Very cool. Very interested to see what people do with these LV engines

Kind of cool and a throwback to when Jeeps came with another GM v6 the Buick 225 Fireball ( oddfire) v6 sold by Jeep as the Dauntless v6 The Buick V6 both the 225 and the 231 ( 3.8) are a Buick 300 v8 with two cylinders missing

Here's a good power package for it: *Custom cam: (this is absolutely necessary)* >107 LSA if 10:1 compression and factory valve size (start at 108 if 2.02 big valve heads, and +1 LSA for every point compression above 10:1) in order to have correct valve event timing. >Chosen LSA*2+desired overlap at advertised duration to figure out your duration. 40-deg overlap at advertised = street/towing, 30-deg = stock/towing, 50-deg = hot street. Every +10-deg overlap after that should be considered "1/4" of a race cam. Don't use or worry about .050 duration, that's "irrelevant" when choosing the correct overlap for the powerband/application. >Equal duration and lift for intake and exhaust, pick as much lift as your spring package and duration can support >Flat tappet or solid roller, no hyd-roller BS *Information verifiable by David Vizard's teachings and Cattledog Garage on YT* *Headers/Exhaust:* 1.75-inch primaries, equal length, 20-30 inches (so a shorty/mid header) in length, 2.5-inch collectors. Equal length Y-pipe into a 3.5-inch single for at least 20 inches, then you can separate it into 2.5-inch duals again to make it easier to find compatible mufflers. Cut no more than 1/3 of the diameter off of the duals when merging or splitting to and from the 3.5-inch single, and run them no sharper than a 15-degree merge collector angle for the merge/split portion. Should put you around 330-350whp in 2wd with stock heads and compression. Closer to 400 if you port the heads and perfect the combustion chambers as per David Vizard's teaching, and potentially over 400 if you go high compression (11.5-12.5) and premium fuel. Regardless, each should achieve 1.4 lb-ft per cubic inch or more, especially given that the stock heads are essentially the excellent 5th gen LT-series heads. And that's WITH a fat torque plateau in the low RPM range, too. This is quite unlike traditional aftermarket cams that trade low RPM punch for high rpm power. David Vizard-designed cams can and WILL do both. He and Cattledog Garage have quote "Beaten big blocks with small blocks" using their cam theory and knowledge about correct valve event timing.

Cool swap Mitch. I'm surprised he didn't have a cooling issue, the fan is turning in the wrong direction because of the water pump rotation.

I'm putting a lv3 in a 1970 Datsun Roadster. I'd love a manual transmission. How did he get a flywheel. What standalone? Oh so many questions
