Easily one of the best RPG's of the 16bit era. Loved the callbacks to the first game. This is a sequel done right. I remember first playing it and when I heard Galion say "THAT was a record of my best work" I was so hyped.

I remember reading about this game. Was a huge fan of Lunar the Silver Star, made me buy the sega cd. Got this game the day it was released for 40$ from Electronic Botique and still have it. Loved it so much

For this game, definitely. The Sega CD version is an unbelievably great game for its time. But for The Silver Star, I really prefer the Saturn/PSX remakes by a long shot.

@@andrebaxter4023 The Sega CD version has longer and more complex dungeons. The PS1 version kind of waters them down and streamlines them too much. The PS1 version also gives away some of the plot twists too early by dropping really obvious hints where the Sega CD version is a little more subtle about it. The US version of the Sega CD version also beefed up the enemies quite a bit which makes combat a little more difficult. Some people don’t like that change but I think it keeps the game interesting. I like RPGs where things like buffs and status ailments are actually strategic and useful. Finally, the Sega CD version uses a magic experience system that lets you customize the order in which your characters learn new spells. It’s relatively simple, but it was a cool idea for such an old game and it at least gives you some say in your party’s growth. In the PS1 version, the characters just learn the same spells at the same fixed levels. Both versions are good and if you just want to play through the story in a streamlined way, the PS1 version obviously has nicer graphics and such, but the Sega CD just feels like a more thorough game somehow.

Dear god, and I thought working design didn't touch the Sega CD port, the horror of it all. 24:46 Looks like they just ripped some of the vocal recordings from here and pasted it into the PS1 port, didn't even bother to rerecord the lines.
