I really like Insecticide as an ability. It plays with Lurantis' bug mimic gimmick. It also gives Lurantis bug STAB to utilize strong bug type moves without having the drawbacks of being a bug type. These buffs would definitely bolster its viability. Thank you for giving this bug cosplayer the spotlight it deserves :)

Honestly with a name like "Insecticide", the reversal of the orchid and orchid mantis relationship, and Lurantis' Scarlet Dex entry, I was fully expecting the new ability to be a damage increase against Bug types specifically. Sure it would be more niche, but the flavor would be so nice. Regardless, these buffs seem pretty awesome all around! I've tried my hand at similarly buffing mons for a ROM hack I'm working on, but this is next level thought and execution, well done! Binged the other buff videos and subbed, can't wait to see what's next!! I'd also like to nominate Luxray for a future video, as while it looks dope as hell, its stats and movepool have always felt like they're not quite all there. Also Rivalry is such a meh ability. Challenge mode: Don't make it a Dark-type lol
@awesomeraichu593426 ай бұрын
@@PKgiannycarlo I can see a valid argument for Insecticide being more effective against bug types, but that would require to nerf a type that is already struggling. I would also love to make a Luxray video (I can give you a shoutout if you’d like, all up to you). And don’t worry, I won’t be giving Luxray type dark. I actually will have a tangent of that video explaining WHY it shouldn’t have the Dark type

@@awesomeraichu59342 And just like that, I already know I made the right decision subbing to you! I'll be looking forward to that video, and I wouldn't mind a shoutout at all, that would be nice of you! And yeah, it's mostly just a flavor nitpick, I think you could change the name and the ability would be fine as is. "Mantis Blades" comes to mind, though the Cyberpunk 2077 reference might throw some folks off haha. Appreciate the reply!

@@PKgiannycarlo I truly appreciate it. It might be some time before I get to Luxray as right now I have a video on Fearow this week, Dudunsparce next week, a Paper Mario TTYD review I want after those two, Tropius and THEN Luxray. As soon as those four are out of the way, the Lynx will get its time to shine
@PKgiannycarlo6 ай бұрын
@@awesomeraichu59342 Sounds like a full plate, but every plan sounds awesome! And super happy to see Tropius on that list, another one of my favorite designs that unfortunately aren't very good in game. Nice to see Fearow as well! I usually grab one for the early game of Fire Red, but always replace it with a Dodrio in the end 😅

@@awesomeraichu59342 I've been giving this some thought, and I already have some ideas for Luxray buffs. For stats, I personally think the biggest favor we could do for it would be to swap its 95 Special Attack with its 70 Speed, though you could probably pull some extra points from that remaining 70 if you wanted to make it faster still. Speed has always been an issue for Luxray, and it doesn't have any special coverage outside of Snarl as far as I'm aware. That could honestly be enough since 120 Attack is great and the 80/79/79 bulk is surprisingly ok for an offensive mon with only 1 weakness imo. And for abilities, Intimidate and Guts are wonderful, but we should absolutely replace Rivalry since it's just awful. My two candidates would be either Strong Jaw since it has access to every bite move apart from Hyper Fang, Poison Fang, Jaw Lock, and Fishious Rend, or maybe an accuracy booster like Compound Eyes to play into the flavor in its name and Dex entries that state that it basically has x-ray vision. Can't wait to see what you've got cooking up too!

in my experience of using lurantis, running a defencive assault vest set works well, leech life is great for healing it because it's always gonna take a hit, and tbh, I think all it needs is a priority move, first impression obviously comes to mind, but sucker punch and quick attack could make sense as well. not to mention these moves will do great damage with superpower boosts
@draxolot47166 ай бұрын
I love the new ability you gave lurantis but I could also see the new ability sharpness being a nice alternative since they’ve already gave it to few older Pokemon. Would work especially well with the new moves you gave him

Lurantis is, sadly, only mid-to-high tier raid mon. It's more PVE than PVP. Also, isn't the original bad speed... Good? At least a bad speed makes it useful for a trick room build? It's not the best, but it's better than like... Goodra, where both forms fall right in the "bad speed for both normal combat and Trick Room setups" zone.

I don't play competitive. Used to, but not since Gen 6. I just play main campaign now. Used Lurantis on a sunny day team, and expected better, lol. Needs more speed.
@silvalgalewalker5036 ай бұрын
I actually had some success with Lurantis during early Scalet/Violet. I'm not a pro, I only play on and off on Showdown, so take it with a pile of salt. I run Lurantis holding Assault Vest with max Atk, half max Def and Sp. Def, and as slow as possible. Moveset is Superpower, Leech life, Grassy Glide, and Knock Off. Run with Grimsnarl and Rillabloom. My strategy was to make Lurantis as hard as possible to remove. Grimsnarl can use Fake tears on Lurantis if more bulk is needed or Parting shot on Lurantis to buff offense. Rillabloom for Grassy terrain and Grassy Glide priority. Cool thing is that Grassy Glide gain priority the moment Grassy terrain goes up, so Parting shot boost Atk, switch in Rillabloom, you get +1 Atk +1 priority 70 power atk at turn 1. Which I have caught some people by surprise when I OHKO their Flutter Mane and Urshifu

Honestly set seems solid but why min speed?
@silvalgalewalker5036 ай бұрын
@@Pi-eipp Since, lurantis is slow anyway. I decide to do min speed in case enemy use trick room. Most of the time, Lurantis is slower than enemy trick room pokemon.
