@@MattTOB618 ik it can be seen many ways but I always see this as Luna s# herself because she doesn't forgive herself for "allowing herself" to be turned into nightmare moon 🌙 and for sure a lot of her self hate might come from her trying to kill her sister. Of course she was possessed by a dark magic (like sunset and sci twi) but she needed to forgive herself and set herself free from nightmare moon

I love how everyone was on Rarity's side in "Canterlot Boutique", it's one of my favourite Rarity episodes, not only does it demonstrate that she earned her success and is a capable desinger but it showed her overcoming a sad reality of just about any industry pretty well imo. I agree, the Princess Dress isn't all that, so props to whoever designed it for making a dress we'd easily get sick of. I was so happy and proud for her when she opened up that boutique in Canterlot, one of my favourite aspects of the show is that many of the characters don't accomplish their long term goals during finales or special episodes, they have reasonable progress and milestones to get there.

I know it was just a dream Luna had, but I fully believe if she turned into NiM again, that's _exactly_ how the ponies would "save" her. Blast her and then surround her in a group hug to remind her she is loved. The fact she wakes up and says it can't end like that speaks more volume than just her not forgiving herself. It says she doesn't believe she deserves to be loved. This may be a kid-friendly show, but I love the way it can address heavy issues in a safe way that even they can understand. I'm still around today because this show saved my life.

That Rarity ep is so underrated! And so is the song. Love the way all of the words roll off each other in such a satisfying way. "the rules of rarity guarantee quality" banger. I also love the visuals during the song when she looks like she's working in an assembly line, and the dressing room curtain is coming down around each customer like a factory machine. IT'S SO GOOD.

1. "Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep" is considered to be one of the worst season 5 episodes, I mean I personally enjoy it but I can remember a lot of people in the fandom disliking the episode for a number of reasons. Especially due to the fact that even though everypony had forgiven Luna for everything she had done as Nightmare, Luna still couldn't forgive herself. And in case anyone says anything, The reason I said that "Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep is considered to be one of the worst episodes of season 5" is because from what I remember in the past just as it got a lot of positive reviews the episode also sadly received it's share of negative reviews and I just thought it should be pointed out. But I found everything that happened in the dream realm to be badass, Seeing all of the Mane 6's dreams as Luna chased the Tantabus all over the place. And I especially loved the parts where the citizens of Ponyville come together to prevent the Tantabus from entering the real world. 2. "Canterlot Boutique" became yet another one of my favorite season 5 episodes! It was very interesting to see that Rarity was starting her own fashion empire, In fact "The Rules of Rarity" instantly became another fan favorite song but a lot of people in the fandom understandably hated Sassy Saddles for her actions in this episode. But at least Rarity set her straight and Sassy learned her lesson in the end. But anyway this is just the beginning of the fashion empire storyline of Rarity's character arc!

I’ve always loved this Luna episode. I find it personally to be relatable to how things like PTSD affect real people and it’s a family friendly way to approach topics involving trauma. Kind of hate how anytime a cartoon does a well rounded showcase of what trauma responses can look like the majority of people hate it (usually those who don’t deal with stuff like this in their irl)

I'm so happy that people are finally warming up to Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep. I feel that so much of the hate for this episode comes from a lack of understanding of Luna's character as well as mental health issues as a whole. People were so quick to label her as an "overdramatic angsty teen" without trying to understand the big picture, something that unfortunately happens a lot to people in real life as well. Those types of reactions also seem to be very common anytime cartoons in general try to tackle such a topic in a non-romanticized way, almost like people are afraid of discussing it or seeing the dark side of it. I also disagree with the sentiment of this episode being "too dark for kids" or whatever. Mental health issues can happen at any age, so I'd say it is absolutely imperative that kids understand these things and understand that its ok to not be ok. I think this episode is able to tackle this well without being graphic or showing any physical harm to Luna.

Season 5 episode 14 is one of my favorite Rarity episodes. It show female empowerment that you will learn how to start a business and that no one can't tell you how to run it. It Also show how to not wear the same dress just because it is the most popular outfit and that everybody has their own style.

Ah Do Princess Dream of Magic Sheep.... yeah this one was divisive, with the group that had the most issue with it seeming to be the ones that spent the most time analyzing things, and who really seemed to have more of an issue of trying to cast this as a specific allegory and taking it to task for not being a good allegory of whatever they thought it was saying, over just accepting the story as itself. I loved this ep and had no probelms getting why Luna was doing this and how it ended. Plus the shear creativity of those dream sequences! I love it. Then we have one of the best "Rarity is a stand in for artists everywhere" episode and exploring the difficult choice between artistic integrity, and mass marketing appeal. Is it better to be successful, or happy? I do also love the in the end, Sassy wasn't malicious, wasn't trying to play Rarity or to scam her or anything, she really was doing what she thought was the right thing, it's just her idea of 'success' and Rarity's were at odds.

This character was brought in as a representation of self-love, which is why her cutiemark shows herself. Going backwards for this episode but I LOVE ep 14. It perfectly shows as a creator, how soul sucking it can feel to follow the algorithm, rather than what you love. She had the success that she wanted, but had to sacrifice the style and vision that she had. Sassy isn't a bad character, but the big lesson is that Sassy should have TALKED with her before hand about these plans, and go to a middle ground. She knew how to make Rarity thrive, but if its not in the way Rarity wanted, thats her right. A manager MANAGES, not controls. As stated, she sacrificed the rest of the collection because she knew that the "Princess Dress" would do the best. But once you step back, and stop caring about being at the top, you can enjoy it a lot more. I know a lot of MLP fans who also create LOVE this episode because its so heavily relatable. I'm gonna end this with for ep 13, I have a love hate relationship with it. I don't know if anyone's mentioned this, but MLP COMIC SPOILERS AHEAD ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I've always headcannoned, because this episode kind of took the place of a story within the comics about Luna forgiving herself, that the final form of Tantabus is Nightmare Rarity. They never really go into it in the show, but in the comics its brought up that Luna wasn't turned into Nightmare Moon solely on her own power, she was manipulated into it, and the same happens to Rarity where she becomes a villain. (this also is extra depressing if the story still tracks, because shes guilty for something that wasn't fully her fault.) That's also where she regains her...constant flowing mane? Idk what its called. In the comics, she looked more like herself in ep2 up until that point. The pony version of Tan. could be just because of the belief that Luna and Celestia were Unicorns before turning into Alicorns (mirroring her before returning), but listen, I want this tiny win. I'm so upset that Nightmare Rarity wasn't added to the actual show because it would have been SOOOO COOL. Theres actually a lot of content from the comics that just...was so much better story wise. EDIT: I also wanna add, now going back to reread the comic, that the premise starts the same way. They're all having nightmares and don't know why-but their nightmares in the comics are MUCH more relatable than what we see in this episode. Twilight is kicked out from being Celestia's student, Applejack's farm fails, animals are afraid of Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash straight up can't fly anymore, Pinkie Pie can't make anyone laugh, and Rarity keeps trying to reach out to her friends with gifts but is constantly turned down with disgust. They end up replacing her with a Pony called Maybelle, based off Gravity Falls (the female twin) and tell her that they don't ever need her, because her contribution is replaceable. I really really REALLY wish they stuck with these harder hitting fears, but understand since its a kids show, they were afraid to. Maybe if shows like Bluey came out earlier, and gave studios more of a backbone to be more daring with their stories, we'd have it.

RD's nightmare being actual nightmare fuel. lol As someone that experiences very odd dreams, some may class as nightmares because of how unsettling they are, if I have anything even with a sliver of similarity to RD's I'm gonna remember and feel weirded out. The actual nightmares that play on my legitimate worries are so common that they no longer bother me..... uncomfy when they feel real but then something always tips me off and I'm like 'oh wait I'm dreaming. Ah shit, here we go again. Lets see what we cook up this time'

Rarity just made a common mistake. She saw a resume and thought "Oh, this one managed five other shops in seven years, she must do something right" Unfortunately she never considered that it could also mean that Sassy did something wrong. I saw that at least five times in the last 20 years. Sometimes the new manager was hired after me and was fired LONG before i had to go (i´m a temp, so i can only work for 18 months in a company).

If you think about it the Luna episode doesn’t make much sense at all. Yeah she was Nightmare Moon but what did she really do? Okay she refused to lower the moon once and then turned to Nightmare Moon out of jealousy of her sister getting attention and ponies sleeping through her night. Was banished for 1k years, came back and tried to make the night forever again but was defeated quickly.

Well she destroyed the home her and her sister lived in then she tried to kill her sister and when she came back she kidnapped her 😭 but none of these actions were just Luna she was overcome by powerful magic like many characters we see in the show. However I do see why she would feel the way she does because it's a lot to come back from, but of course she is a good pony and deserves a happy ending

There are also comics aside from the show. I haven't read too many, but one of them briefly showed how ponies' dreams are created and NM wanted to cause nightmares with it. If I remember correctly, her goal was to break Celestia but because she was way too mentally stable NM had to focus on weaker ponies so that they create real problems that Tia has to deal with.

it makes sense. self-hatred doesn't always come from you actually doing bad things, anyone who thinks otherwise is very wrong. you could be one of the nicest people, yet somehow your mind finds a way to tell you that you're evil. I would know, becuase I struggle with self-harm myself.
