Yes I was surprised myself by that figure, but after living in the Yucatan over 6 years and seeing it myself over and over again it is not a real surprise.

With so much poverty in the area, why are the income requirements so higher for the temporary visa, you would think that the government would want more wealth coming into the country but within reason, at least more reasonable than the current requirements. It wouldn’t affect me but it eliminates a ton of folks who would want to move to Mexico and contribute to the economy.

The reality is that there are MANY ways in which one can obtain Residency in Mexico that DO NOT require you to provide any kind of financial solvency. Some do, but it is mainly in the minority. I discuss it more in the livestream. Many people are looking for someone to blame and many times it is easier to blame it on the immigrant than the actual business owner who is causing the price inflation and gentrification.
