Preventative Maintenance for your LX470

A preventive maintenance item that gets overlooked is your ignition coils. We often think about changing our oil, the spark plugs and those brittle heater T's. Ignition coils can fail when you least expect it. Often times the ignition coil will produce a weak signal, or completely fail and sometimes it'll produce an intermittent signal. If you decide to replace your spark plugs, evaluate your ignition coils, they may need to be replaced. Great video. Just for clarification cracks in the side would estate replacement but you can buy boot/washer/spring replacement kits and then only replace the entire cold if you get an error code.

Thanks for watching the video and sorry for the late response. Yes you could replace the boots and springs, however I believe my coils were original and had never been replaced. I really replaced them as preventative maintenance.

The middle ground is buy 1 and keep it on hand, along with a code reader. If one goes, replace it immediately, then buy 7 more and replace them all. Replacing all 8 is pretty expensive preventative maintenance if there are no bad symptoms.

You can get 8 Denso iridium spark plugs and 8 Denso coil packs from Rock Auto for 500 bucks delivered in 2 days. My local dealership wants 150 per coil, not installed! I said are you guys crazy, do you know why most people use Rock Auto?!

I’m gonna say people use Rock Auto because of their low prices. I’ve used them for several things.

Cyl 6 misfire so I am going to chang the coil hopefully it helps
