LX SU-47: The Worst Maiden Flight (Crash) I've Ever Had

Out of 150+ RC airplane maidens, this was literally the worst I can remember. I have no idea what went wrong, but I suspect it's a combination of things.

Wow, sorry for your loss. I was wondering how that thing would fly the first time I saw the model advertised. I don't know who LX is and I certainly won't be buying this or any of their stuff based on this video. Obviously you are a very experienced pilot, that would have gone much worse with a less skilled individual. Good luck with the rebuild and we look forward to the re-maiden with CG adjusted and no thrust vectoring or gyro.

Well, the good news is that I did get a re-maiden complete and the plane flew alright. The bad news is the plane has been sitting in my shed for nearly a year now. I need to get it out, do some minor adjustments and get her in the air again... kzbin.info/www/bejne/mmHamKyXfMiIn5I

Wowzers! That thing had a mind of its own ! Sorry for your crash ☹️.. hope to see her fixed and up in the air ... it dipped down on take off ??? Maybe battery shifted ? The gyro could of glitched , what kind of gyro was it ? On some of the gyros you have to re learn positions , it’s usually a flick of a switch a few times .. 🧐🧐

It was a admiral gyro/receiver. I have these in tons of airplanes, so I'm fairly familiar with their use. It definitely COULD have been a gyro issue, but right now I'm very uncertain.

@@ShadowVFX oh I see ! I stopped using those , I kept losing signal , I live in the city with a bunch of cell phone towers and electrical lines , i believe I was getting interference ... It could of been the thrust vectoring .. I watched the review from Pete on youtube .. and he does a acrobatic move kind of what your plane was doing ...

Hate to ask, maybe somebody said, " did you do a CG check"?

I based my CG off someone on RCG who was reputable. Admittedly, I was about 1cm behind their recommended CG point. I definitely wasn't expecting the plane to be so uncontrollable with such a modest aft CG change. It didn't help that I had thrust vector on. It exacerbated the tail heavy aspects of the plane.

You should never ever maiden a plane with gyro on. Leave it off and trim the plane first then take it up high and flip it on and see what it does. Should always have it so you can shut it off if it's not working right

Yep. That would've been a good idea. For what it's worth, I did switch it off during the "sky dance" and it didn't seem to change anything.

Pilot's error for sure... Looks like pilot never fly trust vectoring jet. Too much channels for you...Try sim first...

Apparently you didn't read the post analysis on my video about how this is my second SU-47 (sold the previous one). And you must not have seen the follow up videos where I flew it just fine after adjusting the CG. You also missed the other videos of me flying thrust vector airplanes like the FW Eurofighter, Gripen, Su35, etc... I also have videos where I modified a freewing Su35 (which has TV) into an SU-37 with canards and flew it fine, multiple times... But sure. It's because the plane had TV and I need sim time... Gotta love the armchair expertice. You watch a 30s video and then know 100% of everything there is to know. You sir, are a genius.
