I don't think this is as complicated as the tale sounds. "A long time ago there was a magical bat named Dawn." - Elder Flower literally says the bat was named Dawn, openly implying that Luster Dawn did, at some point, become an alicorn for unknown reasons. "She was surrounded by other bats like her." - I don't think Skyros is involved in this story at all. Being 'surrounded' by other alicorns could very easily be a gathering of Dawn, Twilight, the Sisters, Cadence and Flurry Heart, be it for a family/successor meeting, royal celebration or another occasion. "But one of the bats refused to get along with the others." - This is Opaline, I think that one's pretty well spelled out. "This bat wanted to fly around and eat all the fruit for herself." - Ditto. "So Dawn spoke to a spider who wove a beautiful web to keep the mean greedy bat away." - I think this is likely Twilight and her Invisibubble spell covering Equestria to keep Opaline away, which was alluded to at a few points. "In the end, Dawn was able to protect their nest." - A little odd mentioning a nest at this point, but that might be either their home or another point at this being a family matter. Not much of substance otherwise. "Yet the greedy bat continues to this day to try to break the web." - Again, Opaline trying to break through Twilight's Invisibubble. "Which is why some bats eat fruit and some bats eat insects." - Obviously a curveball line meant as a joke, but it could be a metaphor for gaining magic naturally - the fruit - and taking magic from others - the insects. That makes Opaline the insect-eater in this scenario.

@@jcalhorrorstuff or he replicated them or found where he brought them from plus besides the colors being the same and the shape similar, they don't look very much like DJs glasses. i mean when DJ wears them in g4 you can't see his eyes the lenses are a dark purple almost black not even close to the g5 glasses and they look like they curve around his face (though that might be because the people making g5 did not do much if any research.) plus, either way it's dark and it's not at all a Stretch to think that it's something discord would do especially after losing all his friends. and it doesn't make sense for elder flower to say that she was a filly when she went to the city but also probably over 30 years before that was even built be at the wedding and throw out her back which is not something that a young pony would do and not even physically possible without a time travel spell and the only one ever seen was gone i suppose maybe destroyed at the end of season 5 in g4 (don't say i am lying because i just watched that episode and then the chrisaling of course) feels like season five lasted a long time i am trying to watch the whole series been like half a year and i just got to season 6. 😅

YES! THANK YOU! When she described the wedding I was like "Wait is she talking about the changelings at the royal wedding??" We might not be as far in the future as I thought if somepony is still alive from back then. Maybe like 5 generations at most? I don't know a unicorn's lifespan compared to earth and pegasi. I do know in FIM we saw more elderly pegasi and earth than we did unicorn implying they live longer But she also said Moondancer is her great great great great Aunt so there's no way she was born at the time of the wedding. So maybe she heard of it through generations?

I am 99.99% sure Celestia does not have the ability to turn others into Alicorns. Twilight did it to herself with the help of her friends. My evidence for this theory is two parts: 1) Candance was a surprise Alicorn that was outside of Celestia's observation and acended after casting a powerful love spell to undo a witch pony's hate spell as a Pegasus foal. The magic done in the act was so powerful that it got Celestia's attention of this orphan pegasus, turned Alicorn, and brought her back to Canterlot to raise. 2) The wording of the spell Twilight cast, "From one to another, another to one. A mark of one's destiny singled out alone, fulfilled." This is Star Swirl's glitched spell that mixed up the cutie marks of her friends. It's wording suggests that it moves the ""Marks of destiny" around in order to single out those under the effect of the spell and make them feel alone. "From all of us together, together we're friends. With the marks of our destinies made one, there is magic without end!" This is Twilight's revision. This suggests that those under the effect of the spell are concenting to a magical bond, their destines brought together into one for magic not to end. Twilight, being the representation of magic, was "The one" in the spell, and since her friends all had attributes of the 3 main species of ponies and Twi intertwined their fates with her own, she gained the attributes of all her friends. Both mentally and physically. Thus acending her to Alicorn level. Anyways, that's just a theory... A PONY THEROY.

A PONY THEORY! Haha yes! That's a really interesting theory! Anyways, I assume that the whole "Creating a new type of magic" thing plays into becoming an Alicorn in Equestria, too somehow. I don't think that Celestia turns ponies into alicorns, but when they somehow do what they need to do to become an Alicorn they get transported to the special dimension that Celestia can also access, which is where that pony gets turned into an alicorn. I believe that this plays into how Sunny is not 100% an Alicorn. Because she didn't exactly do what she needed to do to become a full alicorn. She gained Unicorn and Pegasus magic, even Alicorn magic, but she did not become a physical Alicorn. My theory was that she didn't create a new type of magic, and what she did was based upon the work that Twilight already did. Again, this is just an incomplete theory... A PONY INCOMPLETE THEORY

I do not recall Elder saying she had visited zephyr height before. And, even twi as a ruler, would be wise to have a sussesor (luster dawn) just in case something happens. What if the "Twilight's Shield" didn't just prevented Opaline to enter Equestria, but all of the other species as well (including other Alicorns). The reason why Sparky was found in Maretime bay is because he Technically wasn't a dragon, but an egg, and the Breezies were already inside the bubble when it was created.

I know everyone dislikes Flurry heart but what about her? At the end of g4 she has a stain glass window in canterlot castle. No one has ever said what she did to get her that stained glass window. My own theory is that Opaline is the Greedy Bat, then Dawn the bat has to be an alicorn as well. Dawn is similar to Dusk, and Dusk is a synonym of Twilight. I think the other bat is Twilight Sparkle, but I think the spider is Zecora. The spider has to be a different species from the bat, and Twilight has had 3 main magical mentors. Celestia (ruled out cause alicorn), Starswirl (magical and knows protective magic), and Zecora (knows magic and how to get out of tricky situations). Of all of these, I think Zecora is most likely for spider because a zebra is a different species of pony from alicorn and unicorn, she helped Twilight with Starlight's and Twixie's shenanigans and she had spiders in her hair during the nightmare night episodes.

Hmm, I personally think the allegory of the spider web may be more of a reference to tartarus rather than a defensive spell cast over equestria. Especially if the magic had begun to fade after the separation of tribes. This loss of magic could affect the effectiveness of said spell. It may be a possibility that Opaline was sent somewhere far away, trapped, (or maybe even possibly reverted from an alicorn back to a unicorn as a consequence of something). I think this would give her a motive to initiate the separation of tribes, possibly to distract the alicorns in charge so she could aquire or gain back her power somehow. Just a little mind nugget :b

Theory about the crystals: What if they were made to stop Opaline and not the other pony races from fighting? Alicorns, like you said, is the combination of all 3. So having crystals made, to remove and separate the 3 types, would weaken Opaline enough to let the ponies to escape her. We know she is a fire Alicorn so she may have started using dragon magic since it isn't connected to the ponies. Meaning the crystals wouldn't effect that magic the same if she got enough. But everyone was already aware of her. So maybe only old dragons were weak enough for Opaline to take magic from. I assume that because a pony with very weakened magic shouldn't be able to beat a strong and healthy dragon. [If there are any issues with this idea; I'm sorry. I mostly watch this channel for lore about the show and I just thought of it now. I haven't watched much of the actual gen. 5. Sorry if was already explained lol]

Maybe it’s just because I love the whimsicalness of Celestia and Luna being the last of the true alicorns, but also bc I just like to think Opaline’s stories are purely there to make the other believe her more, she isn’t actually as ancient as she claims and didn’t personally have beef w the sisters, but her saying she did and putting herself into this position of power would make her more believable to an impressionable young pony (also because I think the concept of there just being an alicorn civilization somewhere so bizzare, my 10yo self would be fucking fuming if she found out about this)

When you think about it, New Generation isn't as long as we think after FiM. In the episode "Father of the Bridlewood", Elderflower says "My great, great, great , great Auntie Moondancer"; that's 4 generations, + 1 for basically an Aunite/Niece age gap, then assuming Elderflower is like a Grandmother age to the Mane 6, add another 2 generations. So that would give us about 7 generations after FiM is set, and assuming pony generations work like humans do (1 generation is 25 - 30 years), at the most, New Generation would be set at about 210 years after FiM. Here I'm thinking they're making it out to be like a thousand ahah. Hope my weird explanation makes sense xD

about the whole wedding bit, i don't think it's Candace and Shining's wedding. in that episode we saw that the changelings were defeated and thrown out of canterlot because of the blast from Cadence and Shining, so there shouldn't be any changelings there, let alone A LOT of them changing like she said I think, Elder Flower's family might have become friends with a changeling and got invited to a changeling wedding or her family have become friends with a lot of changelings so at the wedding she could see a lot of ponies changing there I think it's possible since ponies and chagelings were at good terms back then, but then again idk if it's also possible since by that time the ponie tribes might have already started to separate and if that happens, all the other creatures should have left as well, but who knows! maybe there was still time before the separation for a wedding to happen where they could invite cross-species! (well at least this version makes way more sense than elder flower being in Candece and Shining's wedding) (also if some things are misspelled or my grammar isn't correct, I'm sorry english wasn't my first language)

In the episode sweet and smoky….it was proven that lava hatches the eggs and without dragon fire or lava the eggs would eventually freeze up. And not make it. Opaline as a villain is frustrating. So many missed opportunities with her. When I saw that she found a way back in, I was really hoping for something that would show just how powerful she claims to be, but nothing. I guess they need to drag it out. The writers for G5 aren’t very creative. They see this as just a job, and don’t really care about it as a show, like the G4 staff did.

Idk much about G5 lore but when I think magic bubbles I think the crystal empire, so what if the spider is shining armor or cadence given how those are practically their signature spells. . (Although flurry heart would better fit the bill given how she’s a different type of Alicorn then the others thus the spider analogy, so I think it might be Luster Dawn as the good bat & flurry heart as the spider.)

I like your Cadance/Shining Armor/Flurry idea, but Make Your Mark refers to the bubble as “Twilight’s” multiple times. It would make more sense being Cadance/Flurry simply because Crystal Empire force field thing, but unfortunately I don’t think the writers of G5 thought about that. :/

okay i don't know if i beleive this BUT maybe the spider could be shining armor? especially going with dawn = twilight, assuming he was still alive, of course she'd go to her brother, shining's talent seems to be making magical shields, so much so that he was singledhoofedly tasked with protecting canterlot from the changeling attack. With the other mentions of him (the wedding with the shape shifting ponies and the picture Alphabittle has) it makes me feel like there might be a thematic connection to him or cadence or flurry heart this could also connect with the wings idea, twilight and opaline as bats having wings and shining armor as a spider having none

I think the Changeling invasion mention is VERY INTENTIONAL to establish a timeline ...she was still alive back then making this newer generation WAY CLOSER in time to G4 than anybody thinks... I think it's bad and I hate it and I don't think it makes ANY SENSE.... but that's what I think their intention was there's also the theory that the Spider is Discord ... also I hate how everybody calls the other species not being here a pothole...technically it isn't a plothole, they are just not relevant TO the plot right now! I will agree with everybody that the world building in this show is VERY BAD and static, I mean the fact that we got more world building and lore in this one part than the previous 4 parts together is proof of that! But if you look at this show on its own and ignore G4 for a second , the fact that we haven't heard about other tribes or species isn't a plothole. YES the writers REALLY want you to connect this with G4 but they have done such a HORRIBLE Job of connecting the 2 series THEMSELVES that I basically consider this a different universe now that has nothing to do with G4 where just a few of the same events happened and some of the same characters exist...

Um… did anyone notice that Opaline’s mane and tail is similar to Cozy Glows? And that pony would have beef with the alicorns, Luna, Celestia, Cadence and Twilight Sparkle for stopping Cozy Glow, Crysalis, and Tyrec. So… let’s say that Cozy Glow got out of being a statue, or got reformed,then maybe went back to her old ways and got busted again. If Opalecence is a decendant of Cozy Glow… she might have beef too. Why did I think you were going to suggest that Luster Dawn not only turned into an alicorn, but ended up going Nightmare Moon and turning into Opaline? Although, it's also very possible that Opaline is another Alicorn that Celestia couldn't put in Tartarus before Luna turned. It would explain how Celestia already knew how to put Luna in the moon. Perhaps Opaline came back during Twilight's reign. Twilight(spider) was informed by Luster(dawn) that Opaline(greedy) was wrecking havoc and Twilight put up the bubble after fighting her. But the bubble could only be constantly sustained by the crystal heart which was easy to steal, so she split it into three pieces and split the ponies, thinking that that was the safest option. Unfortunately, after the guardians hid the artifacts, they were killed by assassins sent by Opaline. They then spread discord between the races for Opaline while trying to find the artifacts.

The biggest problem with all this speculation is the assumption that Skyros exists within the franchise. I'm inclined to think that Opaline created the fiction of Skyros to justify how she could be an alicorn. We know she stole magic, and she probably stole those wings.

I think there's one flaw to this theory: you're assuming the spider is another pony. If the Dawn Bat is a Pony and the Greedy Bat is Opaline, why is it they're asking a spider and not another bat? Since a Bat and a Spider are two different species, maybe the Spider in this story is a different species outside of Pony. Could be a Zebra or Discord or maybe even the dragons themselves.

I have an theory! Luster Dawn become an alicorn and seeing Opaline in unicorn form at that time causing many hazards and fights between unicorn's, pegasus and pony's. She going to tell Twilight to informed a unicorn causing this and alarm her. In that moment Twilight and her friends create the Unity Crystals for restore peace and hamony and she caged Opaline in prison for her crimes. Time passing and Opaline making a plan for wining Luster and Twilight trust because she needed to become again an Alicorn. That plan worked and Opaline become alicorn again but she's powerless in that time and nothing happend. But in time Opaline restored her powers from dragons and she start fights between species. And finally in one day she takes revenge on Celestia and Luna for her pain and she and wants to take over Equestria for her desires. But Luster, Twilight, her friends and Starlight fights against Opaline in Equestrian War for restore peace and harmony. In time only Twilight remain in that battle which caused many damages in Canterlort and of course Equestria but Twilight with her last powers she caged Opaline in her castle in that invisible bubble become powerless and separate the Unity Crystal for greather good. That theory based on combination of comics, series and a little imagination from mine. Ps: In one comic Opaline stay besides Twilight before the battle. This is in case someone doubts my theory. To be simple. Opaline plan was to rule. But equestria in its state was too "stable" to her to tackle alone. So first she started to divinde the tribes as a start. Ofc she needed to take care of the other alicorns and the tree of harmony itself. But her plans got interrupted either by dawn or twi. I refuse to belive she was once that powerful to alone destabilise and disharmonize all of equestria. She may had outside help. But twi got all the harmony magic and created the unity cristal to safeguard harmony. This act made a huge impact obviously to eq i think twi also used either her or some power to hide equestria not just from opaline but from everyone else too. Thats why no other race yet here. They didnt know yet eq is back on the map. They probably detected the magic return but it may take a while until like the first griffon explolers arrive. Or yaks. Or anyone else. Opaline got most of her strengt stripped away as magic got locked up. So she try to recover and continue to try conquer equestria. Or at least what left from it.

I wonder if there could be another option. Hear me on this, could Opaline be Luster Dawn? It could be the reason why or how Opaline could have known a lot about things. Why Twilight used most of her magic to banish Opaline as well the crystals were form in hopes that one day that the sides would get along and restore its magic. So, hear me out. Now with Luster Dawn it is shown that she knows of the tribes as well she was learning how to make friends. Maybe one of them betrayed her trust from there she went from Luster to Opaline. Just like Luna went to Nightmare Moon and started to terrorize the ponies. So here Luster could have gained enough power to become an alicorn and started to tear each tribe apart showing how ponies can't be trusted then set her sights onto the ponies themselves. Twilight tries to fight back and try to reason with her only for her to banish but the damage has already been done as now she needed to make a promise to the ponies as the stones were formed that one day the magic will return once the three learn how to be friends again. So, I don't think Twilight means to punish the ponies just don't know how to fix or heal the damage that Opaline had caused. Also noticed how Opaline seem to know more about Twilight and how to use friendship on Misty? She knew what to say to have her trust and say that friends aren't worth it in a nutshell.

I think the other races having gone extinct is a likely outcome. Look at the ponies. Not very many left. Unicorns in Bridalwood are what maybe a couple dozen? There are only three pony societies left. Pegasi have the lion's share and Earth Ponies are slightly more numerous than Unicorns. FoE was not this grim. 🤔

I’m under the impression that Dawn the bat is a reference to a pony we all know. I have this feeling that it may not a an alicorn at all but a unicorn named Starlight Glimmer. Hear me out. If you see the name of the final chapter that Netflix will have it says “The Secrets of Starlight”. Take into account the name “Starlight”. Who do we know has Starlight in their name? Starlight Glimmer of course! My theory is that Starlight may have found out about Opaline and told Twilight. After telling Twilight she then created the shield to keep Opaline confined to an area, adding on to Twilight being the spider. Another thing is that spiders have many legs and alicorns share the many abilities of each pony kind. Perhaps this spider is a reference to an alicorn using their abilities to create the shield. This however is just my theory. My theory: Dawn the Bat = Starlight Glimmer Greedy Bat = Opaline Spider = Twilight Sparkle
