Brass nut 38 mm wide would be the solution ... she coast 70 euro bucks... than i didn t needed the string retainer... locks she d one the angled headstock anyway ... but they cost just 14 eushe for two . I thought they could take some of the tention by forcing the string in a straight alinement so far away from the nut as posible. I know that the angle from string to mechanic would be weard. Maybe the string would rip more often / always ... i dont know but a broken string sounds better to me than a broken nut. But then i need to chainge strings 😱

Good day sir. You life my dream.😅 I bought two squier mini p basses. They are for my brothers kids ( 6 and 8 ). I will mod the hack out of them. My biggest problem is the paint work. In good old europ space is rare and i dont want to spray paint in the apartment and autum brings rain. So i still need to figure out some way to get the painting done. I think you have the best job in the world. How you started your career as a luthier? Not that i am nosie but i think it will be a great story to tell. And by the way what you think about the syntetic bone that is used by fender. One reason why i picked the squier. It comes straight with a ok nut. One part less to replace. Usualy i go with the graphtech tusq nut ( i don t use fender cause they have the widest necks 2 or 3 mm wider than the generic clone ) graphtech had that in mind when they made them. Honestley if the jackson wouldn t had that she D stringangle with the head stock i had grabed two of them. They look awsome. But good looking and slap bass don t go always well together. I belive a proper string retainer could fix that . But i am not sure if you could still make neck adjustments without taking the retainer off. First I thought about spliting the retainer ( 2x2 instead 1x4 ) but the jacksons have the problem that the strings run not center with the pick up magnets ( i think that it is just the dimensions of the bridge or the satels on it and it is gone if you put an "actual" bridge on it [ exampl fender hi mass] ) . The jackson would be nice but i think the fender is more robust and less pointy for savety😅. Njoy live an greatings from smelly europ 🎉

I've been playing bass since 1983 and building them since 1998. Started building them commercially back in 2014. I also like the Tusq nuts. Very durable. Also brass nuts are very good too. I also like to use a bridge with variable string spacing such as the Hipshot Kick-Ass Hi-Mass bridge! Thank you for the comments!

I used Fusion 360 for the finger board. I use Carbide Create for the simpler jobs.
