I was invited to a year end party, no one wear Rolex there; mostly Chinese made dress watches or Japanese quartz ; no one drive Mercedes; mostly 10 years old Japanese or Korean brand cars. But there’s plenty of beer, good meat lamb; pork; chicken bbq; grilled seafood . I heard sound of joy; I think that is true happiness.

What is happening now is exactly what happened in Sneaker business a few years back. Certain people/companies coming in and buying everything then driving the price up as they dump them on the secondary market. It’s not about the horology anymore but about making a fast buck. Once I saw that @sshole from Shark Tank involved and hanging out on Teddy’s channel(I unsubscribed immediately) I knew the watch game was destroyed…possibly forever.

Happiness is not about winning a competition; it’s about being recognized as successful through helping others in need. I feel people that buy luxury watches and feel successful is just faking himself. It’s like going to a trophy store buying a trophy and claim himself as a winner.

While I don't disagree on that the whole public scene such as auctions etc going nuts (I mean over 90k for a Hulk...c'mon)...I do think that that greed, that illness has not corrupted every corner of this hobby. I'm a member of RedBar Switzerland and Turicum Watch Group and I can proudly say that the the shared passion for watches in those groups is genuine. Of course you'll have members with heavy hitters next to those with more affordable ones but the admiration for each others collection is real and truely wholesome. Depending on where on their horological journey one is and also depending on their taste we are all united in having dream watches we'll probably never own but that doesn't take away from the fact that the community is bigger than the sum of its parts. You could argue that maybe someone would silently envy another member for a watch or maybe someone would utter how they'd like to have a certain watch too, but never did that impact the community sentiment in any negative way and I am grateful for being part of it.

I’ll always love the one watch guy more then the hype collector. I buy what’s in my heart not what the hypers suggest or think is cool. I’m kind of done with watches, it’s a different vibe now. When I 1st started it meant something to wear a Rolex, it meant you were a good guy with a good watch. Now it means your a hyperster following the Social media’s lol. Once I saw that @sshole from Shark Tank involved and hanging out on Teddy’s channel(I unsubscribed immediately) I knew the watch game was destroyed…possibly forever.

The resell price basically becomes the new retail price. The difference is that Travis Scott Jordan 1s aren’t being mass-produced perpetually like Rolexes. They’re made once, released and onto the next. Also, you can go into Nike and actually buy sneakers in your size (albeit not the Travis Scotts) whereas Rolex shelves are fucking empty
@frankv70683 жыл бұрын
@@golfinguru11 No it’s exactly the same, try getting of pair if regular Jordan retro 1 - 14 original color way, Original retro Kobe Bryant, Original retro Lebron, Scotty Pippen,…. So on and so on release day or any other day. They are all mass produce, even Jordan 11 broke the record at making a million pair of retro 11 concord and they still sold out on release day, and people died. Travis Scot is a limited collaboration with Jordan Kinda like what patek did with tiffany but patek is beyond on steroids. I was in the sneaker game just like the watch game, back in the 90s and early 2000’s you could easily pick up the same sneakers and back before 2018 you could walk into a Rolex AD and pick up any Rolex models easily on the shelf, I got my Sea Dweller red and a Skydweller blue walking in the store, my second Sea Dweller the two tone I had to be on the list for a month, and now I recently been on a list for a Yatchmaster 2 and even with prior buying history is been a year they haven’t called. And now the robberies and killings are taking place, no one knew what a Rolex was unless it was a Presidential, now even a submariner will get you killed.
