Lure Coursing at the farm

Luke talks about the set up of Lure Coursing. How it differs at the farm. Who loves it. How he makes it work in a large pack like ours everyday. Some queries regarding prey drive etc.

Thanks for telling about the lure being a game for the dogs. People who question the outcome of this game are not thinking clearly. When one of the small dogs or the girls are running, they don't go after them now do they... The games you have for the dogs are safe

Lure is a good exercise for dogs to release energy not for being too hype. Our dogs had jogging exercise wince they were so hyper when they were young. And yes, dogs are highly intelligent, they know when is the time for games & not and also how you train them too.

Hi Luke. I have a German Shepherd who was well socialised but after a bad dog park experience, he has become reactive to other dogs and sadly wouldn't pass the test to be able to go to your farm. After a bad hip injury it is becoming difficult to exercise him but we have recently purchased 50 acres and I would love for him to do some lure coursing there. Can you tell me the model of the lure machine you use? And I assume the grass needs to be cut very short, is this correct?

Great explanation as to why you do this lure thing . Wish my doggie could do that game . I have to admit he is out of shape and it is my fault .. We go for a daily walk but he needs more so I take him to doggie day care and that helps .

Great video Luke you explained the lure & the rules that apply to the dogs. You are so correct, dogs are very intelligent & know how to work things out. While watching your videos it has never crossed my mind that they dogs would misinterpret the rules. The dogs use the time to exercise & let out that pent up energy. I honestly believe that the respect they have for you as their pack leader at the farm shines through as well. Keep up the great work, more dogs (& owners) could do with the farm. 👍

Hi, Linda, I think you mean Cutie Pie, Elle's Pug puppy? Uncle Luke has said that her time with the pack is carefully monitored to ensure a safe introduction process. They're also careful that Cutie Pie maintains her primary relationship with Elle because Elle is CP's human...not Uncle Luke.
