Putting them side by side shows what a beast the 14 footer is over the 12.

Great video, enjoyed it as I just got a 14' Tinnie with a 15 horse Mercury 4 stroke. Any information on propeller pitches being run, would be interesting to know.

Fiveo waf my mercy was stock. The Honda I believe was stock and the Yamaha had a prop that reduced over all speed but had torque for more weight. I can try find out the pitch on the Yamaha and get back to you
@fiveowaf4546 жыл бұрын
I was mostly interested in your Mercury, I think stock is a 9.25x10 on the 20 HP?, because I have a similar boat with a 15 hp and need to choose a propeller. All the propeller selection guides I look at seem wildly over optimistic about the amount of pitch needed based on my experience with other motors I've had and even looking for my 15 hp Mercury.
@bigair01766 жыл бұрын
Fiveo waf looks like my prop is a 10p. Only markings I can see on it. When I was looking for a motor there wasn’t much difference and size of block or motor between the 15 and 20. Weight was even the same. So went with the 20hp as a result. This motor is solid and I ran it for last 3 years and this year I put over 150-200hours on it easily.

Thought I recognized beer belly flats and those boats, I was there this past year with my Lund 12ft A, looking to change to a 12 WC or 14WC for the growing family. Can’t decide as sometimes I need the lightweight A when I can’t launch with my motor home but I also want more stability of the WC. Do you find the 12WC more able to handle rough water than the A?
@bigair01763 жыл бұрын
Yes the wc is certainly a little more stable. But I have a fam of four and my buddy has the family of four and the ssv is much superior if you ask me. The nice thing about these boats there is very little weight differences really between them. If you went with a 14 the trailer will be a bit longer but easier to launch. Just depends how long your rv is to turn around at bbf. I use my boat in the ocean. The wc has a 15inch transom and the ssv has a 20inch. Gives you better depth. You would love the ssv over the wc personally. Easier to walk around in especially with more then yourself in the boat. Just my 2 cents. Cheers!

Do you find the 20 has enough power for a few guys? Looking at the same boat but was considering the 25. The 20 has appeal though given it is lighter
@bigair01763 жыл бұрын
Ya I I can get up on plane no problem. But if 4 no way. Between 3 of us we weigh 500lbs. You can still do just over 20 knots with three of us in the boat.

Thanks for the SSV videos! I’m seriously considering the SSV 14. I really like the features of the SSV over the WC. Do you have any regrets about the boat? I
@bigair01763 жыл бұрын
Zero regrets! It’s a great little boat. It’s big enough for a family of four on a lake no issues. I run it in the ocean salmon fishing and it catches a lot of fish. I do want a bigger boat for the ocean but more of a luxury desire hehe. Otherwise it is great!

so can you use a 18 hp on the 14ft?
@bigair01766 жыл бұрын
s static yes. You can use up to a 35 on the ssv 14. The wc14 might be different. And other boats may also be different you would have look at the rating right on the boat itself

Do you like the tiller over having a steering wheel?
@bigair01765 жыл бұрын
Ya I don't mind the Tiller over the steering when for the size of the boat. Would be a lot more to hook up every time I use my boat on the lakes. I load it upside down on my truck. I have a video on that on my channel. SO steering wheel wouldn't be practical. If it stayed on a trailer for transport a steering wheel would be nice to tho. Cheers.

I’m just trying to decide now if I want a 14 or 16
@bigair01765 жыл бұрын
@@paulviola4582 what are you planning on using it for mostly? Oceans, large lakes or medium to small lakes. Then there is how deep and wide do you want it to be. lots of different setups you can do.
@paulviola45825 жыл бұрын
Medium to small lakes......I was looking at the fury and thought the 16 might be too big
@bigair01765 жыл бұрын
@@paulviola4582 ya I think the 14 is a better option. The SSV is a nice deep wide boat and plenty big enough for the lakes. I even use mine in the ocean up to 15 knot winds. You could even look at the WC14 as well but I am happy I bought the SSV 14. Not to big or small. I put my wife and 2 kids in the boat and the boat still cruises nice with my 20hp. The boat I believe is capable up to a 35 but that's a little much I think.
@castmastersoutdoors77623 жыл бұрын
How do you think they would hold up in saltwater
@bigair01763 жыл бұрын
I use mine in the salt water every year. The ssv would be my choice for sure. The wc and the type “a” are lake boats minded for sure. You could maybe use them on a calm day no issues. But any wind will make the trip short. I run my ssv from 0-15knot winds. Any more and it’s not really that much fun heheh. Really 10+ knots it’s not fun but it is doable. Just depends on your experience operating boats. I love my ssv and will keep it my whole life. It will always be used in the lakes when I get a second boat for the ocean. I only want a bigger boat as I have twofootitus and want more room to walk around with my growing boys on the ocean. Cheers

Screw that kilometer crap. This is America, U.S.A.. We go by M.P.H., MILES PER HOUR. If you are not from U.S.A. and you are in U.S.A. then convert to our way. WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO AND WILL NOT CONYERT. So I still don't know how fast you was going.
