As others have said, I selected the QAD Exodus after your earlier test. I shot through a MN whitetail with it in 2021 - the broadhead went through its shoulder at a steep angle and a single blade cut through the shoulder's "ridge". The arrow broke when the buck departed - the front 2/3 of the arrow exited the body just above the far leg bone and the back half fell out of the exit hole later down the blood trail. Your tests revealed a quality product and I am very grateful. Good luck this fall.

What a timely test, taking the very head to Colorado for elk this year and leaving next week. These heads fly exceptionally well, and offer a lot of cut and very little friction. Me and my brother and friends have been shooting this Broadhead for a couple years now because we were dissatisfied with the mechanical broadheads we had been shooting and we had shot many different kinds. Our success rate had gone up a ton after switching to the QAD exodus, obviously everyone wants to make a perfect shot, but that just doesn’t happen all the time with an animal, sometimes you hit bone and that’s where these really shine. Haven’t had a deer go over 100 yards yet with this Broadhead, and I have shot around 8 deer since switching 2 of them being mature buck that I shot through the front shoulder, I swear this broadhead acts like nothing was even there, and I have a tough time pulling it out of the dirt after it had gone through the animal. my brother and friends have similar stories to mine. The penetration is excellent. The blood trail is excellent the animals don’t even know what hit them and go just a little ways look around and die right there. What else could you ask for. At this point I can’t see myself ever switching to another Broadhead, I had a big learning curve as far as having to tune my bow, which I knew nothing about, but it is well worth it even if I had mechanicals that the bow didn’t need to be tuned to shoot the same as a field tip, but I believe everyone should tune their bow anyhow, before hunting to get the maximum performance from it and the arrow.

John thanks for the great review. I stumbled on these a while ago after being in a car accident and was recuperating, and have watched them all. Question here on the Exodus, I’ve already purchased and used the discount code, thanks for that. But my questions are, you stated the swept blades would be more durable than the swept, why? Also on the scores the sharpness was 10/10 and under 200 and got the bonus. But after the test the sharpness was still at 200 so why a deduction of 200 gets a bonus why would 200 have any deduction. Just curious.
@LuskArcheryAdventures4 ай бұрын
Thank you. And I love those questions. It might help for you to watch the video I put out at the start of the year explaining all the testing I do and why I do it and how I tabulate the results. For sharpness, anything 200 and under kits a 10 out of 10. But I give a bonus proportionally if the initial sharpness is under 200. For example, if it is 150, then they will get a bonus of .5 pts, since it is 50 grains, lower than 200. I have a different scale for edge retention. While I do measure the sharpness after penetration test one, it is the difference between the initial sharpness and the sharpness after penetration test one that is being tested. So whether that shot is still under 200 grains or not doesn’t matter. It’s the variance between the initial sharpness and the post sharpness. And every 50 grs counts for the loss of point scale.

@ashadow3154 ай бұрын
@@LuskArcheryAdventures Was thinking mainly to boost FOC. The design is already proven to be beyond solid. Even a 200 grain version with a tad more cut would be amazing for those of us with long draw lengths and good draw weights. The 125 grain version blew through about 2/3rds the length of the elk I took. I had no clue the shot was angled that much to me and only had seconds to shoot. The exit whole was literally the size of my palm. The elk was on his feet for about 8 seconds and never covered more than 8 yards. 25 grains is about the size of a .177 pellet. It’s not much, but adding it to the very tip of an arrow versus a slightly heavier insert moves that FOC pendulum just that much more. I’m happy with the 125 and will keep using it. Thanks for your tests, they were the deciding factor is using this head and it did amazing, stuck in an aspen tree on exit and still hunting sharp on two blades and the third wasn’t bad.

I have a video where I shot a broadhead through a bulletproof vest. You can find it on my channel. It went through like butter. They’re not designed to resist blades. They do make body armor that resists blades like that. But I’m trying to test the structural integrity of the head in a zero penetration test. And concrete does that fairly effectively and inexpensively.

Yes, go to QAD’s website. If you search for quality Archery designs on Google, it will come right up.

What arrow spinner are you using?

I can’t remember. It’s upstairs and after my surgery it’s hard for me to get up there. I just got it from a cheap Amazon company. But it’s really really good.

Hi Lusk! Question. I draw 70lbs but have only a 27” draw. For big elk, would you choose QAD Exodus or VPA single bevel? Thanks!
@LuskArcheryAdventures4 ай бұрын
I took my first elk with 70 lbs and 27" draw with an Exodus. It penetrated extremely well.

I didn’t have good luck with these broadheads as far as flying true like my field points. Would you say these over the hyde?
@LuskArcheryAdventures4 ай бұрын
They're both really good. But if these didn't fly well, it's probably your bow's tune.

Is there any real difference between the two blade styles offered?
@LuskArcheryAdventures2 ай бұрын
Well, when is considered barbed which makes it illegal in about six states. The other is not considered barbed so it is legal everywhere. The swept, or non-barbed version, is slightly more forgiving in flight because of the lesser surface area. But they are both equally strong.
@johnkelsey14862 ай бұрын
@@LuskArcheryAdventures Wouldn't the barbed version have less surface area and therefore be more forgiving?

If I had money to switch I would. I just have a ton of what I got.

Do you think these out perform tooth of the arrows?
@LuskArcheryAdventures4 ай бұрын
That’s hard to say. I really like both Broadheads. The biggest difference is having a one piece head versus replaceable blades. Some like the replaceable blades of the exodus because they’re always extremely sharp. Others like a one piece head because they can just sharpen them on any flat surface. They’re both extremely tough and get the job done. I’ve taken a lot of animals with both of them.

Triangle holes are great they won't ever close. That's why they are illegal in war.

Can you use these in a crossbow
@LuskArcheryAdventures4 ай бұрын
Yes. They made a Crossbow model as well...it just fits with the extra arrow thickness. But you can use any of their models thru a crossbow.

Good head but won't kill any better than a Slick Trick Magnum 125 which gives more cutting area .....
@LuskArcheryAdventuresАй бұрын
They’re both great heads. The blades on the exodus are much more durable. And they make a wider cut too. And they penetrate better. But the Slick Trick cuts more tissue.
@mr.skeptical30714 ай бұрын
They ain't no joke, but , just like ALL fixed blades...they ALL wind plane some!
@LuskArcheryAdventures4 ай бұрын
Yep, every fixed head is prone to that. But there’s so little surface area on these blades, they are quite forgiving.

Pretty well hit same as field point though??? Lol
@timtubra79784 ай бұрын
Agreed. They fly well but mine kept hitting 4-6 inches left of field point versus a single bevel BH matching with my field points. I may try to tune them after this season again. Side note I was shooting them 4 fletched not 3.
@driftlesshunter92004 ай бұрын
Most mechanical broadheads must have long ferrules to stash their blades, whereas a QAD Exodus ferrule is not much longer than a field point.

Yeah, I typically use the 125s. But with my arrows at least and my set up, I can use the 100, 125 and any 150 grain Broadhead interchangeably out to at least 40 yards.
