Nice JayDee you have. I found the cleaning interesting. I had my JayDee Roadie Active built in 1986 in Johns Workshop in the mid nineties. It was polished there but somehow especially the neck kept on feeling kind of sticky afterwards and not as smooth as before. Using standard guitar polish does not help as I hoped. If I understood you correctly, you use spray car polish for the varnish? I would love to hear your suggestions. By the way, I feel exactly the same about „my precious“ (insert Sméagol timbre) as you do. This Bass has been in my life for so many years and having learned also to live with minor quirks it has (neck reacting to temperature changes) this beloved instrument will never leave me. Hi Thilo! On the JayDee I carefully used a fine Scotch Brite pad to gently buff down the neck so that it was smooth. I didn't stick so much afterwards. Thanks for your comment, and all the best!

Brass cavity covers probably don’t help with the weight.
