I installed combination of 35 switches and remotes which I use with HomeKit. It was definitely worth the expense and haven't had an issue yet. I consider it an investment in my home. PS. I shopped between Amazon, Lowes, and Home Depot for parts. I save a few hundred bucks between sales and veteran discounts.

I have Lutron motion sensors in my bathrooms, laundry room, walk in closets and garage. I'm thinking about adding Lutron smart switches to the rest of my home along with smart plugs for TVs and floor lamps.

As I retired electrician I would just like to say, if you would like the Yokes on your switches and other devices distorted even more than shown here, feel free to use a 1" pneumatic impact gun. This will also guarantee your screw heads are 100% cammed out so you'll never get them back out again.

I am looking for dimmers for my room where I have a chandelier with several dimmable LEDs (15w g9) and I would like to make a connection between two Lutron dimmers. One of these dimmers would be at one side of the room (near the entrance to the house) and the other at the other side (near the hallway leading to the kitchen). I searched a lot and came across numerous Lutron dimmer models and in most youtube videos it is not clear which Lutron dimmer model to choose. Important point is that I would not want to use a Pico and they should be compatible with Home Assistant. Do you have any tips for me about which dimmer model I should use?

Did you have to replace all the boxes with the simple on/off switch or did it fit just snug?
@UltimateTechHub2 жыл бұрын
The switches fit a little snug. I also used dimmer switches as well for some different areas. Thank you for watching I really appreciate it.

Why do so many North American Smart home/electrical videos use wire nuts??? Is WAGO not available in North America?

Did you have to change you wiring to make the system work? I’ve been told I need to run CAT6 cable to all of my lights which is costly. I’m looking into Lightwave at the moment and want to know if this is a genuine competitor or if there is a hidden cost in the cabling and modules etc

That's a nice setup but most people don't have that kind of money. I prefer Wyze smart color bulbs. They're about $20 for 2 bulbs. They have any color, and shade, you want. Plus you can do scenes, routines and control everything by voice or phone. Wyze, to me, is the best option for a smart home. All their products are prices well and the company is run by former Amazon techs that want to make cheaper "ring style" products that do the same, and in some cases, more than other options. Also, i haven't used a wall switch in years. I would rather just talk, or use my phone, to do what i want. I do have to say I'm glad you're not using Apple's homekit, or whatever it's called. I don't like Apple products at all.
@UltimateTechHub2 жыл бұрын
Yes, Lutron is expensive that's for sure. If my house didn't come with the Lutron Bridge Pro and the 1 Lutron smart switch I probably would have gone with Wyze. But once I started buying additional switches 1 or 2 at a time I began to really like Lutron. And with alexa we use voice controls for all the Lutron lights and the scenes are awesome! Make sure to watch our latest video Smart Home Network Tour its a great video! Thanks for watching!

I recently looked into getting a whole bunch of Lutron switches, and was told that in order to make scenes with them, a Lutron rep/technician needs to come out to set it up. I didn't ask the price, but I'm assuming it's not $0. Did you need to do that with your Lutron system, or did you set this up on your own?
@UltimateTechHub3 жыл бұрын
No you don't need a Lutron rep to set up the switches. That's what they say to make more money. You need to be able to I install the switches which I have many videos on that subject. You also need a Lutron smart bridge hub to plug into your router. The smart bridge hub connects all your switches into your network. Simply download the lutron app and you can add each switch and name it and it's location. I have many videos on this so use them as references. Good luck and keep me posted! Thank you for watching and if you subscribed thank you as well.

So the cheap wall remotes do not hook up to power? They got batteries?
@UltimateTechHub3 жыл бұрын
Yes. The batteries should last many years. I've had mine for 2 years now. Thank you for watching I really appreciate it.
@Legomax182 жыл бұрын
Hmm I wouldn’t call them cheap. I like the Pico remotes and they’re as good as they can be, IMO. The way they can be used to create/replace a 3-way so easily is genius. And they’re really useful, for having a “kill all” switch, in attrition to the normal 3 way setup. For example, I have a Pico set to turn off all the lights upstairs when I go downstairs, and vice versa. They’re great, and feel just like a real switch, when installed. Lutron is one of those brands that’s somewhat mainstream, yet not overhyped, and legitimately at the top of their game. Offering a product that’s at a level of reliable and quality where it effectively outclasses any other competitor-barring specific cases where someone wants a niche feature that Lutron doesn’t do. They’re the Glock, the Prismacolor, the Porsche, the Tempurpedic and etc., of home lighting.
@ZupE8912 жыл бұрын
@@Legomax18 I went ahead and got it and I love it as well. I did not think of making a remote to turn off all the lights downstairs or upstairs, that a great idea. Though I could do that with google home.. the switch is a nice to have especially when children are sleeping.
@cmstrauss5142 жыл бұрын
It's also worth mentioning these are not compatible with with all lightbulbs. Just because you add the Lutron switches means it will work well. I found out the hard way. Did it "work" yes, but significant buzzing even though they were dimmable bulbs. Had to switch out all the dimmer bulbs to Lutron compatible ones. The one I cannot figure out how to troubleshoot, is my on off switch for the outdoor light. The light never fully turns off! I have double checked the wiring and everything, nothing makes it go off (aside from pulling out the tab which is not convenient because it is disconnected). Any suggestions?! Thanks!
@UltimateTechHub2 жыл бұрын
Yes some bulbs do not work well with these dimmers. We have LED bulbs in our bathroom and the dimmer will not turn the light off all the way. We get a ghosting look we're the bulb is just barely on. And the dimming doesn't work well for these bulbs either so we swapped out the dimmers for on off switches and they work perfectly. Most of our lights work with dimmers but not all. I have never had a problem with an on off switch not turing off the light. I would switch out the light bulb with a different watt bulb to see if it works. Keep me posted and thanks for watching I really appreciate it.
@cmstrauss5142 жыл бұрын
@@UltimateTechHub thanks. Yeah I’ve heard about the ghosting w dimmers too. I wish I could just change the bulb! Unfortunately it has a built in LED and not able to change it. Previous owners installed this, I hate it. Because changing the light requires a whole new wired fixture! Dumb 😣😫
