You know, the saddest thing about Overcoat on Leavanny is that the one argument someone could have for why Overcoat could be clutch on a fragile mon would be, like, Spore immunity right? *Grass is naturally immune to spore lmao* The grass type is not only a hindrance to it defensively but also *literally* renders a significant portion of one ability as useless xD

I was just thinking about this before finding this video, leavanny is such a cool designed pokemon and I would love to see it actually useful. Also we thought of very similar things, with the only difference being that I thought of it getting a mega where it would get sharpness and slicing moves, and stats mainly in attack and speed. I’ve also just been thinking of how to buff the bug type in general, if I make a fan game I will definitely implement these things =D

I've only played PvP (doubles) on cartridge once, I lead Leavanny, my classmate lead Primal Groudon and Mega Houndoom. Leavanny used me first to "steal" Groudon's rock slide and them promptly exploded. It was glorious

This is probably one of my favorite of these buff videos honestly, everything you suggested just makes so much sense! Great new stats and great move suggestions, I'm definitely a fan! I'm also definitely a fan of adding Sharpness, as it really does feel like a no brainer with Leavanny's design. However, having both Unburden and Chlorophyll feels a little redundant, and after seeing some other comments suggest Tinted Lens, I have to say that I think that would be an excellent third ability option.

I actually have a Leavanny in my Violet version who sweeps because if I send her out against a Pokemon with low enough health or that is very weak to Bug moves, I use Fell Stinger, get a +4 Attack buff, then use Leaf Blade, X-Scissor, or Shadow Claw, whichever works best.

I actually think, instead of Unburden, Leavanny should be given _Friend Guard._ For Unburden, you need to use an item for it to take effect, and it is somewhat difficult for it to use up an item as it is now (even Hawlucha, the demon Unburden sweeper, dropped to UU this gen due to there being no good terrain setters outside of Rillaboom. Roaring Moon is the go-to "Unburden" sweeper now, and it doesn't even have Unburden!). Plus, it already has Chlorophyll, which fulfills the sweep enabling role; albeit in a bit more team restrictive manner. Friend Guard, even though it has _no_ use in Singles, would fit its species lore extremely well and grant it a very valuable niche in VGC as one of the few fully evolved Friend Guard users. The other two are Vivillion (LMAO, and would rather use Compound Eyes for Sleep Powder) and Maushold (who would rather run Technician to kill things). While this version of Leavanny would have to ditch Sharpness to run Friend Guard, I think it isn't insta-killing too many mons with a 200 bp move for it to be such a hard trade. Combined with its good support moveset and access to utility moves like Knock Off and Trick, plus maybe the addition of a good redirect move like Follow Me or Rage Powder, and it would be decent-to-good in both Singles and Doubles.

I think it doesn't learn Night Slash because of the themeing. Its specifically based on the behavior of a dishonorable samurai. But yeah, the speed tier reminds me of where Leavanny goes in Ranbats, with its level-based buff. I'd like to see some Maractus love, because you can dip into weather, fire, water and ground if you want to dip into the desert cactus theme really hard.

I think that another option of an ability for Leavanny should be Tinted Lens, just to allow it to bypass walls that come in to counter whatever move Leavanny tries to use. I'd also want to see Meowstic improved

Suggestion: -Taking notes from Oakin64 by splitting the videos into 2 separate parts/chapters, between the realistic buffs and dream buffs -Realistic Buffs being conservative with limited/moderate stat boosts and reasonable movepool additions, and if you want add or replace an existing ability. and -Dream Buffs being your basic default ways of buffing pokémon rn. EDIT: Don’t forget that minor-moderate stat swaps are actually on the table, thanks to Kleavor (135 Atk/70 Sp. Def > 130 Atk/75 Sp. Def)

The best way to buff this pokemon offensively is either just buff Bug Types in general (aka get rid of dumb resistances like ghost fairy and fighting) so the type doesn't just consist of U-turn, like Leavanny doesn't even learn this move. 😑 Or give it Ground type coverage, so it doesn't get hopelessly walled by Poison, Steel and Fire Types. Giving it Drill Run could come a long way, though Flying Types could still be a problem. Maybe even replace abilities, like replace Overcoat for Filter, replace Swarm for Tinted Lens. The latter sounds kinda scary.

ive made it work in doubles ubers on showdown, chlorophyll, fire tera, tera blast, leaf blade, x scissor or fell stinger, and swords dance or knock off is actually really good on it, i personally give it a focus sash to ensure it can set up or kill 2 pokemon, honestly i think im just forcing it to work because its my favorite pokemon, i usually pair it with torkoal to set up the sun
