestria they had to restart everything their culture had been suffocate for thousands of years just to have a non true alicorn tell them to relocate far away as their power would be too much, the history they did have was gone, twilight didn’t mean for it to happen like that she had thought they’d be happy having their own band new land they can create anything they want but twilight failed to see that the every ground she lives on was created by the OG alicorns, Opaline was the first pony to stand up and say hey look this isn’t right you can’t do this to us and from the help of the others they went to take all of the magic to prove that they where needed and to make a stance to get back their lands twilight saw this a threat talked to the sister in private, the sisters helped twilight make the crystal by putting all of their magic in it along with all of equestrians magic but not just that but also all of the alicorns magic too in a last ditch effort to stop the alicorns, it worked but at a coast all ponies thought it was each others fault as they didn’t know other alicorns existed so separated for good taking a part of the crystals, the sisters and twilight being drained had to hide away until magic came back to equestria, when it came back Opaline saw her chance to take revenge on the ponies who ruined all of alicorns lives, also the reason why the magic is so strong is because the other alicorns powers have also been awaken causing the world to be flooded with the powers of alicorns. Long story short twilight tried to make a comfy place for the alicorns but erasing their entire history and they weren’t ok with it

Okok, I just came up with a story!!! What if Skyros, is a different dimension, separate from Equestria, and there are only alicorns. Opaline was so jealous of the sisters, that she literally managed to throw them away and erase their memories! They ended up in Equestria, Luna and Celestia were still very young, and they didn't know where they are, or where they're coming from, they only had eachother. Soon, they meet civilization! They see ponies, and the ponies are amazed to see alicorns. There were alicorns in Equestria before, but they were very rare, and they didn't talk about their land, so not much is known about them, and there's a lot of myths and legends. The sisters, having no idea how strong and skilled they are, try to get used to this new life and to find their place and figure out how they could help. After a while, they hear about somepony called, Star Swirl The Bearded, who sees their potential and takes them under his wing, teaching them his knowledge and unleashing their true potential. Here is where they learn about alicorns, or rather, about what ponies *think* alicorns are. There's only one book about alicorns, and not much is in there, but that book mentions a few instances of regular ponies being turned into alicorns after doing great deeds. So, based on those instances, it was believed that alicorns were all just regular ponies once who became alicorns afterwards, and this is what the sister believe for the rest of their lives. After that they do some stuff and become princesses. Meanwhile, nobody in Skyros knew where the sisters were, so Opaline steps in, becomes the best alicorn there, everyone loves her, until, the truth is found! Now everyone hates her, she tries to reach the sisters, and take them down cause she is angry. She can't create another portal, cause it's very hard to do so, but she only manages to see a glimpse of the sisters, and it seems like they have fun and doing great, and they are even Queens now! Ofc Opaline gets even angrier, so she keeps trying to reopen the portal. After many years, she finally manages to, BUT the sisters were long gone, nowhere to be found, and now she finds this Twilight Sparkle, as the new ruler? And she's even angrier cause she can't be angry at the sisters anymore, and she redirects her anger at Twilight. She's also weakened by the portal now. Ok, this is longer than I expected, I might do a YT vid with this. Hope it makes sense, I haven't watched chapter 4 yet so idk if I'm missing anything

So she waited until a new, naive pony took over and saw her chance. And when she attacked, she finally took out Celestia and Luna, forcing twilight to make the crystals as a last ditch effort to save her subjects

Technically this isn’t g4 lore being added in since the only link it has to g4 is Celestia and Luna. I’m not keeping up with the series outside of your videos but this sounds completely wedged into the lore like a puzzle piece that doesn’t belong. From what I understood of Celestia and Luna was that they were not alicorns from birth, out of everything this doesn’t seem to line up to me and is a bit frustrating to think that our beloved powerful heroes such as Twilight, Celestia and Luna aren’t special anymore. What happened to “no pony has been born an alicorn”. They aren’t adding g4’s lore to g5 they are changing the lore, that isn’t exactly what the community had in mind when hoping for g4 lore to be included

The real question is are they born a alicorn after all opoline said about the other elements alicorn but are they born an alicorn also I wonder why inthe two sister journal it showed everything that happened in the past but today it maid me more confused if there are other element alicorn why didn't they rule equestria in the first place? Also why didn't they showed up in the g4?

In the G4 lore Celestia and Luna weren't born as alicorns so that means that got there powers very early on.

I was wondering that are the alicorns still alive? They could easy open the door now for Twilights return. Opaline was probably sent to the future and she popped out Twilight's era than sent forward again just an idea.

Twilight had to sacrifice herself in order to keep Opaline at bay, most likely. She probably isn't DEAD but she's definitely not around in 'Equestria' in G5's continuity, although she could be somewhere else!

Alicorns live longer than normal ponies, by the fact that the fire alicorn(opal idk what) was around celestai and luna age means that she is much older than twilight, and if she is still alive then twilight, Candace, Candace Daughter(especially her) should be still alive And maybe Celestia and luna

Does anyone know why Opaline doesn't look like how Celestia and Luna did as Alicorns with their flowing manes? I'm not caught up on the lore. Also would have loved if she looked a little more similar to Celestia with how tall she was considering how old Opaline is.

I think Alicorns were like a product. If they had potential they could learn magic by Star Swirl The Bearded and become something in their lives. But I guess Opaline (including many others) weren’t ment for greatness or something.

Is she supposed to represent the unity of ponies? Like the fire heart spell from Hearth's warming eve. It matches the color plus it fits the timeframe of her being around Celestia & Luna's age range. With her twisted nature ( Discord or result of being spread thin across species) being the reason Twilight felt the need for the crystal.

opaline thought that she would be the next in line due to her being the same age of celestia and luna but when twilight became the ruler she became enraged and took her revenge
