Mexico at the time had a magical and thriving cinema of equal rank to Hollywood. The greatest Mexican actress of Diva Assoluta status was MARIA FELIX, who didn't need Hollywood and was more beautiful than Garbo. The question is, why didn't La VÉLEZ work in Mexican films with the occasional guest star appearance in Hollywood? Was it the dollar 💵?

You answered your own question. Did you not catch the part of the video, where she would make English films as well as the Spanish version. Thus, doubling her salary? I think, it was not only money, not that money isn’t a factor. After all, it is called “Show business,” NOT “Show art.” It was also More exposure, then just remaining in Mexican cinema. More exposure, equals more opportunity.
