Great recordings on Vinyl truly shine through when the combination of speakers, phono, amp & pre-amp are placed in just the right acoustical environment. You take anyone off the street to listen to this system and these recordings, and they will be hooked on quality hi-fi.

I am tremendously impressed with the beautiful Epicon series from Dali. These model 8's are fabulous at showcasing the magnificent fidelity of the Lux sound. This system is very expensive for an average buyer, but it's worth every last dime for supreme quality. And especially for it's part, Dali should be extremely proud of the Epicon 8. It is a colossal achievement in a top design.

I ordered this configuration, with the exception of the Dali Epicon 8 speakers, I have the Dali Epicon 2 speakers. The Dali Epicon 8 speakers are on my whish-list : )

Do you answer questions? If so, I am inquiring about the tubes inside the Luxman EQ500 phono preamp. How would you know when it's time for them to be replaced? How long do these tubes typically last? Can you do it yourself or do you need to ship it to someone to do it for warranty purposes? Thanks!

This idea what about giving a category out of 10 for best systems at the shows! That would be good. A breakdown in different aspects what you found nice about a system, not just the sound, and what the sound was like for you how it made you feel. Be more useful and educational to people buying hi-fi

I think John I may take a different approach in the future but yp to this point to get as much on camera as I do I have to go non stop all day and dont really get a chance to absorb the rooms I am in because I am concentrating so much on getting the video and audio as best I can. Maybe next year I will take a different approach we will see what transpires but I did mention what I thought were the standout rooms in the review video

I would find the score would be more for the effort they put into getting the sound good in the room they were in. A lot of systems suffer due to the small rooms they are set up in, so it wouldn't be fair to score the system, as such, in these instances. But it's a good idea to give praise where it's due, in any case.

Hi Terry, Had a chance to hear the Epicon playing at Lisbon Audioshow and they rock the hotel. slight diferente presentations has at the time they where being driven by Simaudio Moon gear and mf turntable. Great sound and gear

Well the Epicons still sound beautiful, despite their outdated early 2000s appearance (in particular the front baffle). Time has come for a succeeding range, it's almost overdue now.

If integrated is replaced with luxman 700 pre/power amp, would that improve the sound ? If turntable is connected to integrated amp phono stage, does that make big difference, these phono stages of luxman, yamaha, accuphase.. are supposed to be good (no tubes though)?

I have the Luxman 505uXII paired with the dali helicon 800s, but I don't play boring jazz pr classical music. Throw some rock or metal on these babies and let's see what it's got!! :) Love luxman/dali pairing though!

You have Dali Epicon and Opticon 2 different ranges - Epicon is the top Opticon is about the middle

All the speaker components are totally different. The shape of the epicon series, makes I sound so much better, since it balances the airpressure inside the speaker cabinet.

Top-end energy is missing in comparison to the rest of the audio band imo. Can't be the fault of the Luxman gear since I had heard them with Audiovector in which case the pairing sounded more evenly balanced to my ears. However, AV can sound unforgiving as can PMC too, so take care with partnering.

This was a strong 2nd worst room at the show where first place was strongly held by Cambridge Audio (not a surprise). While Luxman L509X is my dream-amp and Dali not so, but unquestionably good speakers, that combo just didn't blend together. Definitely horrible speaker's choice for a room and bad match with otherwise great amp!

The turntable is a good one, but i dooooont like Dali. They always lose vs most others manufascturers at that price point at any shows.
