Just replaced the windshield on my LX470 at Safelite in Nanuet, NY. They used FUYAO M147. The glass itself looks and feels fine. But the whole installations started leaking after the first heavy rain. The problem was not related to the glass but to the side moldings around it. The tech used self-tapping screws instead of using rivets as was originally done at the factory. During the second visit he plugged the rivet holes with extra screws and polyurethane. Hopefully that will work. The leak caused electric shorts in the junction box on the driver side and made the horn blowing at night waking up the neighborhood.

Oleg F this is a major thing with having 3rd party do the installation. The details on the installation can make or break the car. Someone’s 2011LX on ih8mud was totaled because of the leak

Oleg F I live in Westchester and Safelite is coming out to repair a din. I’ll NEVER trust them on replacement

If you use a dealership, will they provide the right tools and rivets?

@@ejshelby5460 The repair that I wrote about is holding well after the second fix. The guy who did it named Mike probably learned his lesson. You may try them to save a few bucks.

Thank you Oleg F. I'll give them a call and use the key word: rivet, see what their reaction is! lol.

Good to know. I own a 2000 LC with 236k. It has the original windshield it came with from the factory. I hope I never have to replace it. Thanks for the info.

Daniel Borg thanks man means a lot. I have tried the 3M one and another one with a siring and both didnt really get to the entire crack the siring one you pull a slight vacuumed with so it worked a little better but. I feel like at the end of the day their isnt anything as good as what a pro could do. So might consider getting a price to have someone fix it

I can imagine once the tariffs kick in it wont be cheaper

actually fy of America ( formally of China ) because of those tarriffs is producing much cleaner glass ( less bad bends and distortion ) and it's on average $20-30 cheaper. pilkingtons price didn't change and the cheaper manufacturers were pretty much phased out which they produced shitty glass anyway. I've been doing glass for just about 9 years and the tariffs actually helped the glass industry
