You chose the worst powertrain to compare to the Range Rover. The GLE450 (non-e) is more comparable with a proper 6 cylinder, and still comes in under the price of the Range Rover. Your complaint about the unacceptable interior build quality of Mercedes is valid, but your praise for the powertrain reliability of Range Rover is the result of you being very lucky.

This **is** the comparison I was waiting for, but it seemed extremely biased in terms of the RR. I own a ‘20 RR Sport and love it, but the GLE is an equally impressive car. I noticed that features that were not in the RR used here were mentioned, but options were not mentioned for the GLE. The GLE definitely has rear climate control and sun shades if you option them. Rear zone climate is also an option on the RR

This is my dilemma, I am car shopping and test drove the Range Rover, everyone says don't get one, I know it's a gamble on quality etc but I literally have the same reaction as you when I get in it, it is just so good and so good looking. The competitors just really don't compare to it.

I ordered the 2024 RR. It was between that or the Q7. I needed a 7 seater and being an A6 owner, I leaned more towards another Audi but the Q7 seemed dated. I was told the same thing when I purchased the A6….that they’re not reliable. Almost 10 years now and it still drives like brand new with zero issues. Maintenance costs are higher than your average Honda or Toyota but the drive is not the same.

Both are really nice. I appreciate how the Range Rover has nice 4 piston front calipers, supple leather, rear climate controls, and headlight washers. Those running boards on the MB gotta go and the daytime running lights remind me of baby teeth. Lol Also, I’m not a fan of the rough leather MB uses in their lower trims.

Everything you said about the RR is completely true. The Merc is probably suitable for a younger consumer based and the RR, for a more mature, quieter and family oriented personality. Just my opinion though.

Thank you Sam for the great review!!! RR are still on a different league, but it's amazing to see the MB edging right into the segment. Very nice cars indeed, but I'd take the Range Rover if it's for the term of the lease/financing. For the long-term, I don't think I'd take a Hybrid car (my own personal preference), but I wouldn't trust Land Rover's reliability. Would love to see how those flush/concealed door handles behave in winter or freezing rain and you'd be left locked outside of the car until you are able to warm it up/de-frost it... They look nice, but they don't work in our colder latitudes (Teslas, RR, etc.) Peace!

Next time instead of looking down in GLE to gauge cluster, try the head up display. Also I'm not really sure why you need to look down either, maybe you have wrong seat adjustment. Range Rover Sport has more premium material as it costs $20K more compared to similar options GLE. And you are right RR is in a different league when it comes to how soon all those nice things will break & how fast it loses value. There is a reason for those prices at used market.

You didn't actually sit behind yourself, behind the driver seat, when you switch to Range Rover Sport. I did the comparison couple of months ago when I was doing rounds between dealers to find the car for us and GLE has far more space in the front and the back compared to RRS and X5. It also has more space, to my extreme surprise, compared to Q7/8 and Cayenne. Its actually similar to space you'll find in the full size RR. Material quality, fit and finish, leaves much to be desired. However, X5/7 makes everything else feels like used French cars from the early 2000s... BMW is simply on another level when it comes to build quality. Just touch the speaker housings in the RR/S and let me know how it feels under your fingers.

I just built a Range Rover Sport P360 and a GLE450 with the features I would want and the Range Rover was only $2k more. The only feature that the GLE has over it to my knowledge is massage seats. I'll take the Range Rover please.

It’s laughable to say the least that these vehicle manufacturers are making plug in hybrids with only 30+ or 40+ miles per charger and then once the battery dies out your car becomes a total turtle! Why not make something that can give you 100+ per charge hybrid? Cmon now! I have a Toyota RAV4 Prime, plug in hybrid with 4 cylinder engine and the vehicle while it’s nice it’s a complete turtle once the battery depletes itself…. So unfortunately, she’s going to be sold!

The GLE has a great EV range of slightly over 50 miles that’s why I chose it - way more than Toyota or any other plug in hybrid I test drive. The Toyota drives very rough, tight and plasticky but it does have a better gas mileage.

@@SamCarLegion You had a poor and one of the worst versions of the GLE for your test. There should be a 450 diesel with a 3-liter engine, 4-zone air conditioning, ventilated rear seats. It's a pity that you didn't compare them at night with combined multi-color ambient lighting, then your opinion about the interior of both cars changes ;) Mercedes has the best lit interiors and in the evening/night it makes a great impression on everyone who gets into it. Too bad you had ambient lighting turned off. In addition, the energizing system in the GLE is brilliant, combining scents, lights, massages and music, influencing the passengers accordingly. It has great outdoor air filtering and air ionization. (p.s. it's a pity you didn't say what you wanted about the perfume, how it helped while driving ;) ) . The front seats have this great mode of dynamically supporting the driver when cornering, pumping appropriate zones. In the version with better suspension, each wheel in the GLE can be controlled independently and there is much higher driving and driving comfort, even better noise reduction and absorption of unevenness.

22:40 I have never heard so much nonsense in 20 minutes as in this video. Mercedes is downsizing because of the EU and is moving away from 6 and 8 cylinders? lol rather, it is the other way around. Range Rover doesn't even have its own V8 engine, they build maximum 6 cylinder engines and that under the supervision of the indian TATA group haha. The V8 in the Range Rover comes from BMW and is called 'BMW N63'. BMW is German right? Mercedes, on the other hand, has its own V8 engine with 612 PS called 'M177' in the GLE 63 AMG. There are 4 and 6 cylinder gle diesels - 6 and 8 cylinder gle petrols. I just don't understand why there is so much bullshit on KZbin. To me the Merc already looks dated esp when its at the side of the RR , you can look at older RR and they still look more modern then the Merc . The Merc inside is ok but I too have notice cheap buttons etc the RR looks smart. Had the GLE, owning the Range now. The Range is just the superior car. Even the audio system. Not sure why you said the burmeister is better but I disagree especially for the kind of music I listen to. I had an S-Coupe before with B3D, and THAT was indeed really good. But the standard... And the space in the back is indeed better in the GLE but the backrest is so straight up it makes it completely unusable for long distances...
