The RAREST EVGA Motherboard - EVGA P55 Classified 200 Unboxing & Overview

I was very lucky a few months ago as I was able to spot and purchase an extremely rare EVGA P55 Classified 200 motherboard. Not only that, the motherboard was actually in brand-new condition and never used. I have been looking for one of these boards for many years as I consider this the very best LGA1156/P55 motherboard that ever existed.
The motherboard has many features that were absent on other EVGA motherboards of that time, and are still interesting even in today's perspective. Back then, as multi-GPU was still a huge thing, the P55 Classified got the additional name 200 from the NF200 chip that's present on the motherboard that multiplies the available PCI-E lanes on the CPU. Therefore, the motherboard can actually run 3-way SLI and even 4-way CrossfireX with different slot options and option for a dedicated PhysX card.
The most unique feature is the Show Volt -feature on the motherboard, that is actually a real volt meter implemented on the motherboard, which shows accurate voltage readings at the hardware level when you poke the measurement spots with the provided test lead. An early version of the EVGA Debug LED sensoring device that came out later in 2017-2018.
Overclocking wise the board has a very strong VRM on all of the important rails and the Volterra PWM can actually go up to 1333KHz switching frequency. Based on the results I know already this board can definitely reach very high CPU and memory clock speeds. I am expecting 2700-2800+ CL8 and lower timing configurations with Elpida BBSE and PSC once I get some testing going on and with memory on LN2.

PCIe influencing max BCLK behavior is not a thing on this platform, likely because the PCIe controller is integrated into the CPU on this socket. Also: only one chipset - second heatsink covers the PLX. No ICH10.

So even this motherboard has resistors or capacitors in center of CPU. When does Intel or EVGA plan to address the issue so computers don't need to be sent in for specialist repairs. i'm just saying that this design is not very convenient for the computer owner. and placing the resistors on the underside of CPU is equally frustrating. What were they thinking!

The 285 classified had a normal 285 and then a 295 modded bios for 4way. It's actually less rare than the 285 FTW 2GB.

I picked up one of these a while ago but it won't post with my 875k, never bothered to look into why or not but the main reason I got it was it came with the external control board I wanted to use with my 4-way x58 SLI board lol.

I dont understand why you and others on youtube claim EVGA invented quad sli when that was the thing at least since 2006 with gtx 7900 gx2 sli and myb even before that wtih some custom dual gpu cards?

I have the little brother, the P55 Micro, which i dailied and benched a bit on ye old days. It is a beast. Regarding your inquiry on the SATA ports, EVGA seems to have added a separate PCIe clockgen so you can manually set BCLK and PCIe speeds separate, i was able to "bench" on a bit over 200 BCLK with no issues, using the Intel SATA slots. Even for daily, going at 200 BCLK poses no major issues. Felt a bit like clocking on a 775 mobo but with an i3-550. I would love top see you benching Clarkdale, and if possible, when you make the cold bug mod to your mobo, if possible you could see if that mod is exclusive to the Classy or other mobos (like mine) need to be modded.

i have some over-clocking question for the experts here (not related to the video). Is 2 sticks of ram overclock better that 4 sticks on a x38/x48 chipset?

Yes as always. Overclocking 4 DIMMs is very hard.

@@LuumiJuhani Thanks Luumi. Love your channel. Quick question. Is x38 similar to x48? I heard they are identical but my X38 max FSB is 465MHz at 1.5V, with 4 sticks GSkills 1066, Core 2 Q9550 1.29V. Is it likely that the x38 could hit 475Mhz if running 2 sticks instead? Or is it a Quad core OC problem? Is P45 better for OC?

its not an issue in the first place. Even on x58 its not really an issue, I'm holding the socket record for BCLK and used the onboard sata controller for that score...
